New Year New Brand: Being by Sanctuary Spa

February 15, 2018

being by sanctuary spa review
Last month, I started a series called New Year New Brand, featuring Beauty Counter! This month I’m introducing Being by Sanctuary Spa (official website). They’ve actually been available at Shoppers Drug Mart ($10-$20 range) since November last year but this is the first time they are making an appearance on my blog.
Right off the bat, the packaging really caught my eyes. I love the graphic designs of the faces with ingredients as the eyes. The whole brand is about being bold and being yourself. The second thing that really caught my eye was the flavour combinations. They sound so exotic and delicious! There are 4 scent collections and a range of bath/body products under each scent!

Hibiscus & Coconut Water

The Hibiscus & Coconut Water Body Scrub $16 is a super fun product in a jelly consistency. When you open up the lid, you get a strong whiff of floral and fruit. It’s hard to identify exactly what it smells like as it’s not rose or jasmine or a standard flower. Obviously the coconut water wouldn’t add to the smell but if you close your eyes, you definitely feel the tropical vibes. The consistency is pretty watery and more similar to a shower gel, not that I don’t like it.

For the scrub, there are both clear particles and larger black chunks which I believe are coconut shell powder. The scrubs aren’t too grainy at all and I usually just use my hands to scrub. It washes away easily and doesn’t leave an oily film. I love using this when I feel like my dry skin is building up!

Salted Caramel & Macadamia

Body butters are a life savor in the winter time! The texture of Salted Caramel and Macadamia Body Butter $20 feels lighter than most body butters and spreads really easily. You know how sometimes if you take a pea size product but it doesn’t go anywhere. This one will spread quite far. It absorbs really easily and doesn’t feel greasy at all!

I’m really impressed by the ingredients of this product. The first three ingredients are water, corn oil and shea butter! Although there’s still chemicals in the product, there are quite a bit of essential oils like macadamia seed oil, sweet almond oil, grape seed oil, and cocoa butter!

In the same scent, I have the Salted Caramel & Macadamia Bubble Bath $15. But I actually haven’t tried it yet as I prefer showers and baths at home just take too much time. It smells delicious but I can’t say how well it bubbles.

Chili Mango & Tonka Bean

I haven’t used body mists in a long time but the Chili Mango & Tonka Beans Body Mist $9 would be nice to spray through the hair to add a light refresher of smell. The mist is really fine and is able to spray evenly! It makes the skin slightly sticky though if you spray directly at yourself, so I would spray onto clothes or into the air and walk in. It’s hard to describe the scent but definitely a lot of tropical fruit and a bit of creaminess.

The Chili Mango & Tonka Beans Hand Cream $9 is the same scent as the body mist and would be great layer with each other. The hand cream squeezes out in a pretty thick consistency but it almost melts like water when rubbed into hands. Like the other products, there’s no greasiness at all and I really enjoy this!

Cloudberry & Lychee Blossom

For ultimate fun the shower, the Cloudberry & Lychee Blossom Shower Burst $16 is a really unique product. When you pump it out, it’s in gel form, but it will turn into white foam in your hands! Once it’s foam, it’s similar texture to a shave gel and feels really dense so it feels luxurious on the skin. When the team was showing us this product, they drew hearts and smiley faces so you can definitely have fun in the shower with this.

Lastly we have the Cloudberry & Lychee Blossom Body Lotion $16 in a pump bottle. I love the packaging as pumps are so much more sanitary. The consistency is thinner than the body butter and really spread very easily. I found this to be slightly sticky for the first minute or so before it dried down. Normally I like thinner consistency but I think between this and the body butter, I preferred the slightly thicker consistency of the body butter.

I have to say I liked ALL of the scents from Being by Sanctuary Spa! If I had to choose, my top picks in terms of products would be the Shower Burst, Body Butter and Hand Cream!

Being by Sanctuary Spa products are available at Shoppers Drug Mart and online in their Beauty Boutique
