Today’s review will be on the Red Flowerย Icelandic Moonflower Moisturizing Body Lotion. In recent years, I’ve mostly used body lotion from Bath and Body Works, or The Body Shop and other stores like that around the mall. I’ve never realized how much chemicals are in those products until comparing it to this body lotion. I was recently sent this lotion for review.
I discovered Red Flower on beauty.com and loved their range of interesting scents and cute website. The company is based in New York and all the products are made in the USA and are cruelty free. With Tarte and Urban Decay recently under fire about selling to companies that test on animals, it seems like consumers are quite concerned with being cruelty free. Red Flower’s scents are inspired by various parts of the world and I thought that was really neat! Their products range is diverse and includes body care, hair care, and fragrance.
Basics
The cost of this lotion is $26 and there is 8oz. I guess this is a bit pricer than most lotions but compared to brands like Korres, Josie Maran, L’Occitane this is actually cheaper.
You can purchase online at Red Flower or through Beauty.com
Ingredients
The thing I am most impressed with is the ingredients. It’s filled with natural and good for you oils and extracts. I actually thought most body lotions were like this but I took a look at my BBW ones and was shocked.
The first 5 ingredients are: water, aloe leaf, safflower seed oil, vegetable wax, apricot kernel oil
The first 5 ingredients for the BBW lotion are: water, glycerin, petrolatum, cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol
Scent
I thought this would be a very refreshing/floral scent. But I actually find it has a bit of a vegetal note. I was at first kind of put off by it but I’ve really grown to like it. The scent is very natural smelling in a good way. It doesn’t go up your nostrils like my Fruits & Passion or BBW lotions.
Performance
I found that this lotion absorbed really quickly. It is one of a lighter consistency, more like the BBW body lotion instead of their triple cream moisture. But it’s much easier to rub this into my skin than my other body lotions.
I would really recommend this body lotion if you are willing to splurge on an item. It makes me much happier knowing that what I’m rubbing into my skin are ingredients that I can pronounce. It really makes me think twice about using so much chemicals on my body! What do you guys use as body lotion? Have you read the ingredient list?
