Original Grain Minimalist Watch Review + Giveaway

August 23, 2016

I am so excited to share my review and give you a chance to win an Original Grain Minimalist watch ($149USD currently on sale for $119USD)! When I was younger, I totally didn’t understand the allure of a watch. When my parents tried to buy me one, I snubbed them like a teenager would. However, since I started going to university for business I’ve been wearing a watch every single day and love the classy and easy design of the Original Grain Minimalist watch.
My first watch was the Michael Kors Parker Glitz watch which I got almost four years ago! Now, I rotate between that one, a simple Fossil watch, and a silver Casio watch. However, I was totally missing a watch that would be dressy without the glitz of my Michael Kors watch. The new Minimalist design from Original Grain is perfect!
The watch arrived in a beautiful wooden box with the logo stamped on the front. There is a velvet inner layer that holds the actual watch. The Minimalist is the thinnest wood bezel ever cut for a watch and the face is a 40mm case.

There are eight color options available and mine is Zebrawood/Rosegold. I was really missing something like this in my watch collection. The color coordinates with tons of outfits and it’s suitable for business, parties and even casual days.
I love how thin the casing is and it’s super comfortable to wear. There is no second hand so that took a little getting used to. However, the watch has been completely accurate (not like my MK watch) for the past month. The only thing I’d have liked to see on the face is the date display.  The straps are made of leather and there was enough pre punched holes to fit comfortably on my wrist. I have a pretty small wrist so usually I always have to get it altered.

To get a bit more technical, the face features mineral crystal glass, a 1.7mm wood bezel inlay, 40mm case and the case height is 6mm. The watch runs on a Japanese quartz movement and the bands can be removed to customize with any of your other watch bands.

The only things I wish this watch had were the second hand, a date display, and a more water resistant design. However, overall I’ve been loving the look of this watch and how it matches a large majority of my outfits. The price is very reasonable too for a quality made and sleek watch.

Here's what I found from Ragtag in Japan!! 🤩🤩
I've definitely had my eye on a Dior piece and it's extra special that this design is a Japan exclusive.
I have to say, second hand designer shopping is a lot harder than I remembered! There are SO many stores now, I probably visited 20+ and the prices are not so cheap anymore 🤧🤧
.
A similar card holder from Dior is probably $600 CAD + tax. I got this one for ~$350 CAD. It's in excellent condition but there was no dust bag nor box.

No reservations are required and the fare is just the basic fare (approximately $4!) 🚅

We showed up 30 minutes before boarding and was the first ones for car 5. Car 3 seems to be the most popular for the cherry blossoms!

I've been using this a lot on my vacation and it stays on amazingly well all day even with the humidity.
I went for a more unique shade but all the basic browns and neutrals are available too!

Would you swap your current eyeshadow for this?
