I tend to let lip products pile up as they are so pretty and I feel like I’m going to use them. On average, I can finish 6 products a year, but I still have way too many products! I recently decluttered my red lipsticks collection cutting it from 20 to 7 and I’m going to do a makeup declutter on my nude lip products collection!
What I Kept – Liquid Lipsticks
Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in Kristen – I love my ABH eyeshadow palette and wanted to give this more of a chance. The color is a beautiful deep nude and the product has a light sweet scent.
Quo Lip Velour in Diva – What I really liked about this liquid lipstick is that the brush is easy to control. It’s not a foam applicator but rather a brush with many bristles like a paint brush. It also tapers so that it can distribute color to the edges.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lip in Eclair – Bite Beauty is known for their lip products but surprisingly I’ve decluttered quite a few of their products. Their Amuse Bouche Liquified Lip products are insanely pigmented but this color is quite wearable. I also like the light lemon-y scent. Once swatched I realized it’s actually more pink than nude but decided to keep it anyways!
What I Kept – Traditional Lipsticks
Estee Edit The Barest Lip Color in 03 Exposed – I’m so sad that Estee Edit is discontinued after a short stint at Sephora. This lipstick is very wearable as it’s light pigmentation with a glossy finish.
Kat Von D Studded Kiss Creme Lipstick in OG Lolita– I received this through Influenster and I’m so glad this shade is flattering on me. It’s really pigmented and stick to the lips great so I would use this for a longer lasting event.
Mary Kay Lipstick in Rich Truffle – I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of Mary Kay products and especially their lipstick range. I kept this because of the unique brown nude shade and is easy to apply.
Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick in Very Victoria- This was my first lipstick from the brand and I love the luxurious feel. It is one of the lightest nude colors I have and good to pair with a heavier eye look.
What I Kept – Lipglosses
Kiehl’s Butterstick – I like that this has lip care effects and can double as a lip balm. It’s a very new product to me and since it’s a nice neutral shade and good for an every day use when I don’t want too much pigment, I decided to keep it.
essence XXXL Nude Lipgloss in 03 Taste the Sweets– Essence is a brand from Europe that landed in Canada a few years ago. Their products are super affordable and this is a nice simple wash of color with a beautiful shine. I reviewed a ton of their lip products!
Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Sedona Sands – Who remembers the lip crayon craze? I still love them as it usually gives off good pigment but easier to apply than lipsticks. This is my only nude lip crayon and I like the shade.
What I Decluttered – Liquid Lipsticks
Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint in Birthday Suit – The color was too light for me and I liked the 3 liquid lipsticks I kept better. The formula on this dries and emphasizes my lip lines.
Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick in Baci – This is a good option for a long lasting color. But it takes some concentration to apply and I like some of the other shades from the holiday gift sets. I didn’t swatch this as it’s still brand new and I wanted to give it to a friend. You can check my post to see swatches and demo.
Hard Candy Velvet Mousse – The formula is actually quite nice and dries down without any stickiness or weight. But the color is too orange and light and not flattering on me.
Pixi Matte Last Liquid Lip in Pastel Petal and Matte Beige – The shades in these were okay but it dries down in my lip lines. However, the biggest issue was that the applicator was really flimsy so I had no control.
What I Decluttered – Traditional Lipsticks
Laneige Two Toned Lipstick in Cashmere Nude – Again, I like the formula of the lipsticks but the shade was just too light and washes me out.
Pixi Mattelustre Lipstick in Rose Naturelle – This lipstick is a beautiful MLBB shade and has a slight sheen. However, it smells terrible now and I think it’s gone bad. Which is surprising cause I’ve only had it for a year?
Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Natural rose – This is a nice wearing lip stick with a surprising amount of pigment for something labeled as a lip balm. But the twist up is very loose and it has a fragranced scent that I didn’t like. Since I kept a few lipsticks I really love already, I’m gonna be cut throat and get rid of this.
Gigi x Maybelline Lipstick in Mccall – I loved the lipsticks from the Gigi Hadid collaboration. But this shade is just too pale and not that flattering.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Honeycomb – I also received Bite Beauty product through Influenster. I actually quite like it but I know I’ll never reach for it and I’ve kept enough nude lipsticks to last me a few years.
What I Decluttered- Lipgloss
Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker – I kept on wanting to give these another chance but every time I used it, the plumping would just be too painful that I have to wipe the product off.
Fresh Sugar Nude – I’ve gone through countless fresh lip balms so I figured I’d use this up if I keep it around. However the shade is a really pale nude with a weird golden shimmer so I just need to accept that I’m not going to use it.
Too Faced Lip Injection in Spice Girl – Similarly, the plumping ingredients were just too much on my lips that it was painful!
Marc Jacobs Lip Gloss – I love the shine from their lip glosses but this shade was just way too pale.
Final Results
Kept – 10
Declutter – 13
The left side is items I kept (although I forgot the 3 liquid lipsticks), and the right is everything I’m decluttering.
I’m really happy with how this makeup declutter went by clearing out over half of my products! Funnily, 2 out of 5 products from a Sephora Favorites Gimme Some Nude Lips kit ended up in the declutter list. Just goes to show how easy it is to pick up items you won’t actually use! I also tried really hard to not keep many liquid lipsticks as those are the formulas I use the least! Hopefully I’ll get some good use out of the ones I kept!
Let me know what your favorite lip product formulas are! And what’s your holy grail nude lip product?
