Almay Age Essentials Concealer Review in 300 Medium

September 5, 2016

Can you believe it’s now September?! We got treated to a month of sunshine in Vancouver but as soon as September came, it’s back to rain and clouds. September is also back to school and new jobs for a lot of people. So I thought it was appropriate to review concealers for this month. I received the Almay Age Essentials Concealer from the London Drugs Beauty event a couple of months back.  This claims to conceal age spots & under eye circles and also has an added SPF20 to prevent future skin damage. Total product  is 3.7 grams.
I haven’t had much luck with concealers in a stick so I didn’t have very high expectations. It reminds me of the makeup I used to have in 2007! The product is in a purple tube that’s a classic Almay color and a twist up tube. I like that this concealer has a tip so it gets right in the corners.

Shade Match

The shade I have is 300 Medium which at first I thought would be too dark and too yellow. But it actually matches my skin pretty well! Now that I’m tanned, I’m probably between NC30-NC35. The shade is a true skin tone shade so it’s not one of those color correcting shades. It would be good for covering blemishes as well as undereye. But it doesn’t give that additional brightening that a lighter shade or a different undertone might give.

Formula

The formula is quite creamy and smooth. But once you pat down it dries to a powder finish quite fast. Make sure you work quick as where you put the product down is likely where it’s going to stay!  There was no stickiness or creasing which is good as I have lots of little lines underneath my eyes. The finish is a pretty thin layer of coverage so it’s more of an every day use than a heavy duty concealer. Also I’m not sure about the anti aging claims as I don’t know what makes the formula any different from a normal concealer.
But what’s important is how it performs so let’s see some pictures!
With my makeup done but no concealer.
Other products worn on my face:
Youngblood Natural Mineral Foundation in Soft Beige
Pixi Endless Brow Gel Pen
Makeup Revolution Contour Palette
Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette
Joe Fresh Lash Focus Mascara
Mary Kay Lipstick in Crushed Berry
After applying Almay concealer.
I think the difference is actually quite noticeable in photos! In real life I think it covers the dark circles but kind of has that grey-ish tinge I get from almost all concealers I try. It doesn’t particularly brighten up the area but I think it matches very well with my skin color and in photos I’m amazed by how flawless my undereye area looks!!
I think this concealer really delivers on the results even though the formula is not necessarily anti-aging! I imagine this to be better for someone that’s oilier as it dries quite powdery.
Overall I’m pretty impressed with how this one worked. What’s your current concealer on rotation? Is there any concealer in particular you’d like to see a review on?

Here's what I found from Ragtag in Japan!! 🤩🤩
I've definitely had my eye on a Dior piece and it's extra special that this design is a Japan exclusive.
I have to say, second hand designer shopping is a lot harder than I remembered! There are SO many stores now, I probably visited 20+ and the prices are not so cheap anymore 🤧🤧
.
A similar card holder from Dior is probably $600 CAD + tax. I got this one for ~$350 CAD. It's in excellent condition but there was no dust bag nor box.

No reservations are required and the fare is just the basic fare (approximately $4!) 🚅

We showed up 30 minutes before boarding and was the first ones for car 5. Car 3 seems to be the most popular for the cherry blossoms!

I've been using this a lot on my vacation and it stays on amazingly well all day even with the humidity.
I went for a more unique shade but all the basic browns and neutrals are available too!

Would you swap your current eyeshadow for this?
