Welcome to my 2013 Empties!

Here’s what I finished off in Feburary! It may not seem like a lot but I think this was actually a pretty good month for me. Leave a comment with your empties post and I’d love to read it!

Makeup Related

1) Clinique Clarifying Lotion: I’ve never really used toners. This was nice to clean away impurities, but I’m not sure if it makes any difference in my skin. Anyone religiously use toners?

2) Random Perfume: When my bf got me a bday gift from Sephora, they included this perfume sample. But he didn’t remember what it was called. I quite liked it though!

3) Vera Wang Princess Perfume: I liked this perfume so much in high school! But I think I’m a little sick of it now. It’s too rich.

4) Stila Lip Glaze in Jolly: At first I wasn’t too happy with this because it was quite sheer. But at the end of the use I really liked it because it’s a perfect everyday gloss and you don’t need to worry about using a mirror to apply.

Randoms

1) Quo Luxury Cotton Pads: I liked this perfume so much in high school! But I think I’m a little sick of it now. It’s too rich.

2) Head & Shoulders Dandruff Shampoo: This was surpursingly good. There’s such a stigma with head &shoulders but I’d recommend everyone to try this!

3) David’s Tea- Big Apple: So yummy! It’s like creamy white tea with apple flavor.

4) David’s Tea- Orange Blossom: Really enjoyed this too! Tasted like sweet oranges with black tea.

JANUARY

I love that more and more bloggers are doing empties posts now. I’m always envious of how much everyone uses up. Maybe I’m just lazy and I’d rather sleep than put on makeup in the morning. But here’s my addition to the blogsphere’s January Empties post.

David’s Tea

Recently I’ve been quite the David’s Tea addict. It might be the cold weather, me getting sick, or that boxing day haul I did. But I have lots to get through now! Here’s 4 I finished this month.

1) Rose Congou Green: Green tea with a hint of floral. Not my favorite.

2) Chocolate Chili Chai: This was so delicious during the holidays, puts you right in the Christmas spirit

3) Bamboozled: This had bamboo leaves, loved the concept but execution is lacking.

4) Prairie Berry: My favorite out of the bunch! Sweet and delicious!

Other Products

5) Two Crest toothpastes

6) Burt’s Bees Lip Balm in Pomengranate: Click for review. It was good but I wouldn’t repurchase.

7) BBW Hand Sanitizer in Island Margarita: This is an amazing scent! I have 3 more to finish at home

8) Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream: I love this cream. It’s medium weight but so creamy for the winter. Definite repurchase.

Make Up Related

ELF Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths
I got this in January from my ELF haul and I love this! Already repurchased. It’s a lifesaver when I’m too lazy to wash my face after a long night and it takes all the makeup off!

Stila Lip Glaze in Jingle
This was part of the All is Bright lip glaze set and the second one I finished. It was a nice pink-coral color but nothing too exciting.

Etude House 44 Dark Circle Concealer
I’ve had this for around 4 years but I haven’t used it recently. This was really good because it has a yellow tone so it matched my Asian skin better. Would recommend.

Korres Antiageing Primer
This was the first primer I’ve ever used and I got it from Winners last August. I really liked the smell and the texture. Not sure if it had any anti-ageing properties, and noticed minimal increase in wear time.

Randoms

David’s Tea in Goji Pop

Love this flavor! Was so fruity and fresh.

David’s Tea in Sencha Ashikubo
This was a very normal flavor surprisingly. It didn’t wow me.

Vichy Youth Power Serum
Got this as a sample and it was a nice texture. Didn’t notice any difference. I’m always skeptical about serums.

Calgon Body Mist in Hawaiian Ginger
Thank god I’m done with this! I used to like this scent in high school but not a fan of it anymore.

Tossed Away

MAC Paint Pot in Barestudy
This is a beautiful shade but unfortunately it’s all dried out. I tried microwaving and blow drying it but nothing worked 🙁 Going to keep the container for back 2 mac. But definitely would recommend.

MAC Eyeshadow in Tilt
Another product that’s just too old. I got this from a friend so I don’t know how old it is exactly but with the older packaging it must be around 10 years! Yuck. The color is also too bright for me to wear and is a duochrome which I’m not a fan of. Maybe I can back 2 mac this too?

Wet n Wild Lipstick in Just Peachy

So there it is!! I’m slowly but surely downsizing my makeup collection to things I would actually use. My birthday just passed last week and I haven’t even bought or received anything new makeup related! Big change from last year haha. Link me to your empties post! I would love to read it 🙂

May Empties

Simply Moisturizer: There’s a cooling sensation when i put it on. But nothing too exciting.

Revitalift: This felt like a thick primer. It smoothed out my skin but felt really oily for first 5 mins. Didn’t break me out but not a lot of products do. I think it’s a really interesting product but it was hard to use because it was so greasy when you first apply it.

Eyedrops: Such a life saver when I wore contacts on vacation. Must buy more!

Avena Positively Nourishing Shampoo: This smelled like oatmeal and I found it quite gentle on the hair but I wouldn’t repurchase.

Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover: I think this is my third bottle of this stuff but I will probably experiment with other ones. This is non-greasy and doesn`t sting the eye at all! I really like it! It doesn`t remove waterproof mascara though

ELF Eyelid Primer: I actually cut this open to dig out the products and look how much there was!

So technically I guess this will last me a little while longer. The primer works okay but nothing too spectacular. I don`t wear eyeshadow that much so in general eyelid primers are kind of an unnecessary step.

David`s Tea

Citron Oolong: It was okay but I think I prefer original flavor oolong tea.

Sleigh Ride: So yummy! This is limited edition in the holidays but I bought a set of holiday crackers and this was in it. I wish I had more of it!!

Organic Saigon Chai: I`ve never been a fan of chai tea and this was not an exception.

Tossed Away

NYX Lip Liner in Burgandy: I never use lipliners and this has been sitting around in my drawers for so long! I finally decided to just throw it out

ELF Essentials Bronzer Powder: I used to love this stuff! As you can tell by the fact I hit pan. But recently the lid broke off and it`s just too hard to work with. It`s also not matching my skin color very well, I used to be a lot more tan!

So that`s my empties for the month! I don`t have a lot of sample size items so it`s hard for me to finish stuff but I really want to downsize my collection to the things I love using!

I addeded little emoticons after each item to give a quick glance at if I liked it, it was average, or I didn’t like it. Hopefully it is helpful if you don’t want to read through everything!

I’m quite happy with what I’ve finished considering I’ve been working all month AND going to school so I barely had time for makeup.

Makeup Items

BBW Body Lotion in Midnight Pomengranate 🙁
I’m really glad to be done with this. I found the smell a little over powering. It’s more of a night time scent I think. I’m trying to go through my BBW lotions and move onto something more natural. Is the Body Shop or Fruits & Passions better?

Dermalogica Antioxidant Hydramist 🙂
I use this mist after cleaning and before moisturizing. I really like it because my face gets dry after washing so this makes it feel really good when I spray it. However, I haven’t repurchased since I finished and there’s been no difference in my skin so maybe it’s not worth the $60+ pricetag. It’s definitely a nice product though.

Lancome L’extreme Mascara :/
This mascara really separates the lashes. But I actually don’t like the waterproof formula. After I take off my makeup, there’s still always smudged mascara the next morning. I swear a wrote a post about this mascara but I can’t find it!

Stila Lip Glaze in Splendor 🙂
I’m starting to really like the Stila lipglazes. This was a nice neutral color and perfect for the office. I would recommend getting the sets Stila puts out for their lip glazes. It’s good value!

Lovestruck by Vera Wang Perfume Sample :/
Not much too say. It was pretty good but not a standout that would make me go out and purchase it.

Others

BBW Candle in Twilight Woods 🙁
I liked it at first but I think the smell is too strong. This candle burned really well though! Went almost to the very end. I would still repurchase BBW candles, just not in this scent.

Finesse Extra Body Conditioner 🙁
I bought this when I moved on residence because I needed shampoo and this was the cheapest at the store. I still haven’t finished the shampoo but I’m finally done with this conditioner. It’s pretty bad, it makes my hair feel heavy I think. I don’t like the shampoo either. Don’t go for the cheap stuff!!

David’s Tea in Santa’s Secret 🙂
I love this flavor!! It’s from their holiday collection and I still had one left over. So delicious, black tea, peppermint and chocolate candy cane flavored!! LOVE

Colgate MaxClean Smartfoam 🙂
It’s a little weird to post about toothpaste I know. But this stuff is awesome! Best toothpaste I’ve had. It foams up so nicely and it makes your mouth really clean!

Samples

Josie Maran Argan Oil for Hair :/
It made my hair nice and soft and helped to de-tangle.
But I didn’t use it for long enough to see if there’s any real
differences. It smelled pretty nice and I would be interested in trying
out a bigger sample

Shiseido Sunscreen 🙁
When I first
opened it, it was runny which I was excited about because it meant the
sunscreen will be easy to apply. However, when I put it on my skin, it
has a ghastly white cast. I couldn’t even blend it in properly. I guess
it’s spf50 so there’s quite a bit of chemicals in there but I had to
wipe off the sunscreen because it was so white!

Urban Decay Naked Foundation 🙂
My HG foundation! I have the full size of this and just brought this sample when I was traveling.

Bliss Triple Oxygen Eye Gel 🙁
This was a nice sample but it didn’t make a difference. Also when the gel dried, it kind of peeled off my face which wasn’t appealing.

Makeup

Love & Beauty Makeup Wipes :/
These were $3.80 for 30 sheets so it’s pretty cheap. They are more runny than my ELF ones but doesn’t take off makeup as well. They do feel nice though so it does the job, just not on waterproof makeup.

Benefit Bad Gal Mascara 🙂
This was a really nice mascara that lengths, volumizes and separates. It kind of does everything and I like the big wand!

Rimmel Spark it Up Eyeliner 🙂
I used this eye liner for a super long time and really enjoy the golden black color. Now that I’m using pure black, it takes a bit getting use to. This color is much softer on the eyes!

Garnier Skin Renew Lotion :/
This was nice and refreshing on the skin but it didn’t do anything else that it promised. Good for a hot summer day.

Other

Toothpaste + Multivitamins

They were both okay. I thought the vitamins actually helped me not get sick this year so I might pick up some other brands.

Glysomed Hand Cream 🙁

I didn’t like this because it was unscented. But otherwise it’s a cheap effective hand cream and a really portable size!

Bath and Body Works Hand Sanitizer 🙂

I love the pocketpacs, they are so convenient and helps keep your hands germ free!

Orizee Yuzu & Shiso Hydrating Cream :/

This lotion was really nice to use and had an interesting smell. However, it didn’t do anything special so it was just okay. You can see my review here.

Throw Away

Various deodorants: I threw away all my old deodorants haha. I never go through them.

Lush- No Drought: Terrible dry shampoo! Left white spots in my hair because the powder doesn’t brush out. It also expired, I’m not sure how.

Usana Proflavanol C 🙂
These were Vitamin C tablets. I really liked it! It had a citrusy flavor and was easy to swallow and I thought it helped my immune system when I needed it! But it’s probably just placebo effect 😛
