I know it’s been a few months already since Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara debuted. But I finally finished my previous round of mascaras and cracked open this tube! Urban Decay is well known for their provocative marketing and this mascara is no exception! Let’s see how well it performs and whether it ends up being a holy grail mascara!

PACKAGING
The Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara comes in a rainbow of colors in a tube that was surprisingly difficult to photograph! The colors have a foil like finish inside a plastic clear case. The wand has sparsely separated short spikes with a slight hourglass shape. The spikes are criss crossed so that helps with picking up all the lashes. I like to save my makeup boxes at least for as long as I’m using the product, and the paper box also comes in a kaleidoscope of yellow, pink, and purple!
FORMULA
The formula of the Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara is on the wet side. I like that the color comes off super black and helps to give an intense look. One thing I noticed with the bristles was that it didn’t touch my eyelid as so many of my other mascaras do. But the bristles are rubber and stiff so it does poke my eye slightly if I’m not careful. It’s really easy to brush the formula over every lash and I love that it volumizes and separates my lashes. But I don’t get the length that I get from some of my other holy grail mascaras. The other biggest issue for me is that it flakes! I’ll show you in the demo below!
DEMO
Here is a photo of before and after applying the Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara. My lashes are pretty much invisible in the before photo but you can see lots of strands and nice intense black color in the after photo. If you look closely, I already had some black flakes below my eyes, and you can also see some flakes on the lashes itself! This actually tends to happen when you first apply it!
However, it does wear really well. My test was that I went for a massage and my face was pressed to the face rest for about an hour. I was testing another mascara at the same time and the other eye smudged but this one using the Urban decay Troublemaker Mascara didn’t! However, I think I was expecting a bit more especially since there are so many great mascaras out there these days. I think it did a decent job but there wasn’t anything extraordinary!
