HELLO FALL! I am currently in Florida still pretending that summer’s forever, but I will have to come to terms that it is now fall. What I do love about fall though is the transitioning of darker lips. I’m a huge fan of lip products as I feel it can completely change up a look and it actually shows up on me instead of eyeshadow.
One trend I’ve noticed is lip color with a brown undertone. Today, I’m showing you two lipsticks that are leading the trend, one that is more everyday and one that is quite bold. Additionally, I found some fantastic drugstore dupes that are less than 1/10th of the price!
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Very Victoria- 3.5g
Find it at Nordstromand on Charlotte Tilbury ($39CAD)
Charlotte Tilbury recently launched in Canada and has caused a beauty frenzy! Their Matte Revolution line consists of 10 shades that create fuller, wider lips. The shade I have is Very Victoria which is a taupey nude inspired by Victoria Beckham.
I find the lipstick quite long lasting and hydrating! The color is buildable too so you can either have a sheer hint of color or a full on pigmented lip. However, make sure you put on lip balm and exfoliate ahead of time as it does not hide lines or cracks.
Dior Rouge Dior Couture Colour in 956 Unique- 3.4g
Find it on Sephora.com ($42CAD)
A more bold color comes from this Dior lipstick appropriate named Unique. This is a deep brown based berry that would be amazing for a night out or when you want to make a statement. The formula is very creamy but you do need to be careful when applying this. I usually need a lip brush to help out or a q-tip to take a way mistakes.
The only downside is that it’s quite heavily fragranced. It has that very traditional makeup smell that is a bit too much for me. Luckily this is not an every day color and I’d be willing to put up with the smell for the color.
So by now you might be thinking, those are gorgeous lipsticks but $40?! That could get me a steak. Don’t worry, I got you covered too as I found these NYC lippies that really gave off a similar look in my collection.
As a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Very Victoria, I found the NYC Expert Last Lip Color in 444 Chocolate Chip. The shade is very similar although the NYC lipstick is not a matte finish. There is a slightly sweet scent to the NYC lipstick and the formula is honestly pretty awesome.
For the Dior Rouge in Unique, I found the NYC lipstick in 320 Mahogany to be a great dupe! The color is a tad deeper but gives off the same vibe and it even has a similar scent. The packaging is no where as elegant but your wallet will thank you.

I’m loving the luxury of the Charlotte Tilbury and the Christian Dior lipsticks. Not only are the shades and formula spot on, the packaging exudes elegance and sophistication. However, if you are on a budget, huge props to NYC for their updated formulas which gives similar results but at a fraction of the price!
Would you rock these shades? What fall trend are you most looking forward to?
