I tried out my first Charlotte Tilbury product three years ago! Since then, I’ve slowly explored their makeup range. I had the pleasure of trying the 5 Minute Makeup Revolution kit and also the Cheek to Chic blushes! I’m always impressed by the quality and attention to detail of the products. I have a very small collection of 4 Charlotte Tilbury Lipsticks but I wanted to show you some swatches and my thoughts.
Charlotte Tilbury products have beautiful packaging that is luxurious but also very minimalist. If you think about their lipstick packaging, it’s just a rose gold tube. But there are details that go into the packaging that takes the brand to another level. One of the first things that’s different is the weight of the lipstick. It sits in your hands like a valuable gem . Next, I love the resistance when I twist up the product. I usually find this with more high end lipsticks and I like it because it reassures me that the product won’t be falling over against the tube.
There are a two different types of finishes that Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks comes in. The Matte Revolution collection provides a lit from within matte lipstick look. Where as the K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipsticks gives a more creamy shiny finish! Both retail for $39 CAD each.
Matte Revolution – Very Victoria
Taupe Nude
This shade was inspired by Victoria Beckham and brings all the bad ass sophisticated feels. It is a cool toned neutral lipstick so this would pair especially well with a silvery smoky eye. I don’t usually love nude lipsticks but this is deep enough that it doesn’t wash me out.
I’ve actually had this lipstick for over 3 years and it was my first ever Charlotte Tilbury product! This feels less creamy than the other 3 lipsticks but I wonder if it’s due to age. The redness of my lips definitely make this show slightly more pink when worn.
Matte Revolution – Walk of Shame
Berry Rose
Out of the 4 lipsticks, this is my favorite shade! Although the shade is quite bold and deep, I find it looks quite natural on the lips. I like the to wear this for photos as it completes the look without taking over as the main focal point. The finish of this is has a beautiful matte sheen.
It’s a wonderful middle ground if you’re unsure about red lipsticks. I like that the color is so natural looking and quite a unique muted red shade. The formula of the Matte Revolution lipsticks have a nice grip to them. It’s easy to control when you are applying to the lips.
K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick – So Marilyn
Red
My only K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick is in the shade So Marilyn. The packaging is exactly the same but the formula and finish is very different! For one, the bullet shape is more of a traditional lipstick with one tapered point. Secondly, these lipsticks are more creamy and have a glossy finish.
So Marilyn is a beautiful true red with amazing shine! I’m a bit scared to actually wear this shade out as I think it’ll be really easy to get on your teeth. For bold red lipsticks, I prefer formulas that are a bit more grippy so I have confidence that I won’t smear it. This lipstick glides across the lips very easy due to the emollient creamy formula. It’s a gorgeous color but one that I probably won’t wear too often!
Matte Revolution – Red Carpet Red
I have another red lipstick in my collection and it is the Matte Revolution in Red Carpet Red. In the tube, the two red lipsticks look similar. But on the lips, it looks completely different. Red Carpet Red is a blue toned red with a slight sheen. This type of color really makes your teeth look white!
The color is very bold but the lipstick only leaves a thin layer of pigment on the lips. I like this formula and color a lot! It would look beautiful for a glamorous party.
