Summer is in full swing and for July, I wanted to review products that will bring a glow and I decided on bronzers. I’m also including face palettes that contains a bronzer like this one. Paul & Joe is known for their whimsical designs, and the summer 2016 collection is no exception. This super cute face palette is up for review today!
Basics
Name: Paul & Joe Face and Eye Colour Palettes
Shade: 3 shades. I have Sunshine & Sand
Price: $36
Amount of Product: 5g
Availability: At select Shoppers Drug Mart BeautyBoutique locations and beautyboutique.ca
Packaging
The palette is in a slim cardboard case similar to most Paul & Joe products. The outside of the palette features a rose that’s repeated. On the inside, each of the products is in a triangle pan and is suppose to be the “sail” of a sailboat. The lid snaps shut with a magnetic close and since it’s so slim, I’d gladly pack this in a travel bag to have all my cheek options in one place.
Colors
This palette comes with a deep bronze, creamy yellow, and mid tone pink. The colors look pretty generic and what Paul & Joe is calling “nude retro shades”. The bronzer has a slight satin finish but I used it as a contour shade and it looks quite natural. The middle shade looks like a matte finish but it actually has this amazing pearly sheen. The pink shade is not as crazy as it looks in the pan and is a natural healthy flush of color. The three colors really do work well to create a cohesive cheek look.
Formula
The product can be used for the cheek or eyes but I’ve mostly tested it out as a face palette. The colours actually contains skin softening agents such as Orange Flower Water, White Lily Extract, Jojoba Seed Oil, Rosemary extract and Rose Canina Fruit Extract. I haven’t used it enough to see if there’s any skincare results and it probably wouldn’t show, but it’s good to know that there’s some skincare benefits in your makeup!
The powders were smooth to use although not very creamy. The colors blended easily and layered super nicely with each other. The colors were also pigmented and very easy to build! The only complaint I have is that the pans are relatively small and might not fit big brushes.
Picture on the right wearing all three shades from the palette.

Paul & Joe Summer 2016 Come Sail Away collection
In addition to the Face & Eye Palette, there are 2 other items in the Paul & Joe Summer 2016 Come Sail Away collection.
Lipstick Refill ($20)– The cat lipsticks are back!! When I saw these last fall, I was seriously obsessed with the lipstick even though I wasn’t even that much of a cat fan. For the summer collection, there are 3 shades, each with a transparent outer layer with nourishing oils and an inner color core. I’m sure these are going to sell out so make sure to get your hands on one!
The lipsticks come in a bullet refill and you’ll need to get a case. There are two limited edition summer collection cases for $7 each! Both have a cream top and one has a navy bottom and the other has a baby blue bottom.
Silky Pressed Powder Compact ($48)– As if there could be even cuter products, Paul & Joe released this adorable powder compact that comes with a matching pouch. The translucent powder uses nourishing ingredients to prevent dryness while simultaneously keeping shine and dullness at bay. It is quite light and very smooth. I have the shade 01 which is suppose to improve complexion and enhance clarity. I found it a bit too light and ashy on my skin tone and 02 might work better.
Out of the three items, this one is the least functional as the powder is quite light and is meant to be a perfecting veil versus a foundation. It does come packaged in a nice box though so if you have the money to spare, this is a nice double duty home decor piece.
