Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix Highlighting Stick Review & Demo- Pink Light

October 16, 2016

Revlon has a fantastic Photoready range that includes the cult favorite foundation (and now a new Insta-filter foundation), powder, and concealer. Now, they’ve also introduced a highlighting stick into the range! I received the Revlon Photoready Insta-fix Highlighting stick during an event in the summer but it’s not very talked about yet.

Basics

Name: Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix Highlighting Stick
Shade: 2 Shades- Pink Light and Gold Light
Price: $13.99 USD
Size: 8.9g
Available at your local drugstore (such as Ulta and Walmart)

Packaging

Similar to the Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix makeup stick, the product is in a twist up tube form. The cap is color coded so Pink Light as a pale pink cover. The twist up feels flimsy which is a bit disappointing. The first few twists makes it feel like the stick is going to fall off, it gets more secure once you start twisting up but the overall feeling is unfortunately cheap for a pretty expensive drugstore product.

Color

Pink Light is a very pale icy shade. It swatches almost silver and is very cool in color. I think this would look best on those that have more fair skin. Currently I’m very tanned and I feel like it contrasts too harshly against my skin. However, on photos it does provide a gorgeous highly reflective glow. See photos below.

Formula

The formula is very interesting and impressed me. It glides onto the skin very smoothly, never skipping or tugging. You would expect the formula to be very creamy but it’s actually really thin. It feels absolutely weightless on the skin and lasts a good 4-6 hours. The thinness is nice as it doesn’t feel like you are disturbing the makeup underneath the highlight. There is also no shimmer or glitter so there’s no risks glitter falling to other parts of your face.
The other thing that surprised me is the way this product reflects. When I look straight on in the mirror I actually do not see the product at all. However, when I turn my head to catch the light, the highlight is in full force!

Swatches

As you can see, it provides a very strong reflective highlight. This shade isn’t the best for my skin right now but I think Gold Light would look a lot better. I’m very impressed by the formula and I think it looks great in person and on camera! The entire Photoready line is usually higher priced but at $13.99USD, this product is leaving the drugstore price range. I’d recommend to wait until you can find this on sale. I wish the packaging felt a bit more luxurious as then it would better complement the higher price tag. If you are looking for a good drugstore option, I would suggest the Makeup Revolution Vivid baked Highlighter.

Hellllooo fall! 🍂🍁 In just a few weeks, the Hellllooo fall! 🍂🍁

In just a few weeks, the leaves are going to be golden red at Trout Lake!! 🤩😍. What are your favorite fall foliage spots in Vancouver?
Editing this post made MY MOUTH WATER!! 🤤🤤 Editing this post made MY MOUTH WATER!! 🤤🤤

Here are the best things I ate in Japan - restaraunt edition! (do you want to see one for snacks? or do you want to see a worst things I ate in Japan?)
Prices of the specific dish listed below.

1. Kanoko, try their special green tea infused soba or normal soba. I loved the dashi and tempura. Perfect lunch option for after visiting the tori gates. 1,300 Yen 🍜

2. Okonomiyaki Sakaba, you can pick the inside filling and a lot of the options were meat based. The sauce on top is delicious and you may be surprised the inside is mostly cabbage and not flour. 1,000 Yen🍥

3. Udon Bo Osaka, I tried out a cold dipping udon and it was excellent! They have a special yuzu sauce and the tempura is amazing too. 1,250 Yen 🍤

4. Roast Beef Ohno, the most affordable way to eat wagyu! Loved the sauces and nice side veggie dishes too. 1,750 Yen 🥓

5. Fuunji, flavorful dipping ramen with a vending machine to order! 1,400 (with egg + bamboo add on)🍱

6. Maguro Koya, holy crap I'm addicted to Ootoro now. So glad we splurged and got the double portion. We also tried the chutoro sashimi to compare cuts. 3,200 Yen 🍣

Hope this provides some delicious inspo for the best food in Japan!
Here's what I found from Ragtag in Japan!! 🤩🤩
I've definitely had my eye on a Dior piece and it's extra special that this design is a Japan exclusive.
I have to say, second hand designer shopping is a lot harder than I remembered! There are SO many stores now, I probably visited 20+ and the prices are not so cheap anymore 🤧🤧
.
A similar card holder from Dior is probably $600 CAD + tax. I got this one for ~$350 CAD. It's in excellent condition but there was no dust bag nor box.
