I started early on Christmas shopping this year and am almost done! But, if you still have people on your gift list, I’ll be tempting you with this little set today. I have been loving Fenty Beauty products this year and am very excited to try the Mattemoiselles formula. The Two Lil Mattemoiselle gift set is conveniently packaged in a round ornament ball with a string. You can just hang it up on the Christmas tree!
The lipsticks are quite small at 1g each. But since the colors are quite bold, it will likely still last a while. I love that the lipsticks still retain the Fenty Beauty packaging with sleek rose gold colors and the hexagon shape.
Although the lipsticks are small, the attention to detail is spot on. On the lid, you can find the “FB” engraving. On the top of the lipstick itself, you’ll find the same engraving. The twist has a nice resistance to it so it feels more luxurious than some sample sizes might.
Formulas
The finish of these Mattemoiselles lipstick is a cross between matte and cream. It does not have any shine or reflection like cream lipsticks. But it will not leave you with flat lips like matte lip colors. It is extremely weightless on the lips and I don’t even feel that I’m wearing any lipstick even though the color is so bold! I wore Spanked all morning and ate a breakfast and had coffee. Although the color came off quite a bit on the coffee cup, I still had decent color coverage after all that.
Swatches & Demo
Here I have Spanked on the left and Griselda on the right. They both swatch with a bit of grip and comes through very pigmented.
I love how Spanked looks on me! It’s almost like a nude shade but it pulls more of a brick orange on me. It’s described as a dusty rose but I see a lot more orange in color. It applies with full coverage on the lips and lasts for a long time.
I thought Griselda was a pretty color as well but my swatch up close is quite messy. You can use two layers for a deeper color or lightly dab on your lips for a more sheer berry look. This color sank into my lips more and definitely needs a bit more care than Spanked.
I applied using just the lipstick tube but evidently this is something you should probably use a lip liner or a lip brush. I was surprised by how patchy it looks as the swatch looked extremely pigmented. It’s a very pretty bold color but needs more attention in the application.
Overall I’m obsessed with the shade Spanked and have been wearing it quite frequently. I like that it has Griselda which will push a lot of people out of their comfort zone. It’s a very affordable set that comes in a cute ornament and is ready to gift! The packaging is amazing for sample sizes. Although Griselda looked a bit messy in my swatch, it looks very nice in person if you are more careful with the application.
