NOTD: Essie "Meet the Parents"

So my preschedule post didn't post. But here it is! I was just on a cruise to Alaska and had no internet for 7 days! That explains the lack of any activity but I'm still alive! :P Here's a quick post for you guys!

I haven't done these in a long time but here's a NOTD.

This is in Essie's Meet the Parents and it's a gorgeous baby blue. This is with two coats.
Picture taken in Steveston.

I picked up this bottle at Winners for $5.99. What's your favorite summer nail color?

Three Summer Outfits

Today's post will be showing some of the summer outfits I have been wearing. These were taken a while ago as Vancouver's been having crazy hot weather recently. But these would be appropriate for a usual summer day here or hot spring/fall days! I will be going on a cruise soon so hopefully blogger automatically uploads my posts for me!

Edit: And it's back to being cloudy and cold. It's clear things get left in my drafts for too long :P

From Work to Play

Blazer- Aritzia
Tank Top- American Eagle
Black Jeans- Garage

The idea here was to kind of cheat work pants with black skinny jeans. And a blazer in a fun print makes a perfect addition for work and for going out.

Lazy Days

Sweater- Aritzia
Shorts- American Eagle

I absolutely love this sweater! The color is so summer and it's really comfy and warm. Being warm makes it okay to wear shorts on the bottom so I have my favorite pair of jean shorts.

Dress Down

Sweater- Store from Hong Kong
Dress- Hollister

One of my favorite trends that I saw in Hong Kong was how much people wore sweaters over dresses.  This dress has a low cut and a cross back which makes it hard to wear normally. But with a sweater over it, I can wear the cute print without having to worry about exposing too much ;)

How's the summer temperature in your city? Would you wear any of these?

Roundup: Battle of Body Lotions

Welcome to another edition of round ups! Here I have body lotions. I know I used to have a ton of bottles lying around but I've really tried to slim down to only keep what I want to use up.

Where did I get it: BBW boxing day- Haul

How much have I used: 2%. I've been using this alot since I got it! The scent was a bit weird at first but now I'm loving it.
First 5 ingredients: Water, aloe leaf, safflower seed oil, vegetable wax, apricot kernel oil

Overall, I think I'm going to try and stay away from Bath and Body works lotions in the future. Their packaging and sale are so attractive though gah! I do notice that drugstores also have a lot of interesting body lotions so I might venture there. But it will probably be a year until I finish my current stash!

What's your favorite brand for body lotions? Do you have a stash of it at home? Or do you just keep one or two at a time?

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

Recently I was on a hunt for a good summer foundation as the BB cream I have from Asia is now too light. I picked up the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Medium as I heard this is a hydrating BB cream that would be good for dry skin. Let's see how it is!

Basics
Shade: Medium Sheer Tint
Price: ~$7
Vendor: Target
Size: 30mL

What They Say
The 1-step wonder for a good skin day, everyday.
Packed with 8 great skin benefits for instant skin perfection Ideal for Normal Skin.
• Blurs imperfections • Brightens • Evens skin tone
• Smoothes • Hydrates • Enhances • Protects with SPF 30
 • 0% oils and heavy ingredients

What I Say
I definitely agree with 8 benefits that Maybelline claims this to have. But you can hardly say it's 8 benefits since blurs imperfections, evens skin tone, and smoothes do pretty much the same thing. I find this to be a really light weight foundation. It will cover and even out any redness, but if you have any acne to cover up, this probably will not!

I like that it has SPF especially since it's been so sunny in Vancouver recently. It definitely hydrates my skin and doesn't flake or crack. I'm not sure how it will be for oily girls, but this is great for dry skin!

The color surprisingly matches me very well but they only do have 5 color choices so the coverage will definitely be sheer to make sure it fits everyone. Overall I love this in the summer because it provides just enough coverage to make me look put together. The lasting power is pretty short but I rub my face all the time...so I'm not the best judge for that.

Swatches

It's easy to blend with fingers

Pretty good color match, seems like a beige/yellow undertone :)

Before

After- Applied to my cheek area
You can see that it blurred out some of the redness and evened out my complexion. I think the lighting changed in between the shots which made my skin look even better. But the BB cream definitely helps to add glow and help me look more polished.

Overall
I would recommend this product to anyone who's looking for a light weight foundation. It's definitely more of a tinted moisturizer than a true BB cream. Don't expect this product to give you the most perfect canvas. But this will be a quick way to even out your skin before heading out into the summer sun!

What are you wearing as foundation in the summer? Have you tried out this Maybelline BB cream?

Travel: Whistler Blackcomb, Last Minute Deals

Wow this past week has been so jam packed! I was studying very hard for my first CPA module exam. Right after that, my boyfriend took me to Whistler for a spontaneous short little trip! I just want to share some pictures and also some tips.

Last Minute Deals
Since we decided to go to Whistler so last minute, we decided to check if there are any deals available. This is actually available on the official Whistler Blackcomb webpage.

If you don't like not knowing what hotel you will get, here's my trick.

Just copy the description of the hotel, two sentences should be enough. Search it on google, and you should be able to see what hotel the special deal is for! ;)

Find the Lost Lake
This is actually very easy! Lost lake is one of the closest lakes to the village and the "hike" there is quite easy. There is almost no elevation change and the path is big and wide. It would probably be fun to rent a bike and cover more of the trails. I'd definitely recommend checking out the extensive network of trails in Whistler even if you aren't normally into this kind of stuff!

There were loads of people swimming in the Lost Lake. And if you walk around it, there are certain spots where you can get down to the lake and have a more secluded time in the water.

We saw a snake!!! *The black thing on the ground*

Find the Bears
My boyfriend really wanted to see a black bear during our trip. There's no such luck but there are lots of photo opps with bears in the Whistler village! ;)

Our Culinary Adventures
No trip is complete without eating like hungry hippos! I'm not much of a foodie though so I can't quite tell if something's cooked a little off but here's some of the places we went to.

Cafe Lupino: We came here for a quick pasta lunch. It's definitely more of a cafe than a restaurant and there's lots of self service. The pasta was very saucey which I liked, and cooked al dente. But otherwise nothing too special. The game (Germany vs. Brazil) was about to start but their TV didn't have sound! So we ate our food and left for a bar after the first German goal....

And for those of you who watched the game. During those 10 minutes that it took us to walk to a bar......FOUR more goals were scored! We arrived at Longhorn Saloon & Grill to find the score to be 5-0! For dinner, we followed our hotel's recommendation and went to

21 Steps and guess what, there are 21 steps leading up to the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the portions here. Usually fine dining gives you an itty bitty portion. It was a nice treat to dine out and have an upscale dinner and I'd recommend this place. The next morning we went to....

La Brasserie: I ordered the benedict and didn't find it as flavorful as some other places. I love the hollandise sauce and this didn't have as much of that. The hashbrowns were delicious though!

Gorgeous views at the Tantalus Viewpoint on the drive home

It was a short but sweet trip! And with the crazy ferry prices right now, it's a much cheaper get away than going to Vancouver Island. What's your favorite spot at Whistler?

I've been really enjoying doing this Makeup Bag series. It's helped me to use up some of my products and rediscover hidden gems in my collection. I'm a little late for this month's post but I literally haven't been wearing makeup because I got so burnt on Canada Day. See here

June Empties!

Here are my June empties! I will have a smiley face next to each product to describe if I liked it or not and if there's something very interesting then I will elaborate on it.

Randoms

Target Cotton Rounds :)
Centrum Multivitamin :/
Target Up & Up Nail Polish Remover :/
Love & Beauty Green Tea Makeup Wipes :/

Everything was kinda meh. Does anyone have vitamin recommendations haha? I feel like it helps my immune system but it all might be just my mind.

Makeup

Some really great items that I finished up.

Buxom Lip Polish in Dolly :) - Review
Korres Querctin & Oak Face Primer :/
Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Zero :)
MAC Dazzleglass in Get Rich Quick :) - Review
Mary Kay Lipgloss Sample :/

Love the buxom lip gloss and the UD eyeliner. I used to love the Korres primer but I don't feel like it actually does anything. The Mary Kay lipgloss was surprisingly nice to use but the color I had was too sparkly but I'd be interested in trying out more of their stuff.

Tarte Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment :/
Eau Thermale Avenue Skin Recovery Cream :/
ELF Undereye Concealer :( - Review
L'oreal Youthcode Pore Vanisher :)
The Body Shop Body Butter in Ginger Sparkle :)

I prefer the Boscia eye cream over the Tarte one. The Tarte one is a bit thin for an eye cream I think. I really enjoyed the youth code pore vanisher, but the only thing I don't like is that if you put too much or if you put another product on top of it too fast, it starts to rub off like dirt.

Tossing

I've been cleaning out my makeup collection recently and really trying to slim things down. So I finally cut some more items loose.

Maybelline Moistruizing Eye Makeup Remover- Way too greasy
Blush Brush- It's just getting rough now
CG Trublend Whipped Foundation- Been over 4 years
Stila Tinted Moisturizer- Expired in 2012

These are the makeup in the plastic bag and I'm I'm letting go of these because it's been too long and I never reach for them.

Link me to your empties! I'd love to read it. Have you slimmed down your collection recently?
