Armstrong Vineyard Cottage: Where to Stay in Walla Walla

August 18, 2019

What’s better than visiting wine country? What about sleeping in a cottage and waking up right in front of vineyards and mountains. I recently spent 3 days in Walla Walla sipping wine. During that time, I stayed at the Armstrong Vineyard Cottage and I’m here to share some photos and my experience!

Armstrong Vineyard Cottage

If you enjoy unique accommodations, staying on a vineyard should be top on your bucket list! It’s like a farm stay but you replace farm animals with the view of manicured vines. The Armstrong Vineyard Cottage is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage located right on the Armstrong family’s vineyard. Their home is on the same property although I never noticed them there

Bedrooms

There are two bedrooms in the cottage which makes it perfect for families or a small group of friends! The two bedrooms are not equal though and you’ll want to fight for the master bedroom!

In the master bedroom, two sides of the walls are large windows that open out to the vineyards. It’s so beautiful to wake up, pull aside the curtains and see the morning light shine on to the vines. The room has a large walk in closet space and you can access the bathroom within the room.

Here is what the second bedroom looks like! You can still see the vineyard out from the windows but the room is definitely smaller than the master. It is well furnished with a queen bed and still very comfortable!

There is only one bathroom in the cottage. However, the design is quite clever as there is a door in between the showers and the toilet so multiple people could be using the bathroom at the same time. There are also 2 sinks, one on each side of the door!

Living Area

The living area is huge and wonderful for all seasons. There is a small furnace that adds so much to the rustic charm. It’s one of my favorite corners of the cottage with the white chairs and focal lighting piece.

Kitchen

The Armstrong Vineyard Cottage comes with a full sized kitchen including stoves, ovens, and microwaves. I didn’t cook any meals here as there were so many amazing restaurants to choose from in downtown! But if you like to make your own food while on vacation, this cottage would be perfect! The cabinets are fully stocked with cutlery, plates, and most importantly, wine glasses.

Outdoor Space

The best part about the Armstrong Vineyard Cottage is the spacious patio that overlooks their vineyard! It’s covered by the roof so you can be shaded from the sun! I loved spending my afternoon drinking the Walla Walla wines that I just picked up. There are 4 patio chairs and a table available for use.

The Vineyard

What made the location and experience so special though is that the cabin was just steps away from the family vineyard. As guests, you can feel free to take a walk through the rows and check on the status of the grapes. I even found the family dog, Boogie! If you walk to the end of the row, there is a small lake as well. The family is hoping to increase their vineyard size and a second lot will be coming in pretty soon.

The Location

As the cottage is based in a vineyard, it is not located in downtown Walla Walla. It takes about 15 minutes drive to reach downtown and it’s very easy as there’s never any traffic! The roads do get a little scary after dark since it’s not well lit. But otherwise, it is very accessible as long as you have a car. I love the rolling wheat fields along the way that look like golden mountains especially during sunset.

Make a Reservation

You can make a reservation for the Armstrong Vineyard Cottage on Walla Walla Vacation Rentals. Nightly rates are $315.50 USD. There is no housekeeping during your stay. But all new towels, linens, toiletries are provided at the start of your stay. When you are heading to downtown Walla Walla, don’t forget to stop by at the Armstrong Vineyard tasting room on Main Street. On Wednesday nights, there is live Jazz music and the vibe is amazing!

I would highly recommend the Armstrong Vineyard Cottage to anyone looking for a unique accommodation experience in a vineyard!

My stay was kindly hosted by Visit Walla Walla.
