Pixi launched in Canada earlier this year and one of the products I was most intrigued to try was the Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm. There are six shades in total and I have 3 of them today for review! This line of lip products is suppose to give you tinted color in a nourishing lip balm texture.
We often talk about how pigmented products are as a synonym to quality but there is definitely a time and place for slightly tinted lip balms. My every day touch up at work is usually a lip balm or gloss as it’s easy to put on without mirrors and the color is not distracting to coworkers.
The packaging on these lip balms give off a vintage feel and I can imagine how cute these would be if you had all the shades and lined them up next to each other. The inside tube is the classic pixi green while the lids corresponds to the shade. The twist up feels pretty flimsy though and the lipstick often falls back down unless you twist all the way to the top.
Sweet Peach: A neutral beige with hints of peach and orange.
ย
Natural Rose: A berry shade that leans brown.
Ripe Raspberry: A bright fuschia that shows red on the lips.

Here are swatches of the three shades on my lips!
The formula is indeed very moisturizing and feels more like a lip balm than a lipstick. My lips are so dry in the winter so it’s nice this provides color but lots of nourishment. It feels pretty weightless on the lips and the color is more pigmented than expected. It also gives a bit of shine and hides flaky lips to an extent. The only thing I dislike is that there is a bit of that waxy lipstick taste and smell which lingers even after wearing it for a while.
Overall I love the formula and it’s so perfect for this time of the year! However, they can improve on making the twist up more sturdy and also making it either unscented or less waxy. Natural Rose is my favorite shade as it is just slightly darker than my own lip shade but adds shine and moisture. They are really affordable and I definitely recommend picking one up to throw into your purse.
