My skin is dry everywhere! Winter time always results in flaky skin but luckily I’ve found a few products that really help! Today I’ll be sharing the best skincare serums for dry skin!
Last year, I wrote about the best face creams for dry skin. So check out that post for a great hydration skincare routine.
Bioderma Hydrabio
I first tried out Bioderma Hydrabio collection almost 5 years ago. You can check out my blog post about the skincare collection but don’t judge me on the bad photography and writing. The Bioderma Hydrabio Serum is in a gel texture with a viscous consistency. I really enjoy how refreshing it feels. I remember having such dry flaky skin and this helped to fix it within a few days.
You can combine the serum with the Bioderma Hydrabio Gel-Cream or the Hydrabio Creme. This is a great no fuss collection to rehydrate the skin and get it ready for the cold weather. The main ingredient is the Aguagenium patent which teaches the skin how to moisturize itself again. It also contains glycerin which is a great ingredient for rehydration.

Consonant Hydrextreme
I don’t try out new skincare brands that often because it’s a big risk to take. But I saw this Canadian brand – Consonant Skincare – available at Sephora and was curious about their products. Their hylauronic serum is seriously life changing. The texture is just like water and will slip through your fingers if you’re not careful. You only need a tiny amount to cover your whole face. The skin texture immediately after applying is plump and supple. I also notice a difference in the day after. The only negative is that it’s so expensive, but I definitely see an immediately difference!

Caudalie Vinosource SOS Deep Hydration Serum
I’m a big fan of Caudalie skincare as I find they have a curated collection of products designed for specific skincare needs. Last year, I tried out the Vinoperfect collection and enjoyed the effects of the night cream. I’ve recently been testing out the Caudalie Vinosource SOS Deep Hydration collection and it’s a great pick for those with dehydrated and dry skin.
Each of Caudalie’s products contain the iconic Grape Water that is special to the brand. It’s a soothing ingredient that also adds a bit of moisturization. This serum also contains hyaluronic acid (starting to see a pattern?) which is the hydration and plumping powerhorse. Lastly, there is also olive squalene to lock in the moisture.

La Roche Posay Hyalu B5
I’ve had a lot of success with La Roche Posay products and this is a fantastic hydrating serum. The La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 Serum contains hyaluronic acid. It also claims to be anti-wrinkle and will plump up this skin which is another benefit of this multitasking acid.
It has a gel like texture but will spread out very easily on the skin. I need to test this one out more but it is a cult favorite for hydration!

Vichy Mineral 89
Lastly, the iconic Vichy 89. The bottle I have here is a special edition one for Lunar New Year. It is a very light weight, almost watery serum that helps to hydrate and sooth my skin. And no surprise here, this product contains hyaluronic acid.
In addition, this product is marketed as a skin “booster”. With continued use, it’s suppose to strengthen the skin’s barrier function.

What is Hyaluronic Acid
I feel like this ingredient is the main commonality between all the products mentioned in this post. Your skin cells actually produce hyaluronic acids naturally. One gram of this acid can hold up to 6 litres of water. I’m trying to imagine how this is possible but unfortunately my bachelor’s degree is not in chemistry!
This ingredient is a humectant so it helps to attract moisture to the skin. It will also plump the skin. And as you can imagine, if your skin is plump, wrinkles will appear much less noticeable! So if you have dry skin, definitely look out for this ingredient.
