My Highlighter Collection – Updated 2020

July 27, 2020

Interests come and go, but one thing that has stayed constant for me over the years is my love for watching declutter and makeup collection videos! I’ve done several makeup collection posts on the blog and this will actually be the 2nd edition of sharing my highlighter collection (check out my original collection and see what’s changed )!

Drugstore Highlighters

Pixi Glow-y Gossamer Duos
When I got it: Summer 2019
% Used: 0%
These two duos have just sat in my collection for the past year. They are gorgeous to look at and I really have to use them soon. They swatch beautifully!

Pixi Glow-y Gossamer Duos

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in Golden Lights – Review
When I got it: Summer 2016
% Used: 5%
One of my oldest and dearest products! I absolutely love this when I want a highlight that is in your face. Although it looks chalky white in the pan, the glow is a gorgeous golden chrome. It’s also very affordable.

Maybelline Master Chrome + Master Holographic – Review
When I got it: Spring 2018
% Used: 1%
These were really popular drugstore highlighters a few years ago! The one on the left is rose gold and swatches pretty intensely. The one on the right is a different formula and has more varying chunks of shimmer, giving it an almost celestial feel.

Left to Right: Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter, Maybelline Master Holographic, Maybelline Masterchrome Metallic Highlighter

Lancome La Rose a Poudrer
When I got it: Winter 2018
% Used: 1%
I don’t think I’ll realistically use this because it’s so pretty to look at! The petals are covered by a film of product and when I swatched it, a lot of pigmentation actually came off!

YSL Touche Eclat Shimmer Stick
When I got it: Spring 2019
% Used: 5%
I just started testing and trying this! It’s a very strong metallic sheen and it’s great if you want a high impact highlighter.

Cream and Liquid Highlighters

Liquid and cream highlighters take a bit more work to apply than powder highlighters. But it can leave you with a very natural dewy glow. Or sometimes it’s the other way around and it can be a very strong highlight.

Mary Kay Illuminating Drops
When I got it: ??
% Used: 1%
This stuff is so pigmented! It’s also one of the only pure gold highlights I have in my collection. I rarely use it in real life but I keep it around just in case I want to look extra bronzy and gold.

Mary Kay Glowing Finish Illuminating Stick– Review
When I got it: Fall 2016
% Used: 10%
I’ve actually used this product quite a bit before. It is a beautiful pink golden sheen with no visible shimmer. The color is a bit dark though and since it’s so old, I’m going to declutter this.

Charlotte Tilbury Beach Stick in Full Moon- Review
When I got it: Winter 2018
% Used: 10%
This is suppose to be a blush but I lumped it in accidentally as a highlighter. I don’t like cream blushes as much as cream highlighters so I’ll be decluttering this.

Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight
When I got it: Spring 2019
% Used: 1%
I usually don’t go for cool toned highlighter as it’s too unnatural. This one is a bit harder to blend out with the fingers and leaves a more evident line. I’ll be decluttering this.

Left to Right: Mary Kay Illuminating Drops, Mary Kay Glowing Finish Illuminating Stick, Charlotte Tilbury Beach Stick, Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight

It Cosmetics Hello Light Creme
When I got it: Summer 2015
% Used: 20%
Oh god, this is so old! Every year, I pull it out thinking, let me use it up but I still haven’t even hit pan yet! I love using this as it creates such a natural effect. There’s no shimmer or glitter, but just a pure highlight.

NYX Away We Glow Liquid Highlighter
When I got it: Spring 2018
% Used: 1%
I always keep this around as I think it’s great for travel. There’s a doe foot applicator and you can dab it out with your fingers. The color is so pretty on the skin and it’s such a natural strong highlight.

Maybelline Liquid Strobe in Iridescent – Review
When I got it: Fall 2017
% Used: 1%
I rarely reach for this but it is the most unique highlighter shade I have in my collection. The base color is a white pearl but the duochrome is this gorgeous blue pink color that makes it feel ethereal.

Left to Right: It Cosmetics Hello Light Creme, NYX Away We Glow Liquid Highlighter, Maybelline Liquid Strobe in Iridescent

Highlighter Palettes

I quite enjoy using cheek palettes as I can get my bronzer, blush, and highlighter all in one. I didn’t include those here and only included palettes that solely have highlighters. To be honestly, I have not touched either of them.

Makeup Revolution Highlighter Palette
When I got it: Fall 2018
% Used: 0%
I really love my single Makeup Revolution highlighter so I have high hopes for this one. Knowing the brand, these will probably be super pigmented!

Catrice x EMAN Highlighter Palette
When I got it: Fall 2019
% Used: 0%
This is my newest highlighter in my whole collection. This palette is in collaboration with Eman and because she’s darker in skin tone, these highlighters are also better for those darker skin. It’s a nice change as I rarely see darker bronze colors as highlighters.

No reservations are required and the fare is just the basic fare (approximately $4!) πŸš…
Check online for the most updated timetable but the most current is
9:32, 11:32, 13:32, and 15:32 leaving Osaka for Kyoto!
We showed up 30 minutes before boarding and was the first ones for car 5. Car 3 seems to be the most popular for the cherry blossoms!

I've been using this a lot on my vacation and it stays on amazingly well all day even with the humidity.
I went for a more unique shade but all the basic browns and neutrals are available too!
.
Would you swap your current eyeshadow for this?

1. BUYING TICKETS 🎟 - Tickets are about $30 CAD each and you can purchase online directly. I'd recommend buying one month in advance to secure the 9am time slot!

2. WEAR A DRESS, if you want πŸ‘—- there's warning that the mirrors will reflect and your undergarments would show 🀭 but unless someone's standing right on top of you, it won't be visible. I wore shorts to avoid this but I think a skirt or dress would have been totally fine.

3. GO EARLY πŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈ - I know, oldest tip in the book but it took us almost an hour to get there from shinjuku. We arrived at 850am for 9am entry and there was already a huge line. We got in around 930am.

4. READ THE PLAQUES πŸ“œ - either before or after the exhibits, there are plaques that explain the exhibit. Although teamlab is amazing for photos, it adds a layer of depth if you understand what the exhibit is trying to convey. A lot of the interactive artwork shows the connection of humans and the environment we live in. It's super interesting!!
