I rarely talk about hair care on my blog mostly because I’m not an expert with hair styles. But I do have a few favorite hair care products I use to have a chance at better hair days. I have long straight hair and I rarely stress it out with coloring or heat tools. However, I struggle with volume, the amount of time it takes for my hair to dry, and keeping a curl in place! Today I’ll be sharing with my a few of my favorite hair care products that I use on a regular basis!
Living Proof Prime Hair Extender
I discovered this product after buying it as part of a Black Friday set as I needed a new hairspray. The Living Proof Prime Style Extender claims to extend the life of hairstyles up to two times longer, repels dirt and oil and creates an optimal base for all styles.ย ย I’m very lazy about washing my hair and I want it to stay clean for as long as possible. The Living Proof Prime Style Extender really helps to fend off oil and dirt and I find I can have clean hair for 3 days when I use it! I’m not sure about the other claims but I’m very happy with the results. I’ve used up two travel sizes of this product now!
I like to use about 2 quarter drops when my hair is damp and smooth it through. There is a beautiful refreshing tea scent in the product that makes me smell good for at least a few hours! Another way I like to use this is if I washed my hair with shampoo but no conditioner. I would do this only once in a while if I feel like I have a lot of build up. Then this product will help smooth through my tangled hair! Retails $26 CAD for full size at Sephora.
Living Proof Flex Shaping Hair Spray
The other product in that Black Friday setย ($13) was this hair spray. My hair is really stiff so when I curl my hair, it often falls flat within a few hours. I found that hair spraying right after I do each curl really helps the longevity. I’ve been using this hair spray a lot recently. It has a beautiful light vanilla scent. It is different from the Prime Extender but the scent compliments each other still. The other thing I really like is how fine and even the mist is. As you can see in the photo below, the spray nozzle won’t squirt any product and therefore you get even distribution.
My hair never feels crunchy at all when I use this! You really can’t feel that the product is there at all. It also helps me hold the curls all night! Now that I’m using a better curling iron, The Dry Bar 3 Day Bender, my curls will last 2 full days! With these two products, I became a huge fan of Living Proof so I’m excited to try out more of their products. Retails $34 CAD for full size at Sephora.
got2b Mind Blowing Xpress Dry Styling Spray
One of the reasons why I hate washing my hair is how long it takes it to dry. If I’m air drying, it takes about 2 hours for it to fully dry. I’ve never done a comparison to see if this spray actually helps my hair to dry faster during my blow outย but it feels like it does. Also even if I spray this and let it air dry, I feel like my hair looks a bit more tamed and dries more straight than normal. Even if it doesn’t, I like that it provides heat protection and also detangles my hair!
I had issues with the nozzle for the longest time but suddenly it started working well again. It has a sweet artificial smell that’s neither pleasant nor unpleasant. It just reminds me of hair products. Overall though I think it does the job and you can usually find this at the drugstore for about $5.
AG Hair Texture Gloss
Using texture to play up hair styles is a new thing I learned. Sometimes when I curl my hair, the curls come out too “neat” looking and it turns into one large curl. To make it have more of a beachy vibe I like to use the AG Texture Gloss to give it more definition and make it look more “piece-y”. It is a very sticky formula and a cross between gel and cream. It is totally transparent so it won’t leave any white residue in your hair. I usually like to warm it up in my finger tips and randomly pull at the ends of my hair. I find it gives a really nice boho vibe after I curl my hair!
I’m currently looking for a great volumizing product so if you have any recommendations please let me know! If you’ve tried any of these products, did you also enjoy them?
