SCHMEAR Naturals – Vancouver skincare brand

September 19, 2020

We care so much about the ingredients in the food we eat, but why not the ingredients that go on our face? SCHMEAR is a Vancouver skincare brand that creates face masks and other products with 100% food grade ingredients. Check out my experience playing around with their face masks!

About the Brand

This new Vancouver skincare brand focuses on skincare products made from REAL food and plant ingredients! All their products are 100% vegan and cruelty free. If you love to support local, you’ll be happy to know that these are all made by hand in small batches right here in Vancouver!

I love that the name is SCHMEAR as it’s such a clever play on “smearing” which is totally how I apply the mask.

Their skincare collection currently includes 3 face masks, 1 face cleanser, 2 facial oils, and 1 toner. It’s a well thought out collection that addresses most common skincare concerns.

How to Use Powder Face Mask

This is actually my first time using a face mask in powder format and it was a pretty enjoyable experience. The steps of mixing the powder and creating a paste was therupetic in itself. However, if you are short on time, definitely go for a sheet mask as the preparation and clean up takes an extra 10 minutes or so.

The ratio is 1 teaspoon of powder to 2 teaspoons of water. Since the products are all food ingredients, you can feel good about using your normal bowl to mix the product. Right now, if you purchase any face mask online, you’ll receive a free facial brush. This is really useful for mixing the product and also for applying it on your face.

Hibiscus + Pomegranate Antioxidant Face Mask

I received two different face masks to try out. The first one is the SCHMEAR Hibiscus + Pomegranate Antioxidant Face Mask. It’s formulated for all skin types but is best for mature, sun-damaged, or tired skin. The aim of this product is to brighten and improve the tone of your skin through natural antioxidants found in hibiscus, pomegranate, tomato, and papaya.

Here is the ingredient list below. It amazes me that the list is so short and everything is in plain English!

When mixed with water, the powder turns into a deep berry color. The geranium oil provides a light floral scent that enhances the experience.

SCHMEAR Turmeric + Coconut Calming Mask

The other mask I tried out is the SCHMEAR Turmeric + Coconut Calming Mask. This beautiful yellow mask focuses on soothing the skin with anti-inflmmatory ingredients. In addition to turmeric and coconut milk, aloe vera and cucumber peel round out the wholesome ingredients.

I’ve just started using it so I haven’t noticed any long term reduction of redness on my cheeks. But after washing off the mask, my skin felt super smooth and clean. It also felt supple and hydrated. I’m happy to note that the turmeric did not stain my bathroom sink as that’s one thing I was slightly concerned about.

I’m really excited to discover a Vancouver skincare brand especially one that is making high quality products with beautiful packaging. The ingredient list is super impressive as there are so many “clean” brands out there with questionable ingredients still. The whole process of mixing the powder with water added to the relaxing experience and I hope you get a chance to check out these masks or their other skincare products!

This is a sponsored post but all photos and opinions are my own.

Here's what I found from Ragtag in Japan!! 🤩🤩
I've definitely had my eye on a Dior piece and it's extra special that this design is a Japan exclusive.
I have to say, second hand designer shopping is a lot harder than I remembered! There are SO many stores now, I probably visited 20+ and the prices are not so cheap anymore 🤧🤧
.
A similar card holder from Dior is probably $600 CAD + tax. I got this one for ~$350 CAD. It's in excellent condition but there was no dust bag nor box.

No reservations are required and the fare is just the basic fare (approximately $4!) 🚅

We showed up 30 minutes before boarding and was the first ones for car 5. Car 3 seems to be the most popular for the cherry blossoms!

I've been using this a lot on my vacation and it stays on amazingly well all day even with the humidity.
I went for a more unique shade but all the basic browns and neutrals are available too!

Would you swap your current eyeshadow for this?
