New for Fall 2015, Stila introduced the “Modern Goddess” collection. The creators envisioned feather light textures contrasting with dramatic pigments while emphasizing a flawless skin canvas. One of my favorite items from the collection is the Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector and I’ll also review the Wonder Brush. So read on to find out more!
Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector
11g – $51CAD/$39USD
Available on Sephora and on Stila.com
First up, the Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector is a very innovative product combining the best of a powder and a cream foundation. The product has a slightly bouncy, putty texture which is very interesting. There are five shades available: fair, light, medium, tan and deep. I have it in the shade medium.
The packaging includes a large mirror and a sponge. I love that there’s a flap in between the sponge and the product so that it keeps it sanitary. The packaging works so well with the theme of “Modern Goddess”, and the golden casing feels sleek and sturdy.
I’d say this gives light to medium coverage. I use this with the Wonder Brush ย but you can use any large dense powder brushes (there’s a great one from ELF for $3)! I find that it evens out my skin tone and gives a beautiful airbrushed look. You can also create a higher coverage by using the sponge and I would dab this on any trouble spots.
Up close shot of the texture
A bit orange when swatched but it blends out beautifully and does not have any orange tinge.
There is no scent to the product and it feels absolutely weightless on the skin! When you dip you finger into the product, it is a bit squishy and creamy. But when you swatch it on to your skin and blend out, it disappears into a silky powder. It also does an amazing job filling in pores and creating a very smooth surface. I’ve been dealing with large pores recently and this product really helps to diminish the look of them on either side of my nose.
Left: Before; Right: After
I would definitely recommend this for a light coverage foundation that looks natural and smooth! If you have a lot of imperfections that you are looking to cover up, it’s not the best product for you as patting on using the sponge is time consuming and using a brush would result in a coverage that’s too light. However, I love the weightless feel and the convenience of the compact so I can touch up during the day.
Wonder Brush for Face and Body
$75CAD/$58USD
Available on Sephora and onย Stila.com
Stila’s vision was to create a brush that can do everything: sculpting, blending, highlighting, buffing, or whatever you desire. The brush is meant for the face and body and can be used for powders, liquids, and creams. The first thing that jumped at me is the price. My makeup brush collection is made up of drugstore brushes with the most expensive brands coming from Real Techniques and Sonia Kashuk. Although, this brush works very well with the putty perfector, there is no way I would spend $75 on a brush!
However, for those of you who do splurge on a good brush, this one is very dense and has soft synthetic bristles. It comes with a velvet pouch to keep the brush clean. It works well to place bronzers on as contour as well as blending in foundation all over the face.
Overall, I really enjoyed the putty perfector and it’ll be going into my daily makeup routine! I would definitely recommend you to check it out as well. Unfortunately with the crazy high price tag, I would not run out for the Wonder Brush as I find that there are some great drugstore alternatives to makeup brushes.
Make sure to also check out my review of the Stila Huge Extreme Mascara and the Stila Pefect Me Perfect Hue palette. These are two of my other favorite items from the brand!
