Review: Josie Maran Argan Oil

I was always skeptical to try out the different beauty oils on the market because I hate having a greasy face and hate having greasy hands. But I heard so much positive raves about the Josie Maran Argan Oil that I decided I want to try it out.

I actually bought this smaller size in late summer and used it here and there during my exchange trip. But once I got back to Vancouver, I've been using it almost daily as my moisturizer. So I feel like I can finally share with you my opinion.

I really like the dropper!

How I use it:
I usually use half a dropper. I would put a little on my forehead, each cheek and my chin. Then I'd massage it in with my hands.

What I think:
I have pretty dry skin so I think this helped with dry patches but not more so than regular cream moisturizer. I actually didn't really like it because it does not ABSORB into my skin! Everyone talks about how it's not greasy at all, but I find it's still oily even after 10-15 mins!! Am I using too much?

Not only would my face be oily, but my hands would still be oily too. Then I have to wash my hands or else my palms will get everything I touch oily.

The consistency

See how it's shiny? My skin would feel oily for a long time!

Also, I expected it to smell good but there's no smell what so ever.

Overall, I'm not a fan of this product. I hate how it doesn't absorb and leaves me feeling oily. I know it's natural and suppose to be good for you but I haven't encountered any problems with my Dermalogica line so I probably will not try any more oils.

What are your thoughts on oils?

Products I Want to Hit Pan/Finish in 2014

Today's post will be about products I want to hit pan or finish this year! I've seen lots of these videos recently on Youtube and motivated me to do a post about it!

I'm at the point where when I go shopping, I stop myself from buying any new makeup because I have so much at home! I just want to use it all up so when I browse Target or Sephora, I can actually pick up new items to try! Additionally, after spending 4 months on exchange with minimal makeup, my life felt much simpler and I want to continue that!

So here goes my goal for 2014! I can't wait to see in December how I did.

Lip Products

Laura Mercier Lip Glace .1oz
MAC Dazzleglass  .06oz
Buxom Full on Lip Polish .07oz
2x Stila Lip Glaze 1.5mL
4x Tarte Maracuja Lipgloss .059oz

I have quite a few lipglosses to finish but most of these are smaller sizes so hopefully I can go through one of these a month! I want to finish all of these!

Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick .1oz
MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick .12oz
Burt's Bees Lipbalm .15oz

These are all full size products. I've been slow to use lipstick recently because of my new love for lipglosses. I want to finish the lip balm and try to use as much of these two lipsticks as I can.

Face Products

Rimmel Fix & Perfect Primer 30mL
Korres Primer 10mL
Lioele BB Cream 50mL
Benefit High Beam 4mL
Bombay Brow Bar Powder
ELF Undereye Concealer

I'm hoping to finish all of these products except the high beam and the brow powder. I'm hoping to hit pan on the powder, and just use as much of the high beam as I can.

MAC Blush in Launch Away 4g
Tarate Blush in Memorable 1.5g
Benefit Hoola 3g

I'm hoping to hit pan on these three items. I have never hit pan on a blush or bronzer!!

Eye Products

Benefit Big Fatty Mascara
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
Dinoplatz Purple Eyeliner
Smashbox Black Eyeliner
Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Benefit They're Real Mascara
Rimmel Eyeshadow Quad 4g

I want to finish all of these products except the eyeshadow quad. I've already hit pan on two eyeshadows but I want to hit serious pan this year and I will throw away this palette at the end of the year as I've had it for a while.

Lastly I have the Tarte eyeshadow palette that came with the Tarte of Giving Set. I've been tryign to use this palette for my everyday look and I want to hit pan on three shadows! Each is .07 oz

Over I have 30 items that I am working on using up! I've never noticed that I actually have a lot more high end than drugstore makeup. I really hope I can use up these items so I can go to Target and get all those sales ;)

I'd love to read your post if you are doing something similar! And if you haven't yet, I'd strongly suggest you to go through your makeup and see if you want to try and use things up!

Press on Nails NOTD and 300 Followers!

I am so excited that I have 303 followers on GFC! I am so thankful for each and every one of you! I hope you all enjoy reading my posts and I especially love it when you leave a comment. I know I'm not the best at replying to them but I just wanted to let you know I do love reading any comments my readers leave for me!

I hope to achieve even more milestones in 2014!

Now on to the NOTD.

A month ago, I received the Influenster box and in it was a press on manicure set from Broadway Nails. The first time I used it, it fell off within a day and I wasn't impressed with it at all. I also wasn't sure if I liked all my nails to be a leopard pattern.

So I decided to try again and use the press on nails on my ring finger as the accent.

I'm happy to say it has stayed on for over five days now!! I'm really really happy with its staying power. There's still a bit of a gap between the press on and my real nail but I think finding the right shape really helps in making this last.

I painted the rest of my nails a baby pink and layered it with a golden sparkle top coat (not in pictures)

Do you guys press on or glue on nails? What about nail stickers?

Review: Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara

First off, I love the packaging! It's so retro and pretty!

The brush is a really big natural bristle brush. The bristles are densely packed together. I thought this would clump so bad but it actually doesn't.

What they say:
This new formula is buildable, virtually weightless, smudge-proof, flake-proof, and provides ultra-long wear. Unlike other thickening mascaras, which can clump, this high-tech, moisturizing formula includes hemp seed oil, vitamin E, jojoba oil, and purisilk SPB to condition lashes and maintain a soft feel. The uniquely shaped, big molded brush actually latches onto lashes to load mascara evenly to each lash. The most exciting thing: The tip of the brush is covered in small bristles, specially made to deftly handle your tiny lower and corner lashes. No need to buy a special mascara for your corner lashes.

*The packaging/brush is different from what I have. I think the version I have is now discontinued*

What I say:
At first glance, the brush is HUGE and is kind of intimidating. I thought this would clump like crazy but it actually doesn't clump at all! My favorite part about this mascara is that it leaves my lashes soft. Some mascaras can make your lashes crunchy but this one does not. However, it doesn't really give huge volume or length.

Bare Lashes

Lashes with Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara

Very black look. But smudged on my upper lids

Mascara Ratings
Big lashes: 4/5
Blackness: 5/5
No clumping: 5/5
No flaking/smudging: 3/5
Easy to take off: 5/5
Value: 3/5

Overall 25/30    A

This would be a great every day mascara. I bought this quite cheap when it was on sale. But if it's $20 I would expect more and would probably choose a drugstore mascara over this. My favorite part about this mascara is how soft and fluffy my lashes feel after wearing it. But it doesn't give the most dramatic look.

Favorites of 2013

As the year is over, I have some of my favorite products from 2013. Most of these were purchased this year because I tried to pick products that are still new to the market. I don't usually do monthly favorites because I rotate my makeup so much but here are 7 products I would highly recommend.

1) Lioele Waterdrop BB Cream
This BB cream is amazing! It feels so refreshing on the face and not cakey at all. The coverage is still pretty light but I find it gaves an amazing even canvas.

2) Dinoplatz Guggenosaurus Concealer
I bought this in HK on one of my last days. This has serious coverage and it blends really naturally. I believe it's a korean brand. And this concealer even has SPF!

3) Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eyepencils
This product has been out for a while but I only started using it this year. I love how creamy and black this eyeliner is. And it glides on the lids beautiful. I enjoy using this for both my upper lash line and my water line! I can't say that about many other eye liners.

4) Benefit They're Real Mascara
A cult favorite on the online beauty community. I got this in the birthday gift and I was intimidated by the brush at first. But oh my goodness, this mascara gives insane length and makes me feel like I'm wearing falsies!

5) ELF Glossy Gloss in Ballet Slippers
I realized I should include more affordable options on this list and at $3 this definitely fits the bill. I love how plushy and thick this gloss is. It also smells nice and is once of the first nude lip glosses that actually looks nude on my lips.

6) Bite Lip Pencil in Rhubarb
I recently got this in my Sephora Gimme Some Lips kit. I've only used it a couple times but it's the best MLBB shade ever! There's no shine to this so it literally looks like your lips but with a better color to it.

7) YSL Rouge Volupte Sheer in #5
One of my biggest splurges this year! But worth every penny. I love the color, the scent, the formula and especially the luxurious packaging!

What are your favorite products of 2013? Have you tried any items on my list?

Sephora Haul! VIB Sale + Boxing Day + Updates

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great holiday season and happy new year! Can you believe it's 2014 already?!

I am back in Vancouver and had a really nice time catching up with my family, friends and my boyfriend. Made it back in time to celebrate our two year anniversary <3
I thought I lost my camera charger since I've been back but I just found it yesterday! More posts will be up soon. I will also be posting my last travel pics including riding elephants in Thailand!

This is super belated post but this is from the VIB sale. I bought the items in Hong Kong but I shipped my items to my home address and I was finally able to see these babies! It was like coming home to a Christmas Present I gave to myself haha!!

1) Tarte of Giving Makeup Set
This set comes with a makeup palette, 8 lip glosses, and a bunch of tarte's best sellers!

2) Sephora Gimme Some Lips Set
Currently loving the Laura Mercier but not sure about the NARS and Tarte.

3) Sephora + Pantone Eyeshadow Kit
This was kind of interesting but I think the colors are a bit sheer for my liking

4) Kat Von D Eyeliner
An interesting olive color eyeliner. I haven't used it yet.

5) The New Black Nail Polish
Just used this yesterday, it leaves a peppermint smell which is why I bought it. The pink and red are great but the white doesn't really show up.

6) Samples
Two perfumes and a Guerlain foundation. Also redeemed 100 points for a Julep top coat which is amazing!

Next, this is what I got for Boxing Day. They were all presents from my boyfriend yay! Because this was my Christmas present. Pick out anything on boxing day haha.

Bath and Body Works
-3 mini candles
-Leaves candle
-Frosted Cranberry portable (for my car)
-Paris Amour Body Lotion
-Winter Candy Apple hand lotion
-Vanilla Bean Noel hand wash

Sephora
-Sparkle brush set
-Clean rollerball trio
-Boscia Bright Stars kit (I'm loving this!)

I also got a sweater from Street. It's kind of an interesting pattern and fit but I really like it!
I got a Microsoft Surface from my parents which will be perfect for back to school next week.

I tried to stay away from makeup for Christmas this year as I think I have enough to last me 10 years!! But my goal next year is definitely to use up more of my items. I've been trying to control myself with purchases this year but with HK and the VIB sale, I've got quite a bit of new toys to play with!

What did you get for Christmas? Any New Year resolutions regarding your makeup?
