Running a small business is exciting but challenging. With the pandemic disrupting business this year, I wanted to shine some light on a local brand: Scentuals Skincare. The company is based in Coquitlam, BC (about an hour away from Vancouver) and all their products are 100% natural and cruelty free. They sent me a few items to try and I wanted to share my thoughts. I was also really impressed by the ingredient list so I shared the first 5 ingredients of each product!
Jasmine Breeze Sugar Scrub
First Five Ingredients: Sugar, Sea Salt, Rice Bran Oil, Avocado Oil, Vegetable Glycerin

With a little extra time to burn these days, why not add a scrub to your shower routine. The Scentual Sugar Scrubs are 100% natural and exfoliates to leave smooth skin. Some body scrubs I’ve tried are more moisturizer with scrubbing particles suspended in it. But this one is mostly all sugar. This means that it’s a bit more crumbly in the shower and you have to take care to rub it in the skin before it falls off. It doesn’t leave the skin too oily but I do feel smooth and hydrated afterwards. Jasmine Breeze is a lovely scent that is clean, lightly floral, and reminds me of a spa experience.

Vanilla Tangerine Hand & Body Lotion
First Five Ingredients: Aloe juice, Rice Bran oil, Emulsifying wax, Avocado oil, Vegetable Glycerin

This is my favorite product out of the bunch and I’ve been using it every time I get out of the shower. To start, I absolutely love the scent. There is a strong citrus component to it, but it’s rounded out perfectly with the sweetness of vanilla. The scent is also not overpowering, but just enough to get a whiff as you move.
In terms of the texture, it is on the thin side. But it feels very hydrating and absorbs quickly into the skin.

Grapefruit Tumeric Hand Repair Cream
First Five Ingredients: Aloe juice, Sweet Almond oil, Emulsifying wax, Shea butter, Vegetable Glycerin

The Scentuals Hand Repair Cream is a heavy duty product for the driest of skins. The texture is similar to a body butter. It doesn’t fully sink in immediately but it does feel nice on the skin. Grapefruit Turmeric is very similar in scent as Vanilla Tangerine, but with a tiny tinge of spice. In case you are concerned about staining from the turmeric, I didn’t notice any color transfer.

Rosemary Mint Liquid Hand Soap
First Five Ingredients: Water, Coco Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Glycerin, Xanthan Gum

Okay, so hand soap might not be the most exciting thing. But with the COVID pandemic, you better believe hand soaps are hot commodity. The Scentual Liquid Hand Soap pumps out in almost a watery substance. It lathers up but it does not foam all over. The consistency is totally different than other soaps I’ve tried, and I kind of enjoy it!
Usually, my hands feel so tight and I need to immediately reach for hand cream. But this one leaves my hand feeling pretty neutral which is great as I”m constantly using hand sanitizer and soap these days.

I’m really impressed by the accessible price point of Scentuals products. All of the items have very pure ingredients and stay true to the brand. The quality is very nice and I hope you will try to support local for your next skin or body care purchase!
