With the sunshine gone, the range of outdoor activities available during the long weekend dramatically shrinks. For those of you who just want to cuddle up in the blanket during the long weekend, here are some happenings at restaurants around the city that doesn’t require being cold or tired (which is how I imagine every hike to be).
1) Irish Heather Long Table Series
For September 7th, the menu is a Chicken Ballantines with roasted pepper, onion, kale and cauliflower puree. The matching beer is the Eastern Czeck Pilsner (Russell Brewing Company). I actually like the look of the menu for September 21st better as it features an oven roasted Steelhead Trout with the White Rabbit Hefeweizen.
2) Free Tapas at Salt Tasting Room

“I am really curious to see how Vancouver responds to this kind of tapas-style program,” said Sean Heather, owner of Salt Tasting Room. “Will guests come for drinks and accept this kind of free tapas experience – will they embrace the concept the way it’s embraced in Spain?”
Curious foodies who are ready for a taste of San Sebastiรกn can visit Salt Tasting Room, September 8 to October 11, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Guests can order a tasting flight or glass of wine, beer or sherry, and enjoy complimentary tapas to sample Bosa’s new Spanish product line.
3) Seafood Boil at Boulevard
It sounds absolutely delicious although $49 is quite the price to pay. ย It is currently sold out but you can email cgoleski@boulevardvancouver.ca and be added to the waitlist.
