I have been doing beauty reviews and testing products for a good four years now! While I’ve gotten pretty good at my own makeup, the one area I still struggle with is brows! I recently tested out 3 different brow products so I’ll be sharing them in the next few weeks. The first one up is THEFACESHOP Designing Eyebrow Pencil.
Basics
Name: THEFACESHOP Designing Eyebrow Pencil
Shade: 05 Dark Brown, 6 shades in total
Price: $6
Size: 0.3g
Available at THEFACESHOP online or in their stores
A few months ago, THEFACESHOP reopened at Richmond Center and I was invited to attend. At the event, we were allowed to pick up a few items and I chose this one as I knew I wanted to work on my brow skills.
The original version of this pencil actually had a triangular tip. But they changed it to a square flat tip to ensure less irritation and for a more natural looking eyebrow. I also didn’t know this until I researched the product, but it’s designed to achieve a straight-line eyebrow. As you may or may not know, Asian makeup really focuses on a straight eyebrow. This eyebrow pencil is meant so that you can achieve that with straight strokes.
On one side of THEFACESHOP Designing Eyebrow Pencil, you have the twist up product. On the other side, it comes with a spoolie and a lid. Although there is only 0.3g of product, the pencil is actually quite a long and will last you a while. The eyebrow pencil has a slight waxy feel so it leaves a very natural brown color when you brush through your skin. You can also press down for a deeper brown but it will create harsh lines.
I like that the large tip allows me to draw more rough lines and also fill in more space at the same time. It takes way less time to fill in my brows as it covers such a large surface area. I don’t personally do straight brows but I will show you a demo of a natural arch brow if you scroll down.
Swatch
The top swatch is if you press the THEFACESHOP Designing Eyebrown Pencil firmly against the skin. I wanted to show the true color of the pigment. However, the bottom swatch is more like the pressure I would use if I’m filling in my brows. As you can see it gives off a natural look kind of similar as to if you used a powder product. The color is also a few shades lighter.
Demo
I took a before and after photo focused on my brow. As you can see in the before photo, I have quite full brows but it’s a bit shapeless and fuzzy around the edges. I went for a natural arch and quite like the final look. I especially like that filling in the top corner right before the brows come down gives a more defined look. The color is a bit light for my black hair but if you have slightly lighter shade of brown then 05 Dark Brown would be a nice match.
I think because I have naturally full bushy brows, I’ve never paid too much attention to brow makeup. But now I realized a little tidying up really makes a big difference in creating a more defined look. I’m a big fan of this pencil and at only $6, it performs way beyond its price tag. The shades they have are geared towards Asians but it’s perfect for finding a good match especially if you’ve dyed your hair. It is a pretty underrated product but I will be using this every day for a natural looking brow.
