I’ve really enjoyed exploring new fragrances recently and developing my nose. A new release from Givenchy coming on May 1st is the Givenchy Live Irresistible Blossom Crush Eau de Toilette. The Very Irresistible range has been around since 2003 with the iconic bottles. But since 2015, Givenchy expanded to create the Live Irresistible collection! The Blossom Crush is the fourth scent in the collection and I’ll be sharing what I thought about the scent.

Packaging
The Givenchy Live Irresistible Blossom Crush comes in a long triangular bottle. It’s the same design as all the other Live Irresistible bottles except the color is different. The other 3 variations had different shades of pink and peach while Blossom Crush is lilac. Also another difference between the bottles in the Live Irresistible collection is the the color of the tag. On this one it is a light pink that corresponds with the color of the liquid.

In terms of the bottle, the front glass is smooth but the other two sides are faceted to give a cool 3D effect. I like how the bottle looks but it’s not very innovative. I think it’s nice and classic but the packaging is not as fun as say the recent Kenzo World perfume.
Scent
The main notes of the Givenchy Live Irresistible Blossom Crush EDT are rose, peony, cacao and musk. The team behind the scent wanted to provide a contrast between the freshness of flowers and the bitterness of chocolate. The fragrance is meant to “advocate spontaneity as an asset and freedom as power”.

For me, I definitely smell flowers right off the bat. But it is a light refreshing scent that feels appropriate for spring and summer. There is some warmth to the scent but I find it difficult to pick out hints of “bitter-sweet” or chocolate. The general feel is sweet but in a sparkling way so it’s not too stuffy. It is easy to wear and will appeal to a wide range of consumers. But I don’t find it very innovative or unique.
I would have loved to smell more of the chocolate/cacao but it feels quite hidden. The lasting power is just okay and at the 4 hour mark the scent is quite mellowed out. Although I have not tried the previous Live Irresistible perfumes, it seems that those ones were more sweet and this one is lighter. If you are buying it as a gift, there’s a good chance the other person will like it. However, if you have lots of perfume already, this one isn’t ground breaking. I actually prefer the scent and bottle of the recent Givenchy Dahlia Divin Nude a bit better.

The Givenchy Live Irresistible Blossom Crush will be available exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart starting May 1, 2018. The retail price for the 75mL bottle will be $113.
