Vancouver IMATS Experience

I just came back today from the Vancouver IMATS and wanted to share my experience and a haul. I went with my friend Yu-Shan who is collaborating wth me on this post! See her comments at the bottom :)

The event was held at the Vancouver Convention Center and will be happening tomorrow as well.

Warning: Picture heavy!

Watching a demonstration.

Haulage :)

Here's what my friend bought!

Velour Lashes
Mink eyelashes $20
Style: Got from Momma

Red Cherry Lashes
$2.63 each or $4 something for the fancy one with glitter.

Make Up Forever
Lash Style #23 $15
Full Cover Extreme Camoflage Cream Waterproof #5 $25

Morphe Makeup Brushes
My friend built a palette of fun colors!! The whole set was only $10!

Really proud of her DIY palette.

Crown Brushes
Makeup Cleansing Tissues $5
Italian Badger Collection Brushes

Here's what I got! I'm still limiting my purchases so I didn't get too much.

2 Red Cherry lashes
Making up Cleansing Tissues
Crown Royal Kabuki Brush + Double sided Brush

I built my own neutral palette at Morphe Makeup Brushes. The whole thing only costed $10!!!

Really pigmented colors!

See what Yu-Shan had to say about the event!!

Overall the experience at IMATS was pretty unique! I thought it would be a lot of like... being able to try and test products, and having someone teach how to use the products... but for the exhibitors portion, it was very much like a miniature market place. The one speaker we watched was teaching how to make a fierce fashion show look, with "double brush" techniques. It's always pretty awesome to hear about how the pros do it, so that was definitely a good demonstration to watch to pick up some makeup application tips! Probably the best part of IMATS was the discounted prices. For example, I basically got a set of lashes and a concealer from Make Up Forever for the price of one concealer at the retail price! Pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

I think I would come back some other year, maybe when I've used up all of my products haha, but it was definitely worthwhile!

Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty

Last week I got to travel for work which was super exciting. But it also meant no time for blogging. But I'm back now for one of my first tags! I actually forgot where I got this from but I tag all of my readers and please link me if you do this tag. I'd love to read it :)

GREED: What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive?
My most inexpensive beauty item is my elf eyeshadow quad for $1! The most expensive is my Urban Decay Naked Palette at $60. However it's totally worth it and with these two examples, the cheap thing is definitely not the good thing. The ELF eyesahdow quad barely shows up!

WRATH: What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with?
I have a love/hate relationship with my benefit You Rebel tinted moisturizer. Sometimes it provides the most beautiful canvas and other times it oxidizes me to an orange oompa loompa.

GLUTTONY: What are your most delicious beauty products?
My EOS lip butter is really yummy, as is my burt's bees lip balm! Also, I love the way my Too Faced bronzer smells!! Like chocolate.

SLOTH: What beauty product do you neglect due to laziness?
I neglect my tweezers for my eyebrows and my eyelash curlers. I just don't feel they make that much of a difference.

PRIDE: What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?
Foundation definitely makes me feel better. Right now my favorite is the Urban Decay Naked Foundation. I have naturally red cheeks so putting on foundation gives me a good canvas to also put on blush and bronzer.

LUST: What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?
I'm guessing this is more superficial attributes, so hair and abs. Otherwise, ambition and kindness.

ENVY: What item would you most like to receive as a gift?
I'm currently loving how the Tarte aqualillies palette looks. But I'm waiting for a special day to treat myself to a YSL lipstick. The packaging is just gorgeous!

Swatches: Stila Lip Glaze in Sugar Plum and Holly

This post is a continuation of my swatches from the Stila All is Bright Lip Glaze Set
Second post of swatches

Stila Holly (A fiery red with orange undertone)

Stila Holly (I didn't notice I put too much on)
Look how pigmented the color is!

Stila Sugar Plum (A soft mauve with some sparkles)

Stila Sugar Plum (The color shows up a little bit on the lips, but mostly sheer)

I was so shocked by the bright color of Holly. All the other lip glazes in this set were very sheer in pigmentation and this one just blew me away. This hows that some of the brighter colors are very pigmented and that's great they can make a variety.

I really do enjoy these now! The sheer colors for everyday use and the bright colors for going out. I would recommend picking these up next time they have a value set.

Some artistic photos :P

I only have two more in the set to try! I can't wait to see what they release next holiday season.
Have you tried the Stila Lip Glazes? What's your must haves for a lipgloss? (Scent, non-sticky, color?)

Empties: June

I addeded little emoticons after each item to give a quick glance at if I liked it, it was average, or I didn't like it. Hopefully it is helpful if you don't want to read through everything!
I'm quite happy with what I've finished considering I've been working all month AND going to school so I barely had time for makeup.

Makeup Items

BBW Body Lotion in Midnight Pomengranate  :(
I'm really glad to be done with this. I found the smell a little over powering. It's more of a night time scent I think. I'm trying to go through my BBW lotions and move onto something more natural. Is the Body Shop or Fruits & Passions better?

Dermalogica Antioxidant Hydramist :)
I use this mist after cleaning and before moisturizing. I really like it because my face gets dry after washing so this makes it feel really good when I spray it. However, I haven't repurchased since I finished and there's been no difference in my skin so maybe it's not worth the $60+ pricetag. It's definitely a nice product though.

Lancome L'extreme Mascara  :/
This mascara really separates the lashes. But I actually don't like the waterproof formula. After I take off my makeup, there's still always smudged mascara the next morning. I swear a wrote a post about this mascara but I can't find it!

Stila Lip Glaze in Splendor  :)
I'm starting to really like the Stila lipglazes. This was a nice neutral color and perfect for the office. I would recommend getting the sets Stila puts out for their lip glazes. It's good value!

Lovestruck by Vera Wang Perfume Sample  :/
Not much too say. It was pretty good but not a standout that would make me go out and purchase it.

Others

BBW Candle in Twilight Woods  :(
I liked it at first but I think the smell is too strong. This candle burned really well though! Went almost to the very end. I would still repurchase BBW candles, just not in this scent.

Finesse Extra Body Conditioner  :(
I bought this when I moved on residence because I needed shampoo and this was the cheapest at the store. I still haven't finished the shampoo but I'm finally done with this conditioner. It's pretty bad, it makes my hair feel heavy I think. I don't like the shampoo either. Don't go for the cheap stuff!!

David's Tea in Santa's Secret  :)
I love this flavor!! It's from their holiday collection and I still had one left over. So delicious, black tea, peppermint and chocolate candy cane flavored!! LOVE

Colgate MaxClean Smartfoam  :)
It's a little weird to post about toothpaste I know. But this stuff is awesome! Best toothpaste I've had. It foams up so nicely and it makes your mouth really clean!
