Olay Regenerist Whip SPF40: Sunscreen, Moisturizer, Primer

August 17, 2020

I’ve always known wearing sunscreen on a daily basis is super important! But it’s always been hard to put in action because I haven’t found a sunscreen I enjoyed enough to use every day. I’m excited because I found the Olay Regenerist Whip SPF40 which acts as a moisturizer, sunscreen, and primer all in one! I can’t wait to share the details with you in this post!

Post created in sponsorship with Olay

Daily Sun Exposure: Why You Need to Wear Sunscreen Everyday

I find that my friends and I are usually pretty good about lathering up on sunscreen before going to the beach. But did you know on average we get about 18 hours a week of incidental UV exposure?

Things like working in an office (or at home) by a window, driving a car, just taking a walk around the block all result in sun exposure. Without daily protection, sun damage can really age your skin!

Olay Regenerist Whip SPF40

Olay Regenerist Whip SPF40 is the brand’s best selling moisturizer now with their strongest sun protection. The active ingredients providing UVA/UVB protection are: avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate, and octocrylene.

What makes this product different is that it’s a skincare product first! I love using it and knowing that I’m getting moisturizing benefits on top of sun protection! In terms of skincare ingredients, it contains Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide), Hyaluronic Acid and Amino Peptides. Hyaluronic Acid is my favorite ingredient for hydration. Niacinamide is really great for improving the skin’s defense and evening out your skin.

Formula: Works With Makeup

I’m really impressed by how the Olay Regenerist Whip SPF40 feels on the skin! It applies much more like a daily moisturizer than a sunscreen. You can definitely see and feel the whipped texture. It feels soothing and comforting on the skin. The product absorbs quickly which is really great as I don’t have to wait to start applying my makeup. There’s no greasy feel and the product is oil-free!

I’m glad that there are no issues with pilling when I apply foundation on top. And on days when I don’t feel like wearing foundation, this product actually acts as a nice primer so I find my blush and bronzer stays on better! It’s nice to be able to find sun protection that I can use daily underneath makeup!

If you dislike the smell of sunscreen, you’re in luck as this smells heavenly! I’m not sure if it’s the same smell as other Olay products but it is a very pampering and relaxing scent.

Fun Sun Facts

I’ll leave this post with a few fun sun facts!

SPF protection is highly dependent on using the right amount and is not
linear. If you use only half of the right amount of an SPF30, you only get an SPF of around 8 (not 15)!

The SPF value represents how much longer you can stay in the sun without burning. If your skin normally burns after 10 mins, with an SPF 30 your skin will burn after 30x10mins = 5 hours. Some skin damage can still occur during that time.

I've been using this a lot on my vacation and it stays on amazingly well all day even with the humidity.
I went for a more unique shade but all the basic browns and neutrals are available too!

Would you swap your current eyeshadow for this?

1. BUYING TICKETS 🎟 - Tickets are about $30 CAD each and you can purchase online directly. I'd recommend buying one month in advance to secure the 9am time slot!

2. WEAR A DRESS, if you want πŸ‘—- there's warning that the mirrors will reflect and your undergarments would show 🀭 but unless someone's standing right on top of you, it won't be visible. I wore shorts to avoid this but I think a skirt or dress would have been totally fine.

3. GO EARLY πŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈ - I know, oldest tip in the book but it took us almost an hour to get there from shinjuku. We arrived at 850am for 9am entry and there was already a huge line. We got in around 930am.

4. READ THE PLAQUES πŸ“œ - either before or after the exhibits, there are plaques that explain the exhibit. Although teamlab is amazing for photos, it adds a layer of depth if you understand what the exhibit is trying to convey. A lot of the interactive artwork shows the connection of humans and the environment we live in. It's super interesting!!
