Best Candle Brands from Vancouver

December 17, 2020

It is time to cozy up at home!! With the cold weather and also the quarantine in effect for Covid, we’re all spending much more time at home. It can be tough mentally to feel cooped up but I’m here to share a few of the best candle brands from Vancouver so you can brighten up the spirit at home. Read till the end as I also have an exciting giveaway planned!

Connection Candle Co

The first brand I’m sharing today is Connection Candle Co. Alissa handpours these candles in Langley BC and the name of the company comes from the inspiration of the connections we make everyday.

There are currently 16 scents available and they come in 3 sizes. The 4oz ($12) and 8oz ($21) are made with wood wicks and come in tins. They also have an 7.75oz option in a glass jar that’s made with cotton wicks but it seems like most of these are sold out online. All the candles are made with soy wax and natural fragrances. Alissa is committed to making safe, sustainable and high quality products.

Sunset – Mango, banana, coconut, vanilla bean
This is the vacation I need right now! The mango scent is the most noticeable but I like that it’s more sophisticated and not overly fruity or sweet. It’s a very nice pick me up scent!

Frosty – White cranberry, peppermint
I wanted to try out a scent that is perfect for the holidays. Frosty is a really nice seasonal scent that is unique as it’s not dark and woody but still puts you in the Christmas spirit.

Foxglove Collections

One of the newest candle brands in Vancouver is Foxglove Collections which started in fall this year. Owners Cheri and Tianna created this company after being curious at how successful people develop personal rituals. This line of candles will hopefully become part of your daily ritual.

Foxglove aims for a more luxury feel with a lovely heavy jar. For those who may have soy allergies, you’ll be glad to know of a candle alternative as these are made from coconut wax (no coconut residual scent though). There are currently 4 scents available ($38). Each aim to be a part of your daily routine and certain ingredients are selected to enhance your mood.

Awaken – Cardamon, grapefruit, pink pepper, amber
The creators envisioned the Awaken scent as the perfect addition to your morning routine. The more savory spices tone down the citrus note in the grapefruit and this scent a sophisticated and balanced feel. It’s a refreshing and energizing scent and is wonderful for starting my workday.

Judes & Co

Lastly, I want to introduce you to Judes & Co. This brand aims to evoke feelings of comfort, relaxing and nostalgia as you light up one of their candles. Judy created this brand as a passion project and has now turned into a successful business! The name “Judes” is actually her nickname. She uses a blend of coconut and soy wax as the base, scented by fragrance oils, and wood wicks. I’m really loving this trend of using wood wicks as it produces a slight crackling sound which really adds to the ambience.

I found the candles from Judes & Co particularly giftable as each of the 8oz candles ($29) comes in a linen pouch. You’ll also receive a set of matches in an adorable little glass bottle with any purchase. Currently there are 8 scents available and an additional 3 for their holiday collection.

Light – Pears, green tea, crisp citrus, light florals
Can you tell I’m into unique scents? I was instantly intrigued as you rarely see pear as a scent. I’ve been enjoying this blend as it’s fresh, relaxing, and a tiny bit fruity.

Cozy – Honeysuckle, violet petals, tonka bean, white musk
I wanted to choose a warmer scent as I really enjoy those during the cold months. It’ll be interesting to see if the honeysuckle and floral scents come through from the musk!

I hope you’ve enjoyed learning about these three companies! They are all locally owned and everything is hand poured in small batches. I love how unique their scents are and these will definitely be improving my mood in the upcoming months.

Hellllooo fall! 🍂🍁 In just a few weeks, the Hellllooo fall! 🍂🍁

In just a few weeks, the leaves are going to be golden red at Trout Lake!! 🤩😍. What are your favorite fall foliage spots in Vancouver?
Editing this post made MY MOUTH WATER!! 🤤🤤 Editing this post made MY MOUTH WATER!! 🤤🤤

Here are the best things I ate in Japan - restaraunt edition! (do you want to see one for snacks? or do you want to see a worst things I ate in Japan?)
Prices of the specific dish listed below.

1. Kanoko, try their special green tea infused soba or normal soba. I loved the dashi and tempura. Perfect lunch option for after visiting the tori gates. 1,300 Yen 🍜

2. Okonomiyaki Sakaba, you can pick the inside filling and a lot of the options were meat based. The sauce on top is delicious and you may be surprised the inside is mostly cabbage and not flour. 1,000 Yen🍥

3. Udon Bo Osaka, I tried out a cold dipping udon and it was excellent! They have a special yuzu sauce and the tempura is amazing too. 1,250 Yen 🍤

4. Roast Beef Ohno, the most affordable way to eat wagyu! Loved the sauces and nice side veggie dishes too. 1,750 Yen 🥓

5. Fuunji, flavorful dipping ramen with a vending machine to order! 1,400 (with egg + bamboo add on)🍱

6. Maguro Koya, holy crap I'm addicted to Ootoro now. So glad we splurged and got the double portion. We also tried the chutoro sashimi to compare cuts. 3,200 Yen 🍣

Hope this provides some delicious inspo for the best food in Japan!
Here's what I found from Ragtag in Japan!! 🤩🤩
I've definitely had my eye on a Dior piece and it's extra special that this design is a Japan exclusive.
I have to say, second hand designer shopping is a lot harder than I remembered! There are SO many stores now, I probably visited 20+ and the prices are not so cheap anymore 🤧🤧
.
A similar card holder from Dior is probably $600 CAD + tax. I got this one for ~$350 CAD. It's in excellent condition but there was no dust bag nor box.
