Creating a beautiful highlight has been all the rage in the beauty community in the past year. The girls on Instagram have the most beautifully sculpted cheeks but would likely blind someone in public. I’ve been testing out some different highlighters and will be sharing a review each week this month. I did a quick impressions on the Joe Fresh brand earlier this year when it first released at Shoppers. Now, I’ve had a bit more time to play with the Joe Fresh Highlighter Powder for a full review.
Basics
Name: Joe Fresh Highlighter Powder in Champagne
Shade: 2 Shades
Price: $8CAD
Size: 3g
Available at Joe Fresh and Shoppers Drug Mart
Packaging: The highlighter is in a sturdy plastic packaging with “Joe Fresh” printed across the front. The packaging is pretty simple but the casing closes with a very satisfying click. When the highlighter was new, there was kind of a “JF” embossing in the powder. (Can you still see it?) The photos right now are after a bit of wear.
Color:Β This shade looks like a classic “champagne” neutral shade in the pan. When swatched, I feel like it gives more of an icy glow as compared to some highlighters with a golden glow. I recently just got super tanned from vacation so it looks a bit harsh against my skin tone. This would be best for those that are lighter skinned or prefer a cool toned glow.
Formula: The powder is very smooth to the touch but is lacking the creaminess of other cheek products that I enjoy. Since I have really dry skin, I feel like this powder sits on my cheeks as it is not that creamy in texture. Also, I find unless I wear a more liquidy foundation underneath, the products do not “stick” to my skin and therefore the shimmer either travels or wears off easily.
Overall, I wouldn’t say this is my favorite highlighter. I think products with a golden glow are more flattering on my complexion. Additionally, since the product is drier in texture, it does not lasts for very long on my dry skin. I liked the Joe Fresh lip gloss a lot more than the highlighter so you may be interested in checking that out.
