My Most Popular Posts in 2018

December 27, 2018

2018 marked a huge change for Raincouver Beauty as I finally transitioned from Blogspot to WordPress. I wanted to share my most popular posts in 2018 to look back at my achievements this year. I have been putting out two posts a week for the entire year sharing honest reviews, coveted round ups and also increasingly more travel content! Since I transitioned during the year, this list will be based on page views from Google Analytics from March until December!

#10 La Roche Posay Toleriane

My 10th most popular post was my review of the new La Roche Posay Toleriane collection. I have always seen La Roche Posay products around and have used their sun products before. But this was my first time using their skincare. At first, the post was not very popular but towards the end of the year there have been a lot of searches. The face cream was very gentle but hydrating enough for my dry skin. The collection is suited for those with sensitive skin that needs nourishment and ingredients that do not aggravate the skin.

#9 Revlon Colorstay 2 in 1 Review

Coming in at #9 is a review of the Revlon Colorstay 2 in 1 foundation. This is a review I wrote two years ago and has remained popular every year since! This foundation comes with a pre matched concealer in the same compact. From what I remember, it gives a very full coverage especially when applied with the included sponge. I like how travel friendly it is but Revlon tends to have pretty high price tags at the drugstore. Some other Revlon Colorstay products I recently tried are the Brow Mousse and Exactify Liquid Liner.

#8 Stila Perfect Me Perfect Hue

This is another post I wrote in 2016 and has ranked as one of my top viewed posts each year! The Stila Perfect Me Perfect Hue palette is one of my favorite full face palette. I actually never hear people talk about this palette so I’m surprised it’s always been a popular post on my blog. I find it a perfect travel palette if you like basic makeup. The four basic eyeshadow shades cover the full spectrum from light to dark. I actually don’t like the light pink blush shade but the darker plum is extremely flattering.

#7 Aritzia Warehouse Sale Haul 2017

I love going to the Aritzia Warehouse Sale each year! I know it’s a bit of a zoo in there but if you are well prepared, you’ll find some true gems! My haul from 2017 was widely viewed this year just prior to the 2018 sale. It always happens the weekend of Labour Day at Vancouver Convention Center. So don’t make any travel plans if you’re a true bargain hunter!

#6 Too Faced White Peach Palette

Too Faced is one of my all time favorite brands! This palette is actually not one of top picks from the brand but I am very proud of the post. I did several eye looks to show how the palette can be used. And I also showed some tips for eyeshadow application for Asian eyes. The Too Faced White Peach palette is better suited for someone with a lighter skintone. However, I would recommend the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette as it’s more versatile.

#5 Maybelline x Gigi Hadid Collection

In late 2017, I got to preview quite a few items from the Maybelline x Gigi Hadid collection. I actually thought lots of the items had great formulation and would sell out very quickly. But unfortunately the collection faced a lot of criticism mostly the higher price for similar products in normal Maybelline collections. My favorite items were the lipsticks as the pigmentation and formula were spot on!

#4 Shu Uemura Lightbulb Foundation

I tried a lot of new foundations this year including the Shu Uemura Lightbulb. It’s not a very highly talked about foundation but the page views really picked up towards the end of the year! The formulation is watery but contains a lot of oils. It’s suppose to give a very luminous glow. However, it clung to dry patches on my skin. I gave it to my mom and she really enjoys it and I think the formula is great for mature skin.

#3 Sanctuary at Grand Memories Cuba

I went on a vacation in Cuba two years ago and wrote an in-depth review of my stay at the Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero. I can’t believe it’s been so popular and I am still getting tons of page views. This resort is ranked #1 on Tripadvisor for Varadero and I’m surprised there’s not more reviews about it. Depending on your travel preference, check out my review to see if staying at the Sanctuary is worth the extra money.

#2 Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blushes

When I first wrote about the Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blushes in the spring, it did not get a lot of traction. But I think when Sephora announced that they would be stocking Charlotte Tilbury, I got a lot more search results. Charlotte Tilbury products are expensive but are generally excellent quality! This blush can be extremely pigmented when built up and comes with a coordinating pop of color for the apple of the cheeks.

#1 YSL Tatouage Couture Matte Stain

This is a special piece of makeup for me as it has my name personalized on it. Not only is it beautifully packaged, it looks amazing on the lips as well. The YSL Tatouage Couture Matte Stain has been my go to lip color for special events this year! I actually also really love the YSL  Volupte Liquid Color Balm for more casual day and just a hint of color.

That completes my most popular posts in 2018! It’s always interesting to see what type of posts gets the most views but a lot of times it does

Hellllooo fall! 🍂🍁 In just a few weeks, the Hellllooo fall! 🍂🍁

In just a few weeks, the leaves are going to be golden red at Trout Lake!! 🤩😍. What are your favorite fall foliage spots in Vancouver?
Editing this post made MY MOUTH WATER!! 🤤🤤 Editing this post made MY MOUTH WATER!! 🤤🤤

Here are the best things I ate in Japan - restaraunt edition! (do you want to see one for snacks? or do you want to see a worst things I ate in Japan?)
Prices of the specific dish listed below.

1. Kanoko, try their special green tea infused soba or normal soba. I loved the dashi and tempura. Perfect lunch option for after visiting the tori gates. 1,300 Yen 🍜

2. Okonomiyaki Sakaba, you can pick the inside filling and a lot of the options were meat based. The sauce on top is delicious and you may be surprised the inside is mostly cabbage and not flour. 1,000 Yen🍥

3. Udon Bo Osaka, I tried out a cold dipping udon and it was excellent! They have a special yuzu sauce and the tempura is amazing too. 1,250 Yen 🍤

4. Roast Beef Ohno, the most affordable way to eat wagyu! Loved the sauces and nice side veggie dishes too. 1,750 Yen 🥓

5. Fuunji, flavorful dipping ramen with a vending machine to order! 1,400 (with egg + bamboo add on)🍱

6. Maguro Koya, holy crap I'm addicted to Ootoro now. So glad we splurged and got the double portion. We also tried the chutoro sashimi to compare cuts. 3,200 Yen 🍣

Hope this provides some delicious inspo for the best food in Japan!
Here's what I found from Ragtag in Japan!! 🤩🤩
I've definitely had my eye on a Dior piece and it's extra special that this design is a Japan exclusive.
I have to say, second hand designer shopping is a lot harder than I remembered! There are SO many stores now, I probably visited 20+ and the prices are not so cheap anymore 🤧🤧
.
A similar card holder from Dior is probably $600 CAD + tax. I got this one for ~$350 CAD. It's in excellent condition but there was no dust bag nor box.

📍 Ragtag, Shinseibashi, Osaka
