I try to control my makeup purchases since I usually have so many PR samples to test. But when I saw this Chloe Morello x Ciate holiday set, I knew I wanted it during the Sephora sale! I believe it’s now sold out on Sephora but you can still get your hands on it on Ciate’s website.
You may know Chloe Morello from Youtube and her signature look is halo eyes with matte lips. I feel like this set really allows you to achieve her style. It comes with a pouch, a lip stain, a mascara, and an eyeshadow palette with 15 shades. I’ve been using this set every day since I got it about 1.5 weeks ago so I’ll be showing some swatches and my first impressions.
The packaging in this set is absolutely gorgeous! The outside box print is similar to the print on the eyeshadow palette with abstract art in varying colors of purple. The color scheme really makes it a great holiday gift even though it’s not in the classic red and green colors.
Eyeshadow Palette
Let’s start off with the eyeshadow palette! There are 6 shimmery shades and 9 matte shades. All of them are so soft and buttery especially the matte shades! The shimmery shades swatch amazingly and give off a metallic look. However, when worn it does not quite translate as reflective. The mid tone matte shade are my favorites in this palette. They all work amazingly as a transition color and helps to blend my look so much more than what I normally achieve. The packaging totally helps the cute factor too! Let’s take a look at some swatches.
L to R: skinny dip, unconditional, on fire, queen bee, shine bright
I would use Skinny Dip and Unconditional as transition shades. On Fire is usually used if I want to deepen up the crease and Queen Bee has mostly been used as a liner. I would use Shine Bright all over the lid if I was looking for a golden look.
L to R: vaycay, my tribe, be sassy, jet setter, happy
Vaycay is very similar to shine bright and I’d just alternate it for a lighter more beige look. I’ve been using my tribe and be sassy in cases when I need to blend out the look without adding too much color. Β Jet setter is another good transition shade and actually when blended out it’s not that purple. Happy is a gorgeous taupe shade that looks nice all over the lid!
L to R: dainty, fierce, flirt, day dream, own it
This row has the most unique colors but I haven’t experimented with it yet. I’ve used dainty as an inner corner highlight. I’m SO excited to use fierce but haven’t tried it yet. Both flirt and day dream are good for deepening the crease with a hint of purple. Own it is actually a lot less deep when applied so it actually looks quite good all over the lid.
Although I bought the set for the eyeshadow, I’m beyond pleased with the mascara and the lipstain.
The wonderwand mascara has a bell shape very similar to Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara. It works so well to grab all my lashes and to lift and give them more dimension. I never liked the Too Faced mascara as I found it too dry and it would flake on me. This mascara is the perfect consistency and I had no trouble wearing it all day!
Liquid Velvet in Pin Up is the lip product contained. I actually rarely use matte lip products so I wasn’t very excited by this. But once I tried it on, I think this is my current favorite lip color!! It makes my entire look sophisticated when I use this. The formula is amazing and doesn’t dry out my lips.
Wearing liquid velvet in Pin Up, wonderwand mascara, Β and unconditional and happy on the eyes.
The pouch that comes with the kit is actually quite nice and something I would use. All three items fit nicely inside and would be perfect for travel.
The set retails for $49 USD and during the 20% off sale, I grabbed it for $39USD which I thought was an amazing deal. Right now, it is $44 on Ciate’s website, but if you sign up for their emails you get 10% off which makes it the same as the VIB sale! I would highly highly recommend this set as every item will be used!
