2017 Empties

August 6, 2017

2017 Empties Part 1

Cleaning out my empties basket is one of the best feelings for me! Am I crazy or anyone else experience this? Anyways, here are the items I’ve recently finished up and a mini review!

Neutrogena Makeup Remover :)- These were effective, and contained the right amount of wetness.

Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder 🙂– This is a powder that turns into a creamy foam when it contacts water. It has a beautiful natural scent and I enjoyed the result.

Estee Edit Pink Peony Overnight Water Pack :/ – I liked the light scent but didn’t think this was moisturizing enough.

THEFACESHOP Mild Papaya Peeling 🙂 – This is suppose to remove dead skin cells and is super fun to use because it balls up and you feel like you are getting rid of all the dead dry skin!

Sephora Rose Sleeping Mask 🙂 – I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. It’s suppose to be a single use but lasted me at least 5 times. Nice refreshing water pack type of product.

Bioderma Hydrabio Micelle Solution 🙂– This stuff is the bomb! It takes off everything so well and gentle on the skin! Definitely want to repurchase!

Sephora Rose Face Mask :/ – Nice and relaxing but doesn’t do too much! I will probably never spend over $2 on a sheet mask!

Essence I love Extreme Volume Mascara 🙁– The formula was too thick and caused clumping
Fusion Beauty Brow Fusion Artist Duo :/– This was really easy to use to fill in the brows but the last little bit fell off and since it’s so expensive I’m not sure if it’s worth it.
MAC Creamsheen Glass in Narcissus 🙂– I love this color, it’s scary purple in the tube but such a flattering berry on my lips! It’s also very glossy!
Fresh Tinted Lip Treatment in Fig 🙁– I love fresh lip treatments but this particular shade has glitter and the color wears off before the glitter and is not that flattering!
DW Home Tobacco Leaf & Sandalwood Candle :/– Got this from Winners and love the container but I had a bad burn with an off center wick. Long burn time though!
Soap & Glory Hand Food in Smoothie Star 🙁 – Wasn’t a fan of the scent and was difficult to get all the product out.
Living Proof Prime Style Extender 🙂 – Love this stuff! Keeps my hair clean for longer!! Already repurchased.
Fable Naturals Apricot + Olive Nourishing Body Oil :)- I thought I would hate it but it smelled so fresh and fruity and also absorbed pretty quickly!

EOS Shave Cream in Vanilla Bliss 🙂 – I love this much more than foaming shaving creams, it’s more moisturizing and luxurious feeling!

Up & Up 100% Acetone :/- I think this is more harsh than my current 100% acetone but can that even be possible?

I finished so many teas recently due to the cold weather and me being sick for a while! I think I surprisingly loved all of them:

-Peanut Butter Cup (Fruit Infusion): Nutty and chocolatey, good for before bed
-Raspberry Cream Pie (Rooibos): Creamy with a hint of tartness
-Monk’s Blend (White Tea): Light flavor with a creamy finish
-White Nectarine (White Tea): Super fresh and fruity
-Juicy Orange (Black Tea): Exactly like biting into an orange

However, I’m noticing that a lot of the teams have natural or artificial flavoring which I’m not crazy about. If you have loose leaf tea recommendations, let me know!

What have you finished up recently? I think this year I’ll keep a separate bag with all my makeup empties and do a count at the end of the year!

2017 Empties Part 2

I’ve been diligently collecting my trash so it’s time for another empties post!

–Korres Castanea Arcadia Night Cream 🙂 OMG HOLY GRAIL! I reviewed this recently and have been using it every day for about 3 months. My skin is so supple when I wake up and it really helped me avoid dry flaky skin during winter time.

–fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream 🙂 I actually gave this to my mom to use and she really liked it! She said it was refreshing and the gel texture was unique!

–EOS Lip Balm 🙂 Always a staple and I used it before sleeping every day for about a year!

-Tocca Simone :/ At first I really enjoyed the scent as it’s light and fruity. However, similar to the Anna Sui Sweet Dreams perfume, I found sometimes it smelled like a “wet dog” on my skin.

-Urban Decay Naked Foundation in 4.0 🙂 Favorite foundation I’ve ever used. The formula is so light and the shade was perfect

-elf Stipple Brush 🙂 I used this to apply the UD foundation and it gives a natural finish! Unfortunately the brush handle broke but for $3 this was well worth the money!

-Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer 🙂 I surprisingly enjoyed it as it was a silicone type primer. But I found it really did keep my makeup fresh for longer!

-Benefit They’re Real Mascara 🙂 Another one of my holy grail mascaras. The wand is a bit spiky but if you build up the formula, you’ll get some crazy long lashes.

–Annabelle Bigshow Mascara 🙂 This was actually a 2016 favorite as it just created long, thick lashes!

–Youngblood Minerals in the Mist :/ I’m not sure if this did anything but the scent was super relaxing (vanilla and lavender) and the mist was fine.

–The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Body Lotion 🙂 I didn’t think I would like this scent but it’s nutty and sweet and smells so comforting! The formula is pretty light and easy to absorb

–L’Occitane Verveine Agrumes Fresh Shampoo 🙂 Strong citrus scent and it lathers amazingly. It’s a really nice shampoo that I used to clarify in between my other shampoos.

–Crabtree & Evelyn Gardeners Hand Cream 🙁 I’m not that big of a fan as I feel the formula leaves my hands feeling dry still.
-Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream 🙂 It was a pretty small sample but I liked the texture and the natural scent.

-Organic Japanese Sencha 🙂 I don’t usually get non-blends at David’s Tea but this was surprisingly good. Very pure and soothing

-Tumeric Glow 🙁 Too strong of ginger taste

-Pistachio Ice Cream 🙁 It was a weird combination of savory and sour

-Apple Cider 🙂 Sweet and tart, it tastes almost like an apple cider!

Lastly, here are some items I’m tossing.

–AG hair care Simply Dry Dry Shampoo 🙁 This clogged, or leaked but it’s empty and I barely used it!

-Dinoplatz Concealer 🙁 It’s very high coverage but quite cakey, I’ve had this for 3 years now.

-elf Eyebrow Kit 🙂 A pretty good kit but only the cream side matches me and I’ve had this for 4 years. It now smells bad

-Annabelle and Rimmel eyeliners that were good but are just too old

-TFS Milky Moisture Tint in 04 Grape Pink 🙂 I love the smell and texture but this is now expired

–Maybelline Babylips :/ Cute to look at but it now smells funny

-Estee Lauder New Dimension Expert Liquid Tape 🙁 This doesn’t do anything unfortunately

-got2b Smooth Operator 🙂 I’ve had this for so many years. Although I didn’t use it much, the smell is amazing and it detangles and smooths the hair very well

Who are your favorite project panners to watch? Also please link me with your empties 🙂

2017 Empties Part 3

I saved up my trash so I can give you a mini review! Surprisingly most items this time around are all things I really enjoyed! I can’t believe the year is more than half done. I need to use up more makeup items for the rest of year, especially a powder product.

Tocca Florence 🙂 The scent was quite unique with a lot of earthy notes, definitely made me feel like a sophisticated Parisian

Pixi Brow Gel Pen 🙂 Very pigmented if you press hard, but easy to use once you get the hang of it

Ciate Wonderwand Mascara 🙂 – Review: I really liked this mascara as it made my lashes feel plushy

Fusion Beauty Lashfusion XXL Mascara 🙂 – Review: I was able to really build up my lashes with this mascara!

GOSH Forever Lip Shine in Flirty Dreams :/ – Review I loved this so much when I first got it but recently it sank into my lip lines but not sure if it’s because it’s old.

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy in High Stakes 🙂 Huge fan of this color!

I clearly chose to never wash my face! I didn’t realize I used up so many cleansing wipes.
Equate Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths 🙂 I only used these to wipe off swatches on my arms
Sephora Rose Cleansing Wipes :/ These were okay but I would have to scrub a bit and also the scent was a bit strong.

Sephora Coconut Water Cleansing Wipes 🙂 These were so effective at taking off makeup!

Clean & Clear Facial Cleansing Wipes 🙂 I received this as a sample on the streets and loved these. The product in here helps to take off makeup so easily!
Life Facial Cleansing Wipes :/

Bliss Grapefruit + Aloe Body Butter 🙂 – Such an amazing summer scent and the formula is quite light

7th Heaven Soften Glove Masks 🙂 – Review I liked this more than I thought I would but not sure if I would buy again.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost 🙂 I gave this to my mom to finish but it was a good basic gel moisturizer

Aesop Rind Concentrate Body Balm 🙂 This smells like you are rubbing exotic oranges on your body <3

Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Lotion 🙁 The formula is uncomfortable on my hands, good smell though

Lastly, here are some items that I threw out.

Essence Longlasting Lipliner: This broke

Charlotte Tilbury Color Chameleon: The pencil kept on breaking! It was already crumbled on the inside and I’m not sure why!

Revlon Photoready BB Cream: It expired May 2017, I’m so sad I didn’t even really get to use it!

My empties bin was totally full but it didn’t end up being too many products! It’s such a hard balance between reviewing new releases and trying to finish up what’s in my collection. Hoping for more progress next check in!

🫎🍁 Don't miss this LIMITED EDITION release from @t 🫎🍁 Don't miss this LIMITED EDITION release from @tatcha! Inspired by the changing fall colors of the Japanese maple, this beautiful kissu lip mask now has a berry red tint. I love the moisturizing squalane and Japanese peach extracts. My dry lips have never felt so hydrated and soft. Definitely give this a try if you're looking for a smooth and plump lip with a hint of color.

🍮 The packaging is also stunning with the maple motifs on the lid that makes this display worthy in any bathroom or vanity!

It has been a minute since posting 😅 the first two It has been a minute since posting 😅 the first two weeks with a newborn have been full of challenges and adjustments. But it's nice to take a break and go through some of my beauty products as a break 🤭.

Here are my top three face creams for the changing weather especially if you have dry skin!

Swatched from left to right: clarins, drunk elephant, aestura

👌 moisturizing face creams for dry skin

Clarins Extra Firming: I love the day and night version of this cream. The night is even more heavy duty and creamy so sometimes I use the day version only 💫

It's got a beautiful scent and amazing collagen technology to plump the skin!

Aestura Atobarrier Lotion: this is a newer korean brand thats available now at Sephora. Part of the amorepacific family, so you know it'll be good!

The packaging is very simple and unassuming but I love how this soothes the skin! Its quite lightweight in texture but I used this when I was sick and it saved my nose after blowing into tissue a gazillion times a day! 🩵

Drunk Elephant Bora Barrier: im always a big fan of drunk elephant. This one is my favorite face cream from the brand. I love the pump packaging and this is perfect if you want hydration and barrier support!
