Influenster: Impress Nails Review

Today's review will be on the imPRESS nails by Broadway Nails. These were given by Influenster for testing!

I actually received a box before, but it was an animal print which I didn't like. When I opened up this box, I was much happier with the designs!! I absolutely love the lacey design!

What is it: imPRESS nails are a press on manicure that doesn't require glue. Let's break down what they promise.

1) No drying time. This is very true! Since you aren't applying polish, you don't have to wait for this to dry

2) Superior, lasting shine: This is also true since the colors don't chip and it's already finished off with a pretty shiny topcoat.

3) Easy removal: I found this kind of hard to remove but I didn't soak it in remover. I just peeled it off which hurts a little bit but didn't do any damage.

4) Lasts up to a week: I haven't worn it for that long but it's stayed on for at least 5 days and then I peeled it off. The lasting power is great!

What else I liked: This manicure didn't need to use glue which makes it easier than traditional fake nails. I also don't find that it damages my nails when I take it off which I really like. Each set also has 12 different sizes so you can find one that fits your nail.

What I didn't like: Unfortunately these still leave a gap between my nail and the fake nail no matter how many different sizes there are. A tip I have is to find one that's slightly bigger since the curve is less intense, and then just trim the edges.

Overall I think they're really good for special occasions as you can have a gorgeous printed manicure in minutes! It's harder to wear for an every day purposes because of the gap and my hair gets caught in it.

They have a wide range of designs available and I think the french mani with glitter looks amazing! You can check out all their designs here!

This retails around $8-$10 and I've seen it at Target and Shoppers Drug Mart. Have you tried press on nails? Would you give it a try?

Review: NYC Big Bold Curl Mascara

I'm pumping out the rest of the reviews I had lined up for my May Makeup Box. :)
This review is on the NYC Big Bold Curl Mascara! I got this from my Influenster box last year! It is available for less than $5 at most drugstores. I've seen it at Shoppers, Target and Walmart.

What they say: NYC's Big Bold Curl mascara gives your lashes up to 12 times more volume and up to 99% more lift. One stroke multiplies your lashes by up to 147%. There are no clumps , just full-on drama and turned-right-up impact.

What I say: I do see volume and lift but I have no idea how these makeup companies come up with these numerical claims. The formula is nice and black and it does make my lashes look much bigger.

The first thing I noticed is that the brush is HUGE! It could be tricky to use for people with smaller eyes. There was a little bit of smudging if you are not careful and a bit of flaking at the end of the day. But overall I'm really impressed by this inexpensive drugstore mascara.

Look how big the brush is!

I love the natural bristles! There is a curve to the brush

Mascara Ratings
Big lashes: 4/5
Blackness: 4/5
No clumping: 4/5
No flaking/smudging: 4/5
Easy to take off: 5/5
Value: 5/5

Overall 26/30    A

I thought this mascara was quite good value for the money. It's not the most super dramatic mascara but it does do a good job at enhancing my lashes! It gets much longer, thicker, and blacker. I find that it gets a bit crunchy if you try to apply more than one coat. But this definitely is a great mascara for every day use. And this gives bigger lashes than some of the higher end mascaras I've tried.

Review: Buxom Full on Lip Polish in Dolly

I will be reviewing the Buxom Full on Lip Polish in Dolly. This is another of the lip glosses that came in the Sephora Gimme Some Lip Set

Simple, stylish packaging

It has a typical sponge doe tip applicator

This is actually my first experience with Buxom! There is .07oz or 2 ml of product in here. As I said before, the set is an amazing value! It was only $30 and there were 6 different lip products.

Swatch on hand- Nude with mauve and plum colors. Notice the gold shimmer that you can see in sunlight. Gorgeous!

Swatch on my lips.
-Tingle of peppermint when you put it on, I guess this is how it's suppose to plump
-Love the neutral mauvy color
-Great shine
-The lipgloss smells really good!

-If I put this over my burt's bees, the amount of tingling hurts!!
-Some people might find this a little sticky but I don't mind too much

I really enjoy this lipgloss both the color and the feel on my lips! I would definitely consider repurchasing from this line again. They also just released 100 new permanent shades so you'll definitely find a color you are looking for!

Lip Gloss Ratings
Overall28/30 A

Where to buy it?
The full size is .15 oz for $19USD/23CAD at Sephora. This is cheaper than most high end lip glosses.
I'd recommend buying the deluxe sizes from sets! This one has 6 for $40CAD.

Have you tried the brand Buxom before? Do you like lipgloss that tingles?

Travel Diary: 5 Tips for Visiting San Francisco!

I'm so excited to present another Travel post! After being on exchange, I really had the urge to look for more travel opportunities and of course deal hunting! I recently flew down to San Francisco with my boyfriend to take a little vacation! And I wanted to share some highlights of our trip as well as tips!

#1 Check AirBnb

If you haven't heard of AirBnB before, it's a website where you can find accommodation in other people's homes. But they made a platform where it's safe and secure. We looked into this after realizing hotel prices are ridiculous in San Fran, and was able to live in a whole apartment (although still small) for less than what hotels were charging. Find out more on

#2 Go San Francisco Pass

I originally thought this was an amazing deal because we wanted to go to Six Flags. It is $115 for 3 days and you get admission to 30 attractions. You can also buy it through Alcatraz Cruises and get a free admission to Alcatraz which is worth $30. Overall I thought it was a good deal but depending on what attractions you are hitting up, it might not be worth it.

Through this card we rode on the Hop on Hop off bus which I normally would never have spent the money to do! It was cool though hearing a guided tour and history about the city.

We also got to see the Golden Gate bridge right at the edge which would have been hard to do because we didn't have a car!

#3 Golden Gate Park

This park is huge! So don't expect to be able to walk through it. They have a shuttle you can take advantage of but it only runs on weekends which is a bummer.

We went to California Academy of Sciences which was fun and interesting! Although I feel like it's more suited for younger kids. My favorite part was the room where you can experience an earthquake!

Just remember, the gate isn't in this park!

#4 Attend a Giants Game

I've only gone to one other baseball game before and that was in Toronto. The atmosphere in San Francisco is completely different though as it felt like the whole city was packing into the AT & T Stadium!

The actual stadium is gorgeous and is right on the water! The game was fun to watch and surprisingly went by pretty quick. This is a fun thing to do when visiting a new city!

#5 Visit Alcatraz

To be honest, I wasn't very excited to visit Alcatraz. But it turned out to be one of the best highlights! The audio tour is absolutely fantastic and I learned so much about the history of the island. It was also beautiful to look back into the city and we got some wonderful pictures!

We also went to the Aquarium by the Bay and Ripley's Believe it or Not. These were okay but might not be worth it if paying full admission. I loved eating oysters at the pier. There was also a hidden old school arcade at the pier that was super neat!

A really cold trip!

I'm going to stop before this gets too long but if you need any more tips or want to ask me any questions feel free to leave a comment or email me!

Have you been to San Francisco before? What's your favorite activity on vacation?

Review: Tarina Tarantino Eye Dream Hyperliner in Broken Doll

This is one of the first items from my monthly makeup rotation that I will be reviewing. I feel like the Tarina Tarantino brand is very under rated in the blogging community. I feel that they consistently have gorgeous products!

Here's my review of their eye dream hyperliner in broken doll and maybe you can give this brand a try too! I love this eyeliner!

Price: I paid $11 on sale, normally $15
Amount of product: 1.5g, Made in Germany
Where to get it: Tarina Tarantino online I believe it's discontinued at Sephora.
When did I get it: I picked this up in the fall of 2012.

There are lots of things I like about this eyeliner. It's creamy so it doesn't tug on the sensitive eye area. It's also very pigmented. I got it in a light pink color but you can still see it's pigmented. It's not the most long lasting but it's not bad. For the price, I think it's really good value considering the UD 24/7 eyeliner is $20 and only has 1.2g.

I would definitely recommend everyone to try this line of eyeliners. It's a bit harder to get your hands on it though because it's only sold online! But definitely keep your eye out.

Depending on the light, the product sometimes comes off more pink and sometimes more champagne white.

Korean pop stars are always using a pearly highlight under their inner corner. I think this eyeliner would do a great job trying to recreate that look.

What's your favorite eyeliner? Have you ever tried anything from Tarina Tarantino?

Tarte of Giving Eyeshadow Palette Part I

Hellooo everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts, I was on vacation in San Francisco and didn't have good internet connection to do any posts. Here is a post that I wrote a few weeks ago that's just been sitting in my drafts folder! Enjoy!

This is a swatch/review for the tarte eyeshadow palette I got during Sephora's holiday sets. I wanted to do a whole series of these showing you guys how it looks on my eye. But when I was doing that this week (this was about a month ago), I somehow got an eye infection :(

I can still share with you my swatches on my arms as well as my opinion since I've used it for two months or so! I'm starting off with the top left quadrant. The palette has four quadrant and each quadrant has four shadows and a liner shade. Look out for future posts! I do like the other quadrants better than this one.

Kim's Porcelain doll- cool icey pale blue C
I wouldn't use this highlight because it's too much of a contrast against my skin around my eyes.

Jen's Jump Rope- matte cool toned grey B
I can see this being a really useful blending color

Scott's skateboard- shimmery royal blue F
The color doesn't show up like in pan at ALL. It's so sad because you think it'll be a beautiful royal blue color but it actually just comes off kind of sheer and washed out.

Staci's charm bracelet- metallic silver B
I actually really like this color but it's one of those that's really easy to get glitter all over your face

Nuri's boombox- matte liner shade in black C
I think there's nothing special with this. It came out a bit powdery and also the color isn't as black as I'd want it to be.

Look how pigmented it looks when i dip my fingers in. Too bad that doesn't show up at all. So overall, not super pleased with this quadrant as the formulation isn't top notch.

The winners for my giveaway will be announced tomorrow! I have to study for a final that's tonight! Eek!
What are your experiences with Tarte shadows? Do you stray towards a certain color family? Or what's your favorite brand for eyeshadows?
