Clarins Joli Blush Review

November 10, 2019

Blushes are so pretty to look at, but surprisingly I always end up reaching for the same ones. For Fall 2019, the new Clarins Joli Blush launched with 8 shades. These are described as ultra pigmented and with pH reactants so it’s a customizable shade based on your skin! Can you believe this is Clarin’s first blush?!

Basics

Name: Clarins Joli Blush
Shade: 8 (I have 03 Cheeky Rose and 06 Cheeky Coral)
Size: 4.9g
Price: $33 CAD

Packaging

The Clarins Joli Blush comes in a circular compact with a mirror inside. I like that the outside corresponds to the color inside. Each compact also includes a travel sized blush brush. The bristles are densely packed but it’s more of a one dimensional shape as it’s flat. You’ll need to be pretty careful if you are using this brush to apply as it can leave unblended edges.

03 Cheeky Rose

Cheeky Rose is a bright deep pink color in the pan. On my cheeks, it looks very natural and a good balance between pink and neutrals. There is a strong scent to the blush that is fragrant and beautiful. But it is quite strong so something to consider. The formula includes hazelnut oil although it sits around the middle of the ingredient list.

06 Cheeky Coral

I really loved the color of 06 Cheeky Coral in the pan! It is a dreamy color that instantly reminds me of summer. However, this shade doesn’t really show up on swatches or on my cheeks. It’s a bit disappointing but I think it would be beautiful for more fair complexion.

Swatches

So I did two types of swatches of the Clarins Joli Blush. On the left, I used the brush that comes with the compact. The pigmentation is a lot softer and I thought this would mimick the pigmentation on your cheeks best. Then, I did the traditional finger swatch.

Next, I wanted to show a before and after. I used 02 Cheeky Rose. Hopefully you can see that there’s a touch more pink around the apples of the cheeks. It also blends together the bronzer with my foundation better. I did a before and after with 06 Cheeky Coral as well, but unfortunately I couldn’t see a difference in person or on camera.

Ratings

Packaging 9/10
Shades 8/10
Pigmentation 6/10
Formula 9/10
Value 8/10

Overall 40/50 B

I thought that the formula itself was pleasant to use, and blended in well with the skin! However the shade selection wasn’t that unique and I didn’t notice any pH adjusting results. The lowest mark comes from the pigmentation because 06 Cheeky Coral does not show up on my skin. I think I enjoyed my Clarins Joli Rouge lipsticks more than these blushes. If you are looking for a great blusher, I’ve been loving the Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic blushes!

Here's what I found from Ragtag in Japan!! 🤩🤩
I've definitely had my eye on a Dior piece and it's extra special that this design is a Japan exclusive.
I have to say, second hand designer shopping is a lot harder than I remembered! There are SO many stores now, I probably visited 20+ and the prices are not so cheap anymore 🤧🤧
.
A similar card holder from Dior is probably $600 CAD + tax. I got this one for ~$350 CAD. It's in excellent condition but there was no dust bag nor box.

No reservations are required and the fare is just the basic fare (approximately $4!) 🚅

We showed up 30 minutes before boarding and was the first ones for car 5. Car 3 seems to be the most popular for the cherry blossoms!

I've been using this a lot on my vacation and it stays on amazingly well all day even with the humidity.
I went for a more unique shade but all the basic browns and neutrals are available too!

Would you swap your current eyeshadow for this?
