I have been dying to try Drunk Elephant skincare since I saw them in Sephora last year! The cute packaging and name immediately caught my eyes and the products are backed with some awesome reviews. There’s no shortage of skincare options these days and I try quite a few products throughout the year. After testing these out for about a month, there is one product from Drunk Elephant that I am obsessed with! To find out the secret product that will change your skin, read on to find out more!
Why is Drunk Elephant So Popular?
There is definitely a trend towards green beauty but people are also looking for effectiveness in skincare. I think being able to tick off both of those boxes is what makes Drunk Elephant so popular. Their products aren’t necessarily natural yet they use only “clean” ingredients. Both natural and synthetic ingredients are used however the ingredient must directly benefit the skin or support the effectiveness of the formulation. Since some of these more “potent acids” can cause sensitivity in the skin, Drunk Elephant also puts a lot of research into making sure the pH is at a level where it won’t irritate skin. This way, your skin can better tolerate the ingredients!
C-Firma Day Serum
Firm & Brighten 15% L-Ascorbic Acid
$100 for 30mL- Buy at Sephora
Most of us are familiar with Vitamin C being beneficial for our skin. This serum is meant to be used in the mornings and aims to firm and brighten the appearance of skin. The main ingredients are 15% l-ascorbic, ferulic acid and Vitamin E. If you live in a big city, you’ll be happy to know that the ingredients also protect your skin from pollution and other environmental stressors. The Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum is extremely liquidy almost like water. There’s a super light fruit scent to it that enhances the application experience. The skin does take a few minutes to fully absorb and in the meantime it was a little sticky. I actually don’t do a full morning skincare routine so I tested this at night. I didn’t see any visible results in firming and brightening but those are not really my main skin issues.
T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum
Refine & Retexturize 12% AHA + 2% BHA
$112 for 30mL – Buy at Sephora
This is the product all of you need to add to your skincare routine if you want smooth skin! The Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum is a best seller for the brand and wow did it live up to expectations! Not only does this serum aim to refine and resurface the skin, it also enhances the performance of other products by clearing the way for maximum absorption. How this product works is that the chemical exfoliation removes dead skin cells by dissolving the glue that holds them to the surface. This serum is more of a gel consistency and has no scent or color. I felt tingling on my skin the first few times I used it but I never had any sensitivity issues after. The results when I wake up are amazing! My skin feels so soft and supple and this will become a staple in my skincare routine. Since I felt the ingredients were pretty intense, I like to pair it with a more gentle moisturizer like the Marula Oil or the La Roche Posay Toleriane lotion.
Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil
Nourish & Balance
$50 for 50mL – Buy at Sephora
I have tried quite a few facial oils since the craze came onto the market. Most of the time, I did not like them as I found it too greasy on my hands. The Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil is extracted from the marula fruit and is almost untouched by anything else after. While I still find it a bit greasy, I think this is the perfect complement to the T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. There are lots of hard working ingredients in the serum so I wanted a moisturizer that is gentle and won’t affect the effectiveness. I can actually cover my face with just one drop of this oil but sometimes I like to use 2 drops for extra moisturization.
T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial
Resurface & Reveal
25% AHA + 2% BHA
To be honest, this is the product I tested out the least as I know it’s not available in the Canadian Market. The ingredients in this one is similar to the T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum but kicked up a notch! This is perfect to use when you feel your skin just needs a bit more exfoliation. The product aims to reveal greater clarity, improved skin texture and tone, and a more youtful looking radiance. I definitely felt more tingling using this than the night serum. The product has a cream texture and a light beige color. It doesn’t dry on the skin so it was relatively easy to rinse off compared to other facial masks. It gave a similar result to the Night Serum but since this one has higher acid content, I prefer to continue using the night serum! Also this one is a lot more work as you have to leave it on for 20 minutes and rinse off.
The Acid Trip Set focuses on showcasing how different acids can change your skincare routine. The Marula Facial Oil is a very gentle way to moisturize in combination with any of the other products. In Canada, the Acid Trip Kit is sold without the Sukari Babyfacial. The set retails for $100 and is a good way to try out several of their products. The brand is definitely on the pricey side but the formulation is fantastic and the results are noticeable! I absolutely love the T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum, it makes such a big difference in my skin! If there’s one product to try from the brand, definitely give that a try!
I also tried the Drunk Elephant Inspector Drunk Night Kit which introduced me to four more items!
