I’m starting off the month with a relatively new blush launch from Kat Von D. If you are looking for some blush inspirations, make sure you follow along this month as I review four different blushes! Recently, I’ve been dwindling down my blush collection as I find that most colors look similar on my cheeks. The Kat Von D Shade + Light contouring palette was such a hit! So when I saw that these two toned blushes are coming out, I made sure to pick up one! The concept behind this is that you can contour with color. After swatching in stores, I chose Bonnie and Clyde.
Packaging: Product come in a black plastic case that has a clear front. The product feels sturdy but nothing super unique. Inside the box is an instruction card featuring three ways you can use the product. This is very helpful as even I was a bit confused on how best to use the two products.
Color: When I was looking at this online and even in store, I thought it was more of a purple shade. But when swatched Bonnie (darker side) is a purple based pink but mostly comes off pink on the skin. Clyde (lighter side) is a pale Barbie pink that gives aย light flush. Looking at all six shades I find that the lighter shade is a bit of a throwaway for medium-darker skin toned girls as it might end up looking too chalky.
Formulation: The formula of this blush is quite different from other Kat Von D products. I was expecting a very creamy pigmented blush but the powder was actually pretty stiff and only average pigmentation. The more sheer pigmentation can be good if you are just starting out and is more foolproof, but I’d rather not be packing on color as it can easily look cakey.
Lasting Power: The other letdown on this blush is that it only lasts about 4-6 hours. I usually associate Kat Von D products with very long lasting staying power. But by the end of the work day I can’t really notice any blush left on my cheeks.
Overall I was not very impressed with this. Since I only wanted to keep items I really like in my blush collection, I ended up returning this item. I probably wouldn’t recommend it as the two shades did not really work well together and I’d rather have a blushย that has more pigmentation
Don’t miss any of my other blush reviews! I’m in the hunt for a good purple or nude blush so give me your recommendations!
