Fenty Beauty Flyliner Eyeliner Review

October 14, 2018

I started using a liquid eyeliner about 2 years ago and it remains one of my daily staples. The Fenty Beauty Flyliner is a highly rated liquid eyeliner and today I’ll be sharing my review. Did you know it’s been one year since Fenty Beauty launched? The most important thing to me is a thin tip that allows me to draw close to my lash line. Also, it’s important that it holds up all day with no smudging.

BASICS

Name: Fenty Beauty Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner
Shades: 1 Shade, Cuz I’m Black (true satin black)
Price: $25
Size: .55 mL
Available at Sephora and Fenty Beauty

Packaging

The packaging of the Fenty Beauty Flyliner reminds me of a high end fountain pen. It has a light rose gold outside but reflects silver depending on the light. Although it looks round in photos, it’s actually in a triangular shape. I like this because you can hold onto it like a pencil. This provides more support and points of contact with your hand increase stability.

One end of the eyeliner looks like a click button but actually it doesn’t move at all. You can saturate the tip more by shaking it and storing it with the tip down. But so far, I’ve found no issues with pigment flowing through the felt tip.

The felt tip is done really well and that’s what makes this eyeliner so great! It has a very narrow pointy end that’s capable of drawing skinny lines. The felt tip is flexible enough to curve how you want it but also has enough resistance to not flop around!

Formula

There is only one shade for this eyeliner but it’s the perfect black shade for all skintones. It is extremely pigmented but if you use a light touch the result can look very natural. The most impressive thing about this eyeliner though is it’s wear time! Even after my eyeshadow and mascara have faded away, I can always count on the Fenty Beuaty Flyliner to stay put all day! I have not tested it through water-proof conditions but I can easily wear this for 10-12 hours. Also, unlike some other long wearing products, this eyeliner actually comes off easily with micellar water.

Swatches & Demo

So here’s how the eyeliner looked right after application. As you can see, I can draw a very thin line across my lashes. I didn’t realized that my wing looked so messy until I took the shot. In person, I thought it looked decently sharp, whoops. I also realized I should have worn a lighter eyeshadow color to let the eyeliner pop more. But hopefully you can get a good feel for the type of black. It doesn’t have a glossy finish but it does have a bit of a satin reflection to it.

Here is how it wore after 5 hours. Clearly my eyeshadow was a disaster that day and fell apart. But for the most part, the eyeliner still looks very fresh. I think the inner corner looks a little smudged but in person, the eyeliner was still looking perfect.

RATINGS

Color: 10/10
Packaging: 10/10
Longevity: 10/10
Precision: 10/10
Value: 9/10

Total: 49/50 A+

Overall, I’m a very big fan of this! The only downside is that there is only .55mL of product so I’m interested to see how long this will last me. If you are looking to invest in a good liquid liner that will stay on all day, definitely give this a try. You can read my other eyeliner reviews to see what I’ve liked and what I didn’t!
