Valentine’s Day gifts are always hard and especially hard to buy for guys! I feel like with girls you can at least just get away with flowers and chocolate. I am all for practical gifts but I try to go for the splurge and romantic items for Valentine’s Day. Here are some Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for your boyfriend! It’s not a comprehensive list but just some brands and items to kick start your brainstorming.
Gone are the days of musky colognes and locker room axe sprays, the new trending fragrances are more unique and sometimes unisex. I review designer fragrances on the blog as they’re more accessible. But I love finding brands that specialize in fragrance and especially when they are innovative and unisex (consider it a half gift to yourself).
I got the chance to try out the Atelier Cologne Advent Calendar during Christmas and there’s so many scents from the brand that I love. Some of the best selling scents for men are: Orange Sanguine, Rose Anonyme, and Bois Blonds. The 30mL bottles retail around $75. You also have the option of 100mL or 200mL bottles. Or try their discovery set which is $35 but includes a $35 voucher for future purchases!
For even more a splurge, check out the ultra luxurious perfumes from Le Labo. Their most popular scent is Santal 33 and it definitely smells like a sophisticated gentleman. The pricing is ridiculously high at $215 for a 50mL bottle but it is hand blended and you get a personalized label. There are other products from the brand you can explore like candles, body products, and travel accessories. For any men with a picky taste, this will definitely make them feel spoiled.
Shopping for guy’s clothing is a lot easier as I find the fit is more forgiving. To stay on the safe side though, go for a classic item from a trending brand.
Whenever there is a fashion brand from Vancouver, I love to support them fully. Reigning Champ focuses on premium athletic wear and has been killing it with their classic designs and perfect fits. The T-shirts are around $55 and sweatshirts around $165. Or if your man loves to lounge around at home, their robes look amazing!
If your man has more of a streetstyle wardrobe, definitely check out October’s Very Own. Another Canadian brand that has really exploded in popularity with a clever Owl motif and constantly sold out stock. Drake is the owner of October’s Very Own which definitely adds to the trendy factor. The pricing for the clothes are actually very reasonable, the hard part is finding a size that’s not out of stock!
Lastly, I’d recommend getting something from Patagonia. The hipster westcoast style is in whether your guy is a hipster or not. Originally made for those who love the outdoors, Patagonia is worn around as casual weekend clothing as well. I love the oldschool logos as well as the colorblocking fleece sweatshirts.
We have seen beauty box subscriptions hit a peak in popularity a few years ago, but did you know there’s now monthly subscriptions for almost any interests? Just pick what he likes and search monthly subscription box. It’ll be a great gift as it will be professionally curated and will continue to come if you pick a longer subscription!
I know my boyfriend loves to drink coffee so I got him a Roasters Pack subscription last year! Each month, we received 3 different beans and some interesting information about each roaster. It’s definitely not the most economical way to buy coffee, but we had a lot of fun discovering new brands for 3 months. Nowadays, many of your local roasters will have their own subscription program, so you have that option as well! I’m working on a post of the best Vancouver coffee roasters but to give you a start you can try these: 49th Parallel, Timbertrain, Matchsticks, Rocanini
Another popular option are monthly wine subscription boxes. We usually buy our wines from BC Liquor Store. But often, many of the smaller wineries can’t fill the minimum quantity requirements so it is much more difficult to get access to their wines. A lot of wineries have their own program but you can also check out Wine Collective and Everything Wine.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of gifts you can get. But I hope these are a bit unique and will help you thinking about you boyfriend’s interests and find a gift that he’ll love.
