Following up on my bright lipstick collection are these two gorgeous YSL Slim Sheer Matte Lipsticks. I got these in my hands during Christmas last year but only started wearing it more often in the summer time. YSL lipsticks are some of my favorite luxury beauty items so let’s see if the YSL Slim Sheer Matte Lipsticks lives up to the hype.
Name: YSL Slim Sheer Matte Lipsticks
Shades: Available in 12 different shades
Find it at Sephora and YSL Canada
YSL lipsticks usually come in their iconic design (check out the link if you don’t know what I’m talking about). But the YSL Slim Sheer Matte lipsticks come in a totally different style. With a matte black lid and a gold logo on the bottom, this new lipstick design feels super sleek in the hands.
The other noticeable difference is the shape of the lipstick itself. Shaped like a slanted diamond, this shape reaches all the edges of your lips. My lips are on the smaller side and often times I get lipstick outside of my lines. But with this design, it surprisingly stays within my lip lines really well.
I love several YSL formulas and this one did not disappoint! I’m amazed at how lightweight this feels on the lips. It’s not a very creamy formula so it applies with more of a grip across the lips which is helpful for keeping the lipstick within your lip lines. I didn’t find it to be drying at all even though it is not creamy.
The “sheer” in the product name is both true and untrue. There is definitely a decent amount of color pay off in the lipstick but it’s not as bold as you would think. Both lipsticks look quite natural when worn. The color stays on really well and it’s visible even after drinking and eating.
Swatches of the YSL Slim Sheer Matte Lipsticks
103 Orange Provocant – Out of the two, I like this shade a bit better and I’ve been wearing it throughout summer. It’s a beautiful deep coral that brings out the white in teeth and tan in skin.
109 Rose Denude – Fuschia lipsticks are really flattering and I found this one to be the case as well. It’s a bright pop of color but it’s not too out there and surprisingly looks natural due to the finish.
My lips were so dry that day so I’m actually pretty pleased at how well the lipstick covers it up and how it appeared in the photos. Most people don’t have smooth lips every day and I’m happy to show you a realistic swatch.
Total 39/40 A+
I am a huge fan of this formula and also this packaging! The colors are beautiful for adding a pop of color to my everyday makeup look. I also get a really clean application due to the diamond shaped lipstick bullet. If you’re on the market to splurge on a lipstick, I’d highly recommend the YSL Slim Sheer Matte Lipsticks!
