Review: Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara

January 10, 2014

First off, I love the packaging! It’s so retro and pretty!
The brush is a really big natural bristle brush. The bristles are densely packed together. I thought this would clump so bad but it actually doesn’t.

What they say:
This new formula is buildable, virtually weightless, smudge-proof, flake-proof, and provides ultra-long wear. Unlike other thickening mascaras, which can clump, this high-tech, moisturizing formula includes hemp seed oil, vitamin E, jojoba oil, and purisilk SPB to condition lashes and maintain a soft feel. The uniquely shaped, big molded brush actually latches onto lashes to load mascara evenly to each lash. The most exciting thing: The tip of the brush is covered in small bristles, specially made to deftly handle your tiny lower and corner lashes. No need to buy a special mascara for your corner lashes.

*The packaging/brush is different from what I have. I think the version I have is now discontinued*

What I say:
At first glance, the brush is HUGE and is kind of intimidating. I thought this would clump like crazy but it actually doesn’t clump at all! My favorite part about this mascara is that it leaves my lashes soft. Some mascaras can make your lashes crunchy but this one does not. However, it doesn’t really give huge volume or length.

Very black look. But smudged on my upper lids

Mascara Ratings
Big lashes: 4/5
Blackness: 5/5
No clumping: 5/5
No flaking/smudging: 3/5
Easy to take off: 5/5
Value: 3/5

Overall 25/30    A

This would be a great every day mascara. I bought this quite cheap when it was on sale. But if it’s $20 I would expect more and would probably choose a drugstore mascara over this. My favorite part about this mascara is how soft and fluffy my lashes feel after wearing it. But it doesn’t give the most dramatic look.
