Review: ELF Studio Lip Exfoliator

More reviews rolling out from my ELF haul earlier this year! This time, it's about their lip exfoliator.

What the packaging says:
"This lip exfoliator gently exfoliates lips to remove dry chapped skin with a sugary sweet and smoothing sensation. It is infused with Vitamin E, Shea Butter and other good stuff."

Instructions: Apply to clean damp lips and massage in a circular motion to exfoliate. Use a moistened cotton pad with water and gently wipe away scrub. Follow with a lip balm or gloss to condition.

The ingredient list is amazing! All natural and all sorts of oils.

  • The price- it's only $3
  • The smell and taste
  • It really scrubs and leaves your lips feeling smooth
  • A little harsh for every day use
  • Sometimes the beads don't come off and I have to scrap it
I really like the smell/taste of this lip exfoliator! Also I love how the ingredient list is full of good for you ingredients. It definitely performs up to its standards and helps your lips feel smooth. However, it is a bit rough so your lips may come out feeling a little raw. But it's an awesome scrub for non-regular reuse. Highly recommended!

First Tutorial + Blogger Milestones

Wow this is crazy!
I've hit 10,000 page views and this is my 100th post. Thank you to all my followers for reading and commenting! You've made this an amazing journey.

To celebrate the occasion, I'm writing my FIRST tutorial post! When I read beauty blogs, I never really found tutorials that worked for my eye shape so I kind of refrained from posting any tutorials because it might not be applicable to every one. But I thought I'd experiment and show you guys a very basic tutorial using a neutral palette for an every day eye!

Neutral Everyday Eye Tutorial

Featuring: Rimmel's Smokey Brun Quad
Review coming soon!

Beginning to End

I don't have any other makeup on so please excuse!
       Beginning compared to the end

 Beginning compared to the end

Let's Get Started on the Tutorial!

 1) Take a stiff brush and pat on the beige color from the lid up to the crease.

2) Take a blending brush and blend the golden brown around the crease area. My actual crease is around my brow bone so I just blend it where when I open my eyes, the colors show.

3) Take the same brush and take the light cream color to highlight under the brow bone and in the inner corner of the lid.

4) Take an eyeliner brush and use the darkest brown to create a winged liner. I also used a smudge brush to create more depth in the other 1/3 of my lid.

5) Finish off with your favorite eyeliner and mascara.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post! It definitely took me a long time to take the pictures and edit i so hopefully it's helpful. Let me know what you think about these tutorial posts! And if you have any current tutorial posts, I'd love to read them! :)

Haul: Bath and Body Works Semi Annual Sale

I'm a huge fan of bath and body works candles so I've been waiting for a while for their semi annual sale.
However, I wasn't too pleased with the current selection and spent significantly less than budgeted. So I guess that's a good thing!

This is their sale poster.

Here's what I picked up!

Bali Mango Triple Moisture Cream $4
-This was kind of one of those random things I grabbed because I was curious about it.

Small Candle in Peach Bellini $6.25
-I was planning on grabbing many more candles but at $6.25 it's still pretty pricey

Scent portables Buy 3 get 1 Free $12
-I wanted to get some good smells in my car so I bought these!
-The margarita cup I put in a fruity cocktail scent, and the blue bow one has a pineapple vanilla smell

There was a survey code at the bottom that's $10 off for $30 purchase. So I might go back and pick up some hand cream and candles if it's more discounted.

However, I read on someone's blog that she wasn't a fan of bath and body works lotion and I never realized how heavily perfumed and moisturizing it is. I probably won't continue buying the body lotions. But their candles are to die for!

Are you guys a fan of Bath and Body works? Did you pick up anything in their sale?

Review: ELF Studio Glossy Gloss

Sorry for the lack of posts lately! I've been so busy with work and school. Here's a post I had written from a while back, but don't worry I will be back posting soon!!

This is part of the huge ELF haul I did earlier in the year. The glossy gloss were one of my favorite items!

Packaging says: A high shine gloss for a beautiful sheen and a rich tint of color. Great for wearing alone or over lipstick, lip pencil or any lip color. Provides intense hydration and moisture with infused Vitamin E formula.

The lip gloss feels plushy when applied. The colors are surprisingly pigmented and it has a slight scent which I do enjoy! The applicator is these plasticky whiskers. I would have preferred a doe tip but it's not too bad. There is also a lot of product! I can't remember exactly how much but almost 4 times more than a normal MAC lipgloss. The packaging is actually quite sophisticated looking and doesn't feel cheap at all!

Top to Bottom: Dragon Fruit, Tangy Tangerine, Ballet Slippers

Top to Bottom: Dragon Fruit, Tangy Tangerine, Ballet Slippers

  • The price- it's only $3
  • Pigmented
  • Nice range of color
  • Nice smell
  • Feels plushy on the lips
  • The applicators are a little rough
  • Slightly streaking when applied
I would definitely recommend this lip gloss to everyone!! There is a nice range of color and it actually shows up on your lips. I've been using dragon fruit for a pop of color and ballet slippers when I want a nude lip.

Empties: May

Happy June everyone! The sun has finally come out in Vancouver and I can't wait for the summer.

May Empties

Simply Moisturizer: There's a cooling sensation when i put it on. But nothing too exciting.

Revitalift:  This felt like a thick primer. It smoothed out my skin but felt really oily for first 5 mins. Didn't break me out but not a lot of products do. I think it's a really interesting product but it was hard to use because it was so greasy when you first apply it.

Eyedrops: Such a life saver when I wore contacts on vacation. Must buy more!

Avena Positively Nourishing Shampoo: This smelled like oatmeal and I found it quite gentle on the hair but I wouldn't repurchase.

Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover: I think this is my third bottle of this stuff but I will probably experiment with other ones. This is non-greasy and doesn`t sting the eye at all! I really like it! It doesn`t remove waterproof mascara though

ELF Eyelid Primer: I actually cut this open to dig out the products and look how much there was!

So technically I guess this will last me a little while longer. The primer works okay but nothing too spectacular. I don`t wear eyeshadow that much so in general eyelid primers are kind of an unnecessary step.

David`s Tea

Citron Oolong: It was okay but I think I prefer original flavor oolong tea.

Sleigh Ride: So yummy! This is limited edition in the holidays but I bought a set of holiday crackers and this was in it. I wish I had more of it!!

Organic Saigon Chai: I`ve never been a fan of chai tea and this was not an exception.

Tossed Away

NYX Lip Liner in Burgandy: I never use lipliners and this has been sitting around in my drawers for so long! I finally decided to just throw it out

ELF Essentials Bronzer Powder: I used to love this stuff! As you can tell by the fact I hit pan. But recently the lid broke off and it`s just too hard to work with. It`s also not matching my skin color very well, I used to be a lot more tan!

So that`s my empties for the month! I don`t have a lot of sample size items so it`s hard for me to finish stuff but I really want to downsize my collection to the things I love using!
