When I think of Clinique skincare, I think of that green packaging with 1, 2, 3, 4 to identify your skin type. But, it’s been a while since I visited the brand and the new Clinique Pep-Start line looks modern and innovative! There are 8 items in total in the collection and today I will be sharing my thoughts on the Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream and the Clinique Pep-Start Pout Restoring Night Mask.
Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream
I have to say that I don’t use eye cream regularly in my skincare routine. However, I do notice that when I apply my facial moisturizer/serums, I skip the skin about 2 cms away from the eyes. So even though I don’t have specific eye area problems, I realized my eye area doesn’t get moisture!ย The Clinqiue Pep-Start Eye Cream has no anti-aging claims but aims to help hydrate and deliver brightening effects to your eyes. For someone in her 20s, this is the right type of product to look into.
The product is at a great introductory price of $33 and contains 15mL of product.
The Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream comes with a round ball applicator. To use, pull up the ball tip and squeeze out a bit of product. You can then use your fingers to massage in the cream or use the round ball tip. Since it’s plastic, it doesn’t have the super cooling effect as some metal applicators do. However, it’s still cooler than your finger if you are looking for that refreshing sensation. I personally like using my fingers though as I find it easier to control pressure and getting into all the corners.
The eye cream is very light and blends easily into the skin. Often you associate eye cream with a thicker and heavier consistency. But this one is light and there is no stickiness at all. The cream is white and doesn’t contain any fragrance either. The cream definitely hydrates the eye area well as I tend to miss the skin around my eyes when I’m only applying facial moisturizer. I don’t think there’s any brightening effect though but it is refreshing.
I like to even use this in the mornings some time to wake up my tired eyes. However, I haven’t been able to incorporate an eye cream into my every day routine as it’s an extra step. If you are the same as me, make sure to bring your moisturizer (if it’s a gentle one like the La Roche Posay Toleriane line) closer to your eye area so the skin gets hydrated as well. If you are looking to add an eye cream into your skincare routine though, this is a fantastic no fuss cream that contains some fantastic ingredients like Shea Butter, Squaline, Algae Extract, and Caffeine.
Clinqiue Pep-Start Pout Restoring Mask
Another item I’ve seen that’s been quite popular recently are overnight lip masks! I first tried the Laneige Lip Sleeping mask which is super popular. While I love the scent, the tub format is not very convenient. The Clinique Pep-Start Pout Restoring Night Mask is in an adorable light pink squeezy tube. The packaging is so nostalgic of my high school years! Clinique packaging is normally very clean and minimalistic. The light pink on this lip mask makes it super cute and vanity worthy!
The formula of this is very thick! If you can see in the photo below, the product stays up vertically and doesn’t get sucked down by gravity. I would describe the texture as very close to Vaseline. There’s also no scent to product as most Clinique products have no fragrance added. I am very impressed by how quick the formula sinks into the lips. By the time you are done with your night time routine, this will have likely completely settled into your skin with no extra product that can be smeared away.
The other thing I’m very impressed with is the actual results! I used this about 3 nights in a row when my lips were super dry and it really plumped up the skin and left it flake free! In the photo below, you can see there’s one piece of loose skin but the rest of the lip looks healthy and hydrated! You don’t have to use this as a night mask as it feels soaked in within 5 mins. You can put this on at the beginning of your makeup routine. When you get to your lips, you’ll have a great canvas to work with! The squeezy tube makes the application mess free and really convenient to use!
Let me know if you use eye creams or lip night masks regularly!
