Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara Review

January 11, 2016

Up next in my January Mascara review series is the Revlon Bold Lacquer Length and Volume Mascara. I actually finished this mascara in my latest Project Pan, but I wanted to put up this review!
Basics
Name: Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara
Shade: Blackest Black(3 options)
Price: $7.99 CAD
Size: 7mL
Find it at your local drugstore
What Revlon says:
“The Ultimate Black Bold Definition! Get Volume + Length to the nth degree. Our first mascara with only high shine black fibers.”
This mascara has a standard wand with natural bristles. The bristles are tightly packed together and sometimes contains too much product. There was a lot of product build up in my brushes as I used it. I had to use a tissue paper to squeeze out some of the product to ensure it doesn’t clump my lashes.
I like that the tapered end makes it easy to pick up the lashes in the corner. Although the Revlon description says “high shine”, I wouldn’t say that you get a super dark dramatic lash look. This does well with everyday length but does not provide a lot of volume nor “high shine”.
I do like that it didn’t make my eyelashes feel crunchy. It kept a soft fluttery feel all day so it would be good for going to school or work where you want to feel comfortable and don’t mind a bit less drama. It wore well for 4 hours and still looked fresh and lifted. However at the 8 hour mark, the lashes have drooped and I lost a lot of length.
There are lots of online reviews that say this mascara flaked on them but I didn’t experience any flaking or smudging.

Mascara Ratings
Big lashes: 4/5
Blackness: 4/5
No clumping: 3/5
No flaking/smudging: 5/5
Easy to take off: 5/5
Value: 4/5

Overall 25/30    B
Overall, the mascara was just okay. With tons of great drugstore options these days, I’d probably pass on this unless you find a great sale. It does offer a comfortable wear and good length but there was nothing too special about the formula.

No reservations are required and the fare is just the basic fare (approximately $4!) 🚅
Check online for the most updated timetable but the most current is
9:32, 11:32, 13:32, and 15:32 leaving Osaka for Kyoto!
We showed up 30 minutes before boarding and was the first ones for car 5. Car 3 seems to be the most popular for the cherry blossoms!

I've been using this a lot on my vacation and it stays on amazingly well all day even with the humidity.
I went for a more unique shade but all the basic browns and neutrals are available too!
.
Would you swap your current eyeshadow for this?

1. BUYING TICKETS 🎟 - Tickets are about $30 CAD each and you can purchase online directly. I'd recommend buying one month in advance to secure the 9am time slot!

2. WEAR A DRESS, if you want 👗- there's warning that the mirrors will reflect and your undergarments would show 🤭 but unless someone's standing right on top of you, it won't be visible. I wore shorts to avoid this but I think a skirt or dress would have been totally fine.

3. GO EARLY 😶‍🌫️ - I know, oldest tip in the book but it took us almost an hour to get there from shinjuku. We arrived at 850am for 9am entry and there was already a huge line. We got in around 930am.

4. READ THE PLAQUES 📜 - either before or after the exhibits, there are plaques that explain the exhibit. Although teamlab is amazing for photos, it adds a layer of depth if you understand what the exhibit is trying to convey. A lot of the interactive artwork shows the connection of humans and the environment we live in. It's super interesting!!
