NYC Challenge: Fresh Winter Look

Today I'm bringing you my November NYC Beauty Pro challenge! Better late than never right? ;) And how appropriate of the "Ice Skating at Rockfeller Center" theme with the snowfall we had last night.

For this theme, I wanted to create a natural flushed look appropriate for the chilly weather.

Look at the snowfall! It's quite impressive for Vancouver

I was really excited by the package this month because we got some products that are new to me! The details of the items in the picture are:

Show Time Volume Waterproof Mascara $3.99

Cheek Glow Blushes $4.99
-652West Side wine

Applelicious Glossy Lip Balms $3.49
-353 Pink Lady
-354 Apple Blossom

Swatches: Pink Lady, Apple Blossom, West Side Wine

The lip balms have a cute apple design in the center and smells really fruity. Don't expect too much color pay off but it's perfect for younger girls to swipe something on their lips or even for makeup junkies having a natural day.

For this look I swiped a beige color eyeshadow all over the lid and applied the NYC Show Time Mascara. I dusted a bit of powder all over just to even out my skin and then applied NYC Cheek Glow Blush in West Side Wine. Although in the swatch, it was pretty pale, on my cheeks it's a nice healthy flush of color. Lastly I finished it off with the NYC Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm in Apple Blossom.

The whole process definitely took less than 5 minutes and would be a great daily routine for the winter time!

And a silly picture with my red mittens! Sorry NYC, got to add some Canadian pride ;)

Hope you enjoyed this easy look! Have you tried any of these NYC products? What's your go to winter look?

Candy Meister Review + GIVEAWAY

Hellooo!! Today's post will be a bit different, it's about CANDY! If you know me in real life, you'll know that I love candy. I prefer candy (especially if it's sour) over cookies, cakes, chocolates, brownies, or any other snack you can think of. So I'm really excited to be collaborating with Candy Meister to bring you this review!

What is Candy Meister?
The Candy Meister is the first and only food truck in Vancouver that serves a variety of yummy hard candies that are all natural, gluten free, dairy free, corn free and vegan friendly. The company is founded by a young Berlin couple and they wanted to bring the flavours of Germany to Vancouver.

What I like about it?
Before I tried the candy, I was really intrigued by the fact that the candy is all natural! Since I'm eating junk food, at least I should try to stay away from artificial ingredients! They also have really cool flavors and I chose the most German sounding flavors to sample haha! Each bag is approximately $3.50!

I got Mulled Wine, Bavarian Malt, and Waldmeister.
They threw in a candy jar and the Assorted Fruits!

Mulled Wine: This is very sweet tasting and tastes like a traditional candy. It's not as wine flavored as I thought it would be. The taste reminds me of the holiday season but I think this one is a bit too sweet for me.

Waldmeister: This tastes a bit salty and kind of reminds me of those asian plum snacks. I like the flavor of this! It's refreshing and fruity with a bit of a salty kick.

Bavarian Malt: This one is also pretty sweet but the flavor is very interesting! It's a more savory taste and reminds me of baked goods.

Filled up my candy jar!

I liked Waldemeister the best out of these! The other two were quite sweet but I'm really impressed at how they can make it so tastey using quality ingredients that's all natural.

These would make great stocking stuffers and would also be really nice holiday treats for yourself!

Where to find them?
The Candy Meister will be out at the Vancouver Christmas Market this year! You can find more information on the Christmas Market page here. If you are going, make sure to check Groupon or Social Shopper as I saw some promotions on there!

If you don't live in Vancouver, don't worry! They offer shipping with online orders to the USA and Canada! And this Friday for Black Friday, they are having a one day sale and all candies are $2.99! Shop online here.

Lastly, I'm bringing you a chance to win a candy prize pack consisting of 6 different flavors and a candy jar!! This is open to Canadians only, sorry! You can enter using the rafflecopter below.

The giveaway will end December 5th and I will pick one winner. Good luck!

Wild Argan Oil Collection from The Body Shop

Recently, The Body Shop released a new collection featuring the Moroccan Wild Argan Oil. Growing up, I've become familiar with the well known scents such as Satsuma and Pink Grapefruit. I was really intrigued to try this new scent and see if it's up my alley.

The whole collection has 9 products and I was sent 4 to try out. I got the body lotion, bubble bath, miracle solid oil, and the massage soap (not pictured).

Moroccan Wild Argan Oil: I remember discussing the Body Shop's social initiatives in one of my business classes before and always are curious to see what they are doing for the community. In this collection, The Body Shop is working with a cooperative created by women in South West Morocco. The partnership gives these women a chance to earn higher wages and help support their family. Since the cooperative is in the villages, this project helps the rural agricultural communities from the grassroot level.

Bubbling Bath 250mL / $12
I have to be honest, I didn't use this to take a bath. I usually take showers and just don't like the thought of sitting in my bathtub. So unfortunately I couldn't see how well this performed as a bubble bath but it was a good shower gel? 3/5

Body Lotion 250mL / $12
I am really enjoying this product and it's sitting on my night table now! The body lotion is slightly thicker than other brands such as BBW or Fruits & Passions. I really like the texture of it and the product absorbs nicely. The scent is quite strong so if I put it all over my body before going to bed, it's a bit too much. But it smells really good! Smells like honey and nuts, and quite tropical. The product hydrates my skin and keeps it nice and soft all day! 5/5

Say hello to my dry legs!

This product sounds super cool but unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of it. In the tin, it's solid, but once you put your fingers on the product, it melts and you are able to swirl your fingers around to pick up the oil. It is quite moisturizing for extra dry areas, but I hate how it leaves my finger oily too. For me, the body lotion is enough for most areas, so I will pass on this one. 2/5

Massage Soap 150g/ $6
I loooveee this massage bar! I got too excited to use it that I forgot to take a picture first whoops. On one side, you get these bumps that can act as a massager, and on the other side it is smooth. The soap leaves your skin squeaky clean. The smell is amazing (well all these products are). I haven't used a "bar soap" in ages but I would highly recommend this! 5/5

It looked nicer when it was new!

Overall, I think think the scent is really nice for the winter time and The Body Shop did a great job incorporating Argan Oil into bath and body care products. The Body Shop is having some really great sales for Black Friday and Cyber Monday (50% off sitewide) so definitely keep an eye out if you are looking to get Christmas shopping done!

Have you tried this new collection? What's your favorite The Body Shop scent?

Favorite Fall/Winter Perfumes

I don't know about you, but I love switching up my perfumes and smelling like something different everyday. Although, on most days I just forget, whoops! However, my favorite scents are citrusy, fruity, light and refreshing. This makes it a bit difficult during the fall/winter times when everyone's layering on the heavier, woody smells.

I have 3 perfumes that I've been loving for this time of the year. So if you aren't into those darker sensual perfumes but want something more appropriate for fall, then read on!

For each of the perfumes, I will share the main notes as well as a silly imagery that it conjures up for me. Since scents are so hard to describe, I thought I'd try to share what the scent makes me think of.

$39 30mL

Notes: Bergamot Leaves, Mandarin, Vanilla Orchid,

What it smells like to me: A big joyous family dinner with tons of food and laughter while the leaves are falling outside and the fireplace is roaring next to the table.

I wrote this description before searching up the perfume online and I feel like I'm pretty bang on. The style according to Sephora is: warm, comforting, sensual. It's a pretty woody smell but the scent is lighter than most other so I don't feel overwhelmed by musk.

This is what a bergamot is!

$22 50mL

Notes: Amber, Vanilla, Frangipani

What it smells like to me: I'm in a shop filled with candy and delicious baked goods. I buy it all and eat it while watching a sunset.

I've never been a fan of sweet scents but this one is really enjoyable. It starts off more light and citrusy and as it dries it becomes more sweet. The perfume was inspired by tropic islands and is a nice escape from the rainy weather.

What's also cool is that it contains Community Fair Trade organic alcohol made from sugar canes. You can learn more about it here. It's a bit fluffed up due to marketing but it's still a really neat thing that the Body Shop is doing.

A Frangipani!

Abercrombie & Fitch Perfume 41

Notes: It's been discontinued so I can't find the official notes. But from research there's notes of Sandalwood and Jasmine.

What it smells like to me: Just coming out of the ocean after surfing waves and being greeted with warm towel from one of those AF boys ;)

This scent is pretty unisex and almost kind of smells like a cologne which is what makes it smell so good. It's described as an aquatic smell so it's great for those days when you need a refreshing and pick me up scent.

What's your go to scent in the winter time?

Please give my blog a vote in the MiB award if you have a second :)

October Empties!

It has been a whillleee for an empties post! But I have a couple items to share. Since it's been so long, I will most likely use emoticons to give a quick review of the product.

1. Up and Up Cotton Rounds
I'm trying the more expensive one at Target and like it much better!

2. Impress Nails by Broadway Nails
See my review here. I'm liking these more and more especially for special occasions.

3. Olay Fresh Effects Makeup Removal Cloths
 Effective and is gentle.

4. Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes
The smell was a bit weird and slightly stung my eyes.

5.Crest Complete Extra Whitening
 Like it!

6. Garnier Fructis Damage Eraser Shampoo
I really like this line, it makes my hair so smooth!! See review here.

7. Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick in Skinny Dip
One of the first nude lipsticks that I liked! See review here!

8. Tarte Maracuja Oil
I did like this, but now that I'm using lotion again, I realize how much more I like it compared to oils. I think facial oil is just not my thing.

9. OFF Spray Insect Repellents
This is a random item but this was a lifesaver in the summer months! The small portable format made it easy to toss into my purse if I was going out to the park.

10. Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Spark
This was kinda meh, nothing bad but nothing special. See review here!

11. L'Occitane Hand Cream in Subtle Violet
At first I didn't like the scent but now I love it; it's really sophisticated and light.

12. Urban Decay Primer Potion
One of the most hyped products in the beauty community but I don't have oily lids or deal with creasing so I don't see too much difference when I use it.

13. H2O Marine Calm Rescue Serum
 So silky feeling, love this!

And here are a couple of things I threw away.

The Paul Mitchell hair spray makes my hair so stiff. I have two loose eyeshadows from a small company called Vicious Bakery. The products are not that bad but I can't deal with loose products. Also throwing away an old shaving cream.

I'm throwing away a tarte lipgloss and a burt's bees lip balm because the smell is a bit different! I'm so sad about the Tarte one because I just got it last Christmas and haven't even used it yet.

I LOVE the Springtime in Provence candle from BBW. I actually finished burning this.

That's it for me! Link me to your empties! Also I've been watching decluttering videos on youtube and it's really fun haha. Anyone else watch them?

Please give me a vote if you like my blog :)
