My foundation reviews are some of the most read posts on the blog and today I’ll be sharing my review on the Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF 15. Clinique is one of those brands who consistently puts out quality products (I tried out their cheek pop 3 years ago and still love it!). I think Clinique gets over looked sometimes because of their practical modest packaging. I’m definitely guilty of buying into the marketing hype of other brands but I’m sharing the love for Clinique today!
Basics
Name: Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF 15
Shade: 56 shades, I have WN 04 Bone
Price: $37 CAD
Size: 30mL
Available at Sephora and Clinique online
Packaging
In comparison to most of my foundations, the Clinique Even Better Makeup looks like a baby or deluxe sample size. But it contains 30mL of product which is pretty much the same as most products out in the market today. It’s a really simple plastic packaging but gives off a very true to brand feel. I actually kind of enjoy how lightweight and small it is. It’ll be great for packing for longer vacations (going to Greece for 2 weeks this June!)
Formula
The Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF 15 is Clinique’s best selling foundation! It’s kind of the perfect formula for a sheer to medium coverage. The medium consistency of the liquid spreads pretty easily with a foundation brush. It feels hydrating on my dry skin. The formula doesn’t stay liquidy though as it dries down pretty quickly to a satin finish.
There is something about the nozzle though that tends to splatter on the first squeeze if you don’t shake well. So that’s something to watch out for.
Shade
I am so impressed by the shade selection of this foundation! There are 56 shades to choose from! Like what?! I normally never go in store to get shade matched but because I couldn’t decide based on swatches online, I went to a Clinique counter at the Bay to get matched for shade WN 04 Bone. It has a nice neutral yellow undertone which will be great for Asian skin. I can see this suiting a large population of Asian skin as long as you’re not tanned.
Demo
Here you can see the difference of before and after. The biggest change is that my pores are covered and smoothed out. The second difference is that the redness on my cheeks are reduced. I would say it is a light coverage foundation as any freckles or dark spots still shows through.
Ratings
Shade: 10/10
Coverage: 5/5
Finish: 4/5
Packaging: 4/5
Value: 5/5
Total: 28/30 A
I feel like Clinique products don’t have the same marketability as the most trendy and hype brands. But this foundation really hit the mark for me despite the simple packaging and sensible claims. I like how my skin looks with a more even skin tone and the shade range is very impressive.
