With all the buzz words around clean beauty these days, it’s hard to find which brands truly walk the talk. I’ve been testing Derma E Hydrating skincare products which features hyaluronic acid as the star ingredient. Can it be clean and effective?

About the Brand – Derma E Natural Skincare
The origins of Derma E came from a jar of Vitamin E that was being sold at a health food store. Now, Derma E is one of the largest natural skincare brands with products still being made in the USA! All of Derma E’s products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. In Canada, you can find their products at Whole Foods. In the USA, you can purchase directly from them online.
Derma E Ultra Hydrating Serum

Let’s start off with the first step and my favorite product of this collection, the Derma E Ultra Hydrating Serum. Hyaluronic Acid is the star ingredient in the whole collection and is a well known compound that improves the skin’s moisture levels. Other ingredients include: green tea (protection against UV and environmental stress), Provitamin B5 (humectant), and Vitamin C (brighter skin).
There are no specific anti-aging ingredients but with a more hydrated and plumped skin, the appearance of wrinkles can be diminished. The serum is very light weight and spreads into a watery texture which absorbs very quickly. I’ve used this in the morning before makeup and at night. I notice that my skin is very smooth and any bumps around my nose area is gone when I use this!
However, it is summer time right now and my skin is not as dry as during the winter times! I will have to test it against my other trusty hydrating serums during the winter times.

Derma E Hydrating Eye Cream

I am not yet a consistent eye cream user but I’m trying to get into it! I normally wear eyelash extensions so I avoid using creams on my eye lids. But I’m noticing that I have fine lines on my outer corners and that’s where I usually focus using the eye cream.
The Derma E Hydrating Eye Cream has a slight beige tint to it but no scent. Similar to the hydrating serum, it also contains hyaluronic acid, green tea, and vitamin C. The eye cream also contains Vitamin A, E and a compound that reduces the appearance of puffiness around the eyes. I enjoyed the texture of this cream as it’s relatively light but still feels very nourishing. I didn’t notice any difference in my actual eye area yet.

Derma E Hydrating Night Cream

The description of this product is that it’s an ultra-rich, intensely hydrating night cream. But don’t let that scare you off as the formula feels quite lightweight and is not greasy. This night cream has the same scent as the hydrating serum but I find it hard to pin down exactly what it smells like. It’s a bit sweet and also vegetal. I have to say, I didn’t like the scent when I first started using it. It’s starting to grow on me now but it’s still not a scent I immediately love.
The formula works well with the hydrating serum as I wake up with very smooth and hydrated skin. I also tend to get redness on the cheeks but my skin looks very balanced when I wake up after using these products. One thing I found a bit odd was a tightening effect in the first 10 minutes after applying this cream. Some people may enjoy this but I found it a bit odd as it’s not part of the claims and I was at first a bit concerned. But the tightening dissipated and I woke up with hydrated skin.

Derma E Ultra Hydrating Alkaline Overnight Facial

Full disclosure, I don’t enjoy overnight mask products because I’m pretty sure it gets all over your pillowcase no? And who has time to wash this off in the morning?
With that said, I love how this looks in the jar though! The Derma E Ultra Hydrating Alkaline Overnight Facial is a gel formula with an enticing green tint and little gel chunks which are Alkaline water beads suspended in the formula. In the summer heat, this looks like a refreshing treat to put all over the face. It absorbs decently but depending on how thick of a layer you use, there is residual stickiness. I would personally skip this and using the hydrating serum and night cream instead.

Overall Thoughts on Derma E Hydrating Skincare Products

Overall, these products definitely perform to their claim and I’m impressed by the ingredient list as well! My skin felt very hydrated when I woke up. I sometimes have small bumps around the chin and nose area and all of those disappeared as well! However, I don’t love the scent in the products which hinders the enjoyment of the process a bit for me. If you are looking to switch to a natural skincare brand, definitely give Derma E a try! Their price point is also affordable and accessible.
