London Drugs Annual Beauty Event – New Releases Preview!

July 7, 2016

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending London Drugs Annual Beauty event! This was the first time I was invited and I was very excited! We were taken by limo from downtown to a studio space where 16 vendors were set up to introduce us to the newest releases!
I’ll be reviewing a lot of the products in the upcoming months but wanted to share a quick overview of all the new items in this post!
Almay: From the Age Essentials line, we were given the lip treatment, foundation, concealer and makeup wipes. The foundation looks super boring in the bottle but I’ve tried it once and really like it so far! It has medium coverage with a very weightless feel!

Annabelle Cosmetics: New from Annabelle is a collection of mascaras to meet your every need! The most unique one is the Expandable Mascara which allows you to twist the wand to get the look you want. There are also some new lippies being released and I will be reviewing one next month.
Calvin Klein: The classic Euphoria scent is spinning off a cousin: Deep Euphoria. The scent is floral and musky with top notes of cascalone and black magic rose. Samples were not available yet but looking forward to it!
Conair: A new release is the Diamond Brilliance Ionic Straightening Brush. It combines a straightener and a hair brush in one. I tried it at the event and it made my hair feel silky and smooth. I’d really like to try this!
e.l.f: I’ve been using elf products for a long time and still are using products from my huge haul 3 years ago. The samples include a face primer, blush and bronzing powder, matte eyeshadow palette, and contour palette.
Essie: Okay I’m so excited about this! I love essie colors but always had a problem with their small brush. The new Gel Couture line up features WIDE brushes, yay! It almost covers my nail in one stroke and honestly I feel like the lasting power is better too. I’ve gotten minimal chipping and it’s been 5 days. The old essie chips on me within 2 days! There are 42 shades available and I have Touch Up
Kiss: I’ve had a lot of experience with Kiss products but with nails or lashes. Their new makeup line up looks amazing. They had some seriously pigmented colorful eyeshadows. Unfortunately I didn’t get any to try but keep your eyes out on the internet for swatches!
Lise Watier: I actually missed the Lise Watier booth as it got too busy! One new product from them is the Twist & Sharp Automatic Long Lasting Eye Stylo that self sharpens!

Makeup Revolution: I could not believe that Makeup Revolution was participating in this event! Canada never gets the cool brands! I first played with the brand in Ulta and was obsessed with the quality and pigmentation of their palettes. They’ll be entering the Canadian market this fall at London Drugs! I’ll be doing a full swatch and review on the 5 palettes I received.
Neostrata: I’ve always seen Neostrata at stores but have never tried anything from them. They actually have quite a few cleansers and some really interesting ones like Cleansing Foaming Water and Detoxifying Micellar Gel. I’m currently trying to settle into a skincare routine so I might incorporate these products in the next couple of months. A product that will be available in September 2016 is the Pore Minimizer Anti-shine Hydrating Gel. I’m very interested to see how it would work.
NYX: I feel like NYX is always releasing new products and I can’t wait to try some of these. The lip cream is in the shade Vancouver!! And I’m obsessed with it. It’s not very summer appropriate but it will be pulled out for the fall for sure! The London Drugs in downtown Vancouver has the biggest selection of NYX that I’ve seen. So definitely go browse the beauty department there if you are looking for NYX.
OGX: I’m currently using the OGX Biotin set in my shower and love it! We checked out three new collections from OGX. There’s the Strength & Body Bamboo + Fiber collection to help your hair appear fuller, thicker, and more voluminous. There’s Fight Fallout + Niacin3 to exfoliate and stimulate your scalp. Lastly there’s Gravity defying & Hydration which aims to a be an ultra lightweight formula.
Revlon: I love it when drugstore brands come out with palettes! I’ve been using the Eyes, Cheeks + Lips palette and a full review will be coming soon. The Not just Nudes eyeshadow palette also has some gorgeous combinations of color. Lastly there’s a new PhotoReady Insta-Fix Highlighting Stick and some new shades in the Ultra UD Matte Lipcolor.

Sally Hansen: I’ve always been a fan of Sally Hansen’s brush and polish formulas. They have a new Color Therapy range that is suppose to nourish your nails. I can’t wait to try this as my nails peel all the time.
Schwarzkopf: This will be my first time trying Schwarzkopf and the product they were featuring is the Biotin Volume set which was developed for fine, limp hair. Also I’m going to try and color my hair with the Keratin Color box dye which is almost odourless!

StriVectin: Another brand that I’ve seen in stores but never tried. Their new products include the Multi Action Restorative Cream which fights 12 signs of aging. I might give this my mom to try. The other product I’ve already started using and quite like it! It’s the Overnight Replenishing Moisture Mask and it gives a great boost of hydration.
Youngblood: Lastly we have Youngblood which is a luxury mineral cosmetics line made for consumers looking for clean, natural products. Their most popular product is the Natural Mineral Foundation. Along with that we were given a concealer and a Mineral Mist.
In addition to sampling so much makeup, it was a great time to catch up with friends I’ve made through beauty blogging including Whitney from Macarons and Mischief.
So that was a huge post and I hope some of these items caught your eyes! When I told my friends, most people were surprised that London Drugs sells makeup but they actually have a very large department and carry brands that aren’t found anywhere else in Canada! So next time you go to London Drugs, make sure to give the cosmetics section a browse!
Which of these new releases are you most excited for?

.
Which one do you like?
Hellllooo fall! 🍂🍁 In just a few weeks, the Hellllooo fall! 🍂🍁

In just a few weeks, the leaves are going to be golden red at Trout Lake!! 🤩😍. What are your favorite fall foliage spots in Vancouver?
Editing this post made MY MOUTH WATER!! 🤤🤤 Editing this post made MY MOUTH WATER!! 🤤🤤

Here are the best things I ate in Japan - restaraunt edition! (do you want to see one for snacks? or do you want to see a worst things I ate in Japan?)
Prices of the specific dish listed below.

1. Kanoko, try their special green tea infused soba or normal soba. I loved the dashi and tempura. Perfect lunch option for after visiting the tori gates. 1,300 Yen 🍜

2. Okonomiyaki Sakaba, you can pick the inside filling and a lot of the options were meat based. The sauce on top is delicious and you may be surprised the inside is mostly cabbage and not flour. 1,000 Yen🍥

3. Udon Bo Osaka, I tried out a cold dipping udon and it was excellent! They have a special yuzu sauce and the tempura is amazing too. 1,250 Yen 🍤

4. Roast Beef Ohno, the most affordable way to eat wagyu! Loved the sauces and nice side veggie dishes too. 1,750 Yen 🥓

5. Fuunji, flavorful dipping ramen with a vending machine to order! 1,400 (with egg + bamboo add on)🍱

6. Maguro Koya, holy crap I'm addicted to Ootoro now. So glad we splurged and got the double portion. We also tried the chutoro sashimi to compare cuts. 3,200 Yen 🍣

Hope this provides some delicious inspo for the best food in Japan!
Here's what I found from Ragtag in Japan!! 🤩🤩
I've definitely had my eye on a Dior piece and it's extra special that this design is a Japan exclusive.
I have to say, second hand designer shopping is a lot harder than I remembered! There are SO many stores now, I probably visited 20+ and the prices are not so cheap anymore 🤧🤧
.
A similar card holder from Dior is probably $600 CAD + tax. I got this one for ~$350 CAD. It's in excellent condition but there was no dust bag nor box.
