Kiehl’s Ginger Leaf & Hibiscus Firming Mask

September 2, 2018

I’m a big fan of Kiehl’s skin care and I broke down the best sellers in a post last year! This summer, the Kiehl’s Ginger Leaf & Hibiscus Firming Mask was released! It is branded as an overnight mask but you can also use it as a night time moisturizer which is what I’ve been doing.

The mask comes in a plastic jar with the classic Kiehl’s packaging. Usually, each collection will have corresponding colors. For example, the Calendula collection is a mustard yellow (pictured in the background). As this mask is the first product in a possible collection, it comes in a brand new fuschia color with a lime green accent. Inside the jar is the product with a light hint of pink.

The product aims to instantly firm the skin using the extract of hibiscus. The overnight mask comes from the idea that the hibiscus flower closes during the nighttime to preserve its nectar. The other anti-aging claims include smoothing, hydration, and smooth fine lines.

The texture of this product is extremely thick. It reminds me of a body butter more so than a facial moisturizer. Surprisingly, it’s not greasy at all and actually feels refreshing! It does take a little while to fully sink in the skin though and is slightly sticky in the meantime. The smell of this product at first threw me off and I didn’t immediately love it. It is earthy and vegetable but smells very fresh. Now that I’ve been using this product more, I have come to like the scent. It smells like an eco-friendly spa!

How to Use

You can use this product after serum or right after cleaning your face. In the morning, you should rinse it off with water. But often by morning time, I don’t find I have any product left on my face. Due to the thick texture, I definitely feel an immediate tightening and firming effect on my face. It actually also feels cooling upon application. I haven’t noticed any dramatic changes in how my skin looks and feels in terms of firming in the long term. I also find that I get small bumps (not pimples) around my face when I use this product.

I find that this provides me with immediate hydration and firming effects. But I don’t feel any long term benefits unfortunately. The Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream is one of my favorites from the brand as it’s so gentle and yet makes my skin feel smooth and supple. If you are looking for a firming effect, another good one I recently tried is this Works No Wrinkles Extreme Moisturizer.

Hellllooo fall! 🍂🍁 In just a few weeks, the Hellllooo fall! 🍂🍁

In just a few weeks, the leaves are going to be golden red at Trout Lake!! 🤩😍. What are your favorite fall foliage spots in Vancouver?
Editing this post made MY MOUTH WATER!! 🤤🤤 Editing this post made MY MOUTH WATER!! 🤤🤤

Here are the best things I ate in Japan - restaraunt edition! (do you want to see one for snacks? or do you want to see a worst things I ate in Japan?)
Prices of the specific dish listed below.

1. Kanoko, try their special green tea infused soba or normal soba. I loved the dashi and tempura. Perfect lunch option for after visiting the tori gates. 1,300 Yen 🍜

2. Okonomiyaki Sakaba, you can pick the inside filling and a lot of the options were meat based. The sauce on top is delicious and you may be surprised the inside is mostly cabbage and not flour. 1,000 Yen🍥

3. Udon Bo Osaka, I tried out a cold dipping udon and it was excellent! They have a special yuzu sauce and the tempura is amazing too. 1,250 Yen 🍤

4. Roast Beef Ohno, the most affordable way to eat wagyu! Loved the sauces and nice side veggie dishes too. 1,750 Yen 🥓

5. Fuunji, flavorful dipping ramen with a vending machine to order! 1,400 (with egg + bamboo add on)🍱

6. Maguro Koya, holy crap I'm addicted to Ootoro now. So glad we splurged and got the double portion. We also tried the chutoro sashimi to compare cuts. 3,200 Yen 🍣

Hope this provides some delicious inspo for the best food in Japan!
Here's what I found from Ragtag in Japan!! 🤩🤩
I've definitely had my eye on a Dior piece and it's extra special that this design is a Japan exclusive.
I have to say, second hand designer shopping is a lot harder than I remembered! There are SO many stores now, I probably visited 20+ and the prices are not so cheap anymore 🤧🤧
.
A similar card holder from Dior is probably $600 CAD + tax. I got this one for ~$350 CAD. It's in excellent condition but there was no dust bag nor box.
