Now that it’s almost winter time, I really need to step up my body care as I have very dry skin! If you are starting to get flaky, make sure to spend some time after every shower to moisturize head to toe. There’s a lot of new products that came out recently so I’ve rounded up new releases from OGX, BVSpa and Mary Kay to share some new body products for winter!
OGX
I love OGX hair care products and was so excited to hear that they are coming out with a body collection. The Argan Oil and the Biotin hair care collections are some of my favorite! I’m sure many of you have seen OGX in the hair care aisle before.
Radiant Glow+ Argan Oil
The Radiant Glow+ Argan Oil features the exact same scent as the shampoo and conditioner. The scent is a bit sweet and nutty. Although I love the scent as a shampoo, I’m not sure how I feel about it all over my body. Maybe it’s because I’m so used to smelling it on my hair.
Quenching+ Sea Mineral Moisture
This is a very fresh scent and features deep sea minerals, green algae, and sea kelp to soften the skin and retain its moisture. I actually find the smell a bit too fresh and feel like I came straight out of the ocean. It definitely has the sea water, and salt smell so it might not be appealing for everyone but would be a nice scent to wake up to in the morning.
The texture of the body wash is perfect. It’s not too runny as I find some body wash just leaks out of my hands when I try to pour it out. It lathers pretty well and feels nice and silky against the skin. The texture of the lotion is really great as well. Similarly, it’s not too runny so I don’t have issues with it sliding out of my hands. At the same time, it’s still light weight so it absorbs very fast! There’s no greasiness at all. Overall the feel and the texture of the products are amazing! However, I’m not a huge fan of either of the scents. There are two other ones to try though: Coconut Miracle Oil and Eucalyptus Mint.
The body washes retail for $8.49 and lotions for $10.99. You can find them at Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart, London Drugs, Loblaws.
BVSpa
Next we have BVSpa by Bon Vital. This brand aims to bring the luxury spa experience to your doorstep. Bon Vital is used by professional massage therapists and the brand recently released their at home products. The collection has three different scents: lavender & rosemary to relax, pomegranate & acai berry to rejuvenate, and pink grapefruit to energize. Each of the three scents will have 4 products: sugar scrub, salt scrub, body butter, and body lotion!
All of the products are free of parabens, sulfates and phthalates. They are also formulated with natural ingredients and essential oils!
I picked the lavender & rosemary scent as I thought it would be the most fall/winter appropriate. At first I wasn’t a fan of the scent as it was so earthy and medicinal. But now that I’ve used it a few times, I’ve really been enjoying it. It really helps me to relax and the scent adds to the luxury spa experience. When I’m using the products, it feels like I’m getting a massage!
The sugar scrub is meant for every day use or for those with more sensitive skin. However, I found it pretty coarse already. Especially on my hands if I’m not using a loofah to scrub. It is a nice scrub as I find my skin softer after use but I would only use it 1-2 times a week. It does not leave behind any oiliness although it contains safflower and jojoba oil.
The body lotion has a pump dispenser which makes it really convenient but the design is a bit awkward as there’s not enough room underneath the pump to catch the product. The lotion is very thin and light. It absorbs really fast into the skin but still gives that feeling where you can massage the skin without tugging but it’s not greasy. I really enjoyed using both products and also love the relaxing scent now!
Each item will retail for $11.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart but I’ve often seen them on sale! 😉
Mary Kay
I tried out Mary Kay products for the first time two months ago and was pleasantly surprised. For the holidays, they came out with the Be Delighted collection. The body wash and body mousse is sold together with a festive bag for $36 and the shimmering mist is $18 on its own.
I love the scent in this collection! It is very sweet and fruity and makes me want to almost taste it! The official scent notes are Fuji Apple, Raspberry Chiffon, and Tonka Beans. The packaging of the products is very cute too using a pink and blue color scheme with polka dots. Although I really love the scent, combined with the packaging it feels more like something for teenage girls (Victoria’s Secret, Ardenes, Bath & Body Works type of product)
Body Mousse: The product has a very unique texture and mousse is the best way to describe it. It feels a bit foamy and plushy and is a nice experience to rub into the skin. It absorbs quickly and the scent stays on the skin for a couple of hours!
Body Wash: The texture of the body wash was very thick. It is a white thick cream instead of the usual clear running gel. I actually had a lot of trouble squeezing the product out of the tube as it was so thick. Once I got it out, it did a decent job with foaming and not stripping the skin.
Shimmer Mist: I’ve never been a fan of shimmer mists but this could be good for the holiday season. I tried spraying it across my decollete and there’s definitely a good amount of shimmer! It’s not really something I would use but for those that want to add some glamour to holiday parties, this would be a good pick.
Overall, I really like the scent and packaging but it feels more summery and also very young. I feel like Mary Kay’s customers are usually more mature and sophisticated but maybe these products would reach new demographics? There’s some pros and cons to each of these products but definitely lots of new body products for winter to try. Best scent goes to Mary Kay, best texture goes to OGX, and the best relaxing experience goes to BVSpa!
