The newest Biotherm Aquasource collection uses the benefits of Life Plankton and Aura Leaf. These products aim to penetrate deep into the skin to revive skin’s glow. I have really dry skin so any products promising hydration intrigues me. I have used both items for about a month in August and will share you my results today!
Biotherm Aquasource Aura Concentrate
The Biotherm Aquasource Aura Concentrate is a very uniquely textured serum that aims to provide 48 hours of hydration. The website describes this product as best for those with dry or extremely dry skin. However, the box of the product says for those with normal to combination skin. I have very dry skin and am always looking for more hydration so I was excited to give this a try.
You can see a clear distinction between the oil based and water based portions of the product. Before you use it, make sure to shake well to activate the moisture micro droplets. It’s always amusing to me to see the transformation. You can visibly see the droplets and I love how it looks against the green ombre glass.
To apply, squeeze the top of the dropper and use 3-4 drops. I love having the dropper as it feels much more sanitary. If you are used to serums you might be suprrised to find how liquidy the texture is. It is almost as runny as water. It absorbs instantly and leaves my skin feeling smooth. I always follow it up with the gel right away but if you don’t, you will notice a bit of oiliness on your fingers.
One of the how to use instructions says it can be used as a highlighter throughout the day. However, I don’t think there is any shine once it dries down so I’m not sure if that use is functional. You can mix it with the gel but I always used this serum first and then applied the gel after.
Biotherm Aquasource Gel
Biotherm already has a huge line up of Aquasource moisturizers, all with the iconic cooling gel texture. This version uses the Aura Leaf which is the newest ingredient found by Biotherm that has hydrating and illuminating properties. This glass jar has a really nice weight to it and is in a matching ombre green color. On the back of the tub, it says the cream is for Normal to Combination Skin.
I love the texture of this gel. It is very lightweight but has something in it that gives a spa feel when you are applying the product. The gel feels slippery so it glides over the skin and has a wonderful massage feel when you are rubbing it into the skin. It dries down very fast so its appropriate for use night or day. I do find my fingers feel a bit oily but my face feels wonderful.
I used both of these products together for about a month. Usually in the summer time, my skin doesn’t flake too much and does not require too much hydration. When using this system, my skin felt hydrated but not plump. When I use a heavier cream, I wake up feeling lots of bounce in my skin and I did not achieve that with this collection. I absolutely adore the smell of both the product and the luxury feel, but I don’t think it’s meant for dry skin. Additionally I found I had some small bumps on my skin throughout. I’ve since cleared it with my Drunk Elephant Night Serum and Philosophy Renewed Hopeย cream.
These two new Biotherm Aquasource products have wonderful reviews online but it didn’t quite work for me. I think if you had normal to combination skin and wanted a hydrating skincare system, this is a good choice. But for those with dry skin that flake in the winter time, this wasn’t hydrating enough in my view.
