What’s better than visiting wine country? What about sleeping in a cottage and waking up right in front of vineyards and mountains. I recently spent 3 days in Walla Walla sipping wine and enjoying quality time with my fiancee. During that time, we stayed at the Armstrong Vineyard Cottage and I’m here to share some photos and my experience!
Armstrong Vineyard Cottage
If you enjoy unique accommodations, staying on a vineyard should be top on your bucket list! It’s like a farm stay but you replace farm animals with the view of manicured vines. The Armstrong Vineyard Cottage is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage located right on the Armstrong family’s vineyard. Their home is on the same property although I never noticed them there! We had such a fabulous time and I can’t wait to show you what it looks like!
There are two bedrooms in the cottage which makes it perfect for families or a small group of friends! The two bedrooms are not equal though and you’ll want to fight for the master bedroom!
In the master bedroom, two sides of the walls are large windows that open out to the vineyards. It’s so beautiful to wake up, pull aside the curtains and see the morning light shine on to the vines. The room has a large walk in closet space and can access the bathroom within the room. We had a wonderful sleep on the queen bed with comfy mattress and bedding!
Here is what the second bedroom looks like! You can still see the vineyard out from the windows but the room is definitely smaller than the master. It is well furnished with a queen bed and still very comfortable!
There is only one bathroom in the cottage. However, the design is quite clever as there is a door in between the showers and the toilet so multiple people could be using the bathroom at the same time. There are also 2 sinks, one on each side of the door!
The living area is huge and wonderful for all seasons. There is a small furnace that adds so much to the rustic charm. We didn’t spend too much time in the living room but we did eat in the dining room. It’s one of my favorite corners of the cottage with the white chairs and focal lighting piece.
The Armstrong Vineyard Cottage comes with a full sized kitchen including stoves, ovens, and microwaves. We didn’t cook any meals here as there were so many amazing restaurants to choose from in downtown! But if you like to make your own food while on vacation, this cottage would be perfect! The cabinets are fully stocked with cutlery, plates, and most importantly, wine glasses.
The best part about the Armstrong Vineyard Cottage is the spacious patio that overlooks their vineyard! It’s covered by the roof so you can be shaded from the sun! We loved spending our afternoon drinking the Walla Walla wines that we just picked up. There are 4 patio chairs and a table available for use.
What made the location and experience so special though is that we were just steps away from the Armstrong family vineyard. As guests, you can feel free to take a walk through the rows and check on the status of the grapes. We even found the family dog, Boogie! If you walk to the end of the row, there is a small lake as well. It would be a cute spot to have a spontaneous picnic! The family is hoping to increase their vineyard size and a second lot will be coming in pretty soon.
I don’t have a clear photo unfortunately as I discovered this swing after sunset. I felt truly carefree swinging away while the vines blur past me.
As the cottage is based in a vineyard, it is not located in downtown Walla Walla. It takes about 15 minutes drive to reach downtown and it’s very easy as there’s never any traffic! The roads do get a little scary after dark since it’s not well lit. But otherwise, it is very accessible as long as you have a car. I love the rolling wheat fields along the way that look like golden mountains especially during sunset.

We had such a comfortable stay here for 3 nights and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique accomodation experience in a vineyard!
